Another WHOLE ASS MOOD brought to you by Shubba
Got diagnosed recently, I’ve brushed my teeth with acne cream...
But when I say I love her, I mean it.
Yes 👏🏼
This, in all things.
Treated myself to new shoes! They go really well with the knee protection.
Its weird that fat is so taboo that women keeping their weight a secret is a common trope like ohh cant let anyone know how gravity in inacting on me or else they might know how much mass i contain wich is more than the desired amount fuck that im gonna exist in as much an ammount as i damn well please thank you
We really need to normalise exercising and eating well for reasons other than losing weight or building huge amounts of muscle. I’ve started going to the gym recently to relieve stress and help me sleep but despite the fact that I fit into shirts and skirts in size small, I’ve been asked if I’m trying to lose weight numerous times.
Here’s a list of non-aesthetic reasons to exercise:
relieves stress
keeps you healthy
improves sleep
can have a positive effect on mental health
makes you stronger and fitter
something to focus on other than work/school/uni
IT’S RECOMMENDED AS PART OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Reasons I exercise:
“Lifted big thing” is an achievement that can’t be undercut by gaslighting. Did you lift the thing? Then you did it! How much of it did you do? You did it [x] pounds! No “this didn’t really work for me, but I won’t articulate how or give you any advice on how to fix it and if you can’t figure it out you must just not be good enough” academic bullshit there. I did a thing, and I did it 4 sets of 10 reps at 20 pounds. Fuck you.
I still hate exercising. So when I do it anyway, it redirects my bad mood away from whatever else onto how much I hate exercise and being sore. (My therapist isn’t thrilled about this framing but whatever, it works for me.)
You know what I can’t do while I’m at the gym? Work. OH WELL, guess I have to listen to a podcast or something else that actually gives me joy for an hour! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Some things are intensely satisfying when you’re in a bad mood. Like doing slam balls, where you take a medicine-ball-type-thing and slam it against the floor as hard as you can.
One day I will walk into a room and know that, if someone pisses me off, I can bench-press them.
-i’m almost forty and i can still tuck my legs behind my head because i’ve been stretching for forever -people are impressed when you can play with a crowbar like it’s the weight of a broomhandle, yourself included -it doesn’t cure depression but it’s still good for you and the I Did A Thing-ness of it can definitely help dig one out of the hole -i hated my body and physicality as a whole for the longest time, getting it to do interesting and possibly impressive things helps me figure out how to get along with it, even when i’m not fond of how i look
-gym full of muscle boys so I can go feel gay somewhere with no pressure to be attractive because they’re all straight anyway
- it is literally the only time I will allow myself to watch YouTube so I learn about medieval English cooking thanks to this one channel
- about the only way to actually physically wake up my body
- constant temperature
- lying on the floor is acceptable & called “yoga”
- they play 80s classics at about 10am and also recipe videos & music videos on the tv screens instead of News Hell.
-I have never enjoyed exercising, despite doing it a lot, some people just never do and it’s ok. BUT I enjoy coming home and knowing I did something today. -Related to the last point, I have goals and when it seems my life is going nowhere I can at least look at my tae kwon-do history and be like wow, I’ve come this far. And I’m going further still. -In order to exercise you HAVE to eat, which for me personally is a big one. No accidental skipping of meals. -The excitement of learning a new thing/reaching a goal -It feels hella empowering to be able to go f you body, you can’t tell me what to do, if I want to jump and climb, I’m going to jump and climb!

New leggings! Also when I was reracking my plates from the leg press some guy came up to me and said that I do more than most guys! It was a pretty proud moment.

The size of your waist or the number on the scale or anything else Diet Culture tries to teach you makes you “more valuable” are just lies perpetuated by Consumer Culture.
Your value is determined by your character and how you treat others, not by how little space you occupy.

I’m starting something new!
I’ve been feeling like weight training has been getting stale for a little while now. I’m loving how my muscles have been looking and feeling and moving but I can’t help but feel like what is this all even for.
Long intro to say I’ve just joined a club that does HEMA (historical European martial arts). Learning to use a longsword is one of the most empowering and stress relieving things I’ve ever done.
Also shoutout to @imfemalewarrior . You inspire me so much.
Holy crap!
I just leg pressed double my body weight! For four reps!
