finally finished building the loom.

i'm pretty sure the design i'm using is some kind of frankenstein of a table loom and a rigid heddle loom. it has two shafts, both of which have rigid heddles, with one being able to raise the "even" warp strings and the other being able to raise the "odd" warp strings (and neither being able to lower any warp strings). the two shafts can be raised/lowered independently of each other, but a shed only forms if you raise one and lower the other, so there isn't much point to raising our lowering both at once.

you can only do a 6" wide plain weave with it, which is just fine for what i have in mind (a red and black plaid scarf)

but man... that eight shaft 11" 3d printed loom is calling to me like the green goblin mask...

i must not start a new project.

starting a new project is the current project killer.

weaving update!!!!

so I bought my very own LOOM back in like October!!!!! which is a very long time ago now but I bought it for ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS (!!!! YEAH I KNOW) and it was in a bit rough condition. I've finally got it cleaned up and pieced together in a usable state and today I finished dressing it and started weaving on it for the first time ahh!!!

it's a Norwood 4-shaft workshop loom from the late 80s/early 90s in cherry wood ❤️ it's very small (~22in weaving width) but it's foldable and it's mine and, again, I got it for ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS.

currently using pvc pipe for the apron rods cause I needed one for the back (not currently trying to use the sectional warp beam), so i lent the front one to a woodworking friend so he could make a matching one for the back (also in cherry)!! but I really needed to get started on a project, so, PVC pipe it is!
