i just think you're cool, i dig your cinema — d. kaminari
a/n: every time i listen to cinema by harry styles i think of kami like just imagine him grooving around stage while playing bass and singing that song...god i adore him.
"you got, you got the cinema."
the crowd behind you screamed as the familiar beat started playing, denki strumming the opening chords on his bass. the band was about to perform one of their biggest songs, the one that thrust them into the spotlight—but all your attention was on your boyfriend.
you watched denki's familiar, easy groove across the stage, admiring how natural he looked up there. he looked so much like he belonged under the bright lights, with his bandmates playing behind him as he eased his way up and down the platform. he was completely in his element, that much was clear.
he waved to a few fans, eliciting screams of excitement before coming to the mic to begin singing the first verse. the smile on his face was blinding as he moved on to the chorus, and his eyes were glued to you the whole time. you couldn't look away.
"i just think you're cool, i dig your cinema. do you think i'm cool, too? or am i too into you?"
he sang the lyrics with a cheeky smile, smiling down at you from on the stage. he always made sure you had the best view, which he proudly claimed was right in front, where he could make eye contact with you the whole time if he pleased.
cameras pointed at the stage as the crowd sang along with the band, the energy in the stadium playful and energetic. you could see how much this fueled denki; how much he loved the collective excitement and happiness. he was known for his high energy throughout shows, from beginning to end, and he gave all the credit to the crowd's support at said shows—you, included.
denki was also never one for staying in one place on the stage; he walked over to the band's drummer, both of them sharing a mic as they sang the post-chorus. his creme-colored guitar glittered under the stage lights, his fingers dancing across the strings effortlessly.
you laughed when he winked at you, beaming. the move was so boyish and silly and oh so much like your boyfriend. despite being in the pit of a large stadium, it was moments like this where it still felt as though the two of you were the only ones there.
he looked like the sun himself as he came back up to his mic. a pick hung from his neck—the one he deemed your guitar pick, the one you gave him for your one year anniversary. denki was always losing guitar picks, storing them in odd places in between practices and shows.
he never wanted to lose this one. this one was special. this one was yours.
so he wore it around his neck, making a hole and stringing it around his neck. he called it his "lucky charm" and made sure he had it on during every set, at every event, even if you weren't there. he played with it when he was nervous, squeezed it when he was excited. it was everything to him. it kept him grounded.
"it's you. don't know why, but it feels so right to me. something in the way you move, i like it when you dance for me (I just think it's—)"
now, that guitar pick glittered under the lights, swinging in time with his body as he grooved back to his mic.
another shameless smile graced his face as his eyes darted to yours, watching you sing along. as the song descended into its final seconds, denki stopped singing and let the crowd lead, dancing around the stage with his bottom lip between his teeth and the happiest grin on his face.
he always told you the outro was his favorite part of the whole song, and you could see it as he yelled out into the crowd, urging them to sing along like they always did.
"you got, you got the cinema. you got, you got the cinema. i bring the pop to the cinema—you pop when we get intimate."
watching him on stage felt like witnessing love in its purest form. and after every show, with you waiting backstage as soon as the set was over, you always made sure to remind him how beautiful he was.
yes, he loves his fans, and he is always sure to remind them of how grateful he is. and he is so incredibly lucky for the band and the opportunities they get to share together. he never takes this life for granted.
but at the end of it all, in a world that is so fast-paced and loud and crazy, the number one thing on his mind—the first person he wants to see the moment all the bright lights disappear—is you. always you.
