Sommernachtsparty weather in a nutshell

"It's so hot! The sun is so bright. We've been here for an hour and I already need to take half of my clothes off! My head hurts. My face burns. I'm thirsty. Have you seen my hat? I want to go on a water ride. I want to go indoors. I hate my hat, it's so ugly. I need sunscreen ASAP."

"Nooo, it started raining!"

THUNDERSTORM All operation is on hold. We're stuck in the Matterhornblitz queue.

"Ah, the sun is back!"

"It's been 10 minutes, why is it a thousand degrees already?!"

"Ah, it stopped already! Quick, let's head to the next ride!"

THUNDERSTORM All operation is on hold. We're thankfully stuck in the Tiroler Wildwasserbahn queue, which has a roof, because this is a 60 minutes downpour.

It's raining through the roof. :(

3x "I think the thunder stopped. Can't be much longer now." MASSIVE THUNDERCLAP "Nevermind."

Wildwasserbahn is back in operation. The queue is cheering.

The weather forecast for Saturday says very sunny and warm, so I went out to buy a bucket hat (I'm not the base cap type) so I wouldn't get sunstroke at the Sommernachtsparty again. :/ But the only hat that I could find was butt-fugly, so it's either looking like ass or dying (:

May I introduce you to THE WORST™️rollercoaster I've ever been on (so far).

Alpen Coaster (1967) // Vorlop Schwarzkopf Wildcat medium Karlsruher Mess' June 3, 2026

Not kidding, I've been scouring the local fairs for this specific rollercoaster, because it used to be located at Schwaben Park until 2016 and I used to ride it a lot as a kid (before I gaslit myself into thinking that it didn't actually exist (long story)).

And like............. it's so bad. I don't even have the words to describe HOW BAD of a coaster it is. You heard me gripe about Rock & Roller Coaster, which is also a wildcat model owned by Vorlop, but Alpen

Texted a friend about it, who said: "The way you describe it sounds so bad, it almost makes me want to ride it just for the experience." (You better believe that I *will* take him on the coaster when this contraption is in town the next time! 👀 which then will most likely end out budding friendship lol *gets cancelled immediately*)

ok so I looked it up, and it turns out they made a track out of PVC pipes, down a hill. The owner didn't realise PVC expanded in the heat, so on a turn the track just fell apart and the dude inside went over a fucking free way and into a swamp.

The funniest part is that the inspector was watching the whole time, and once the ball stopped he left without saying anything. Park management just shut it down then and there.

"The ball cleared a small hill, briefly going airborne, then zipped right across Route 94, the two-lane road splitting the park. Cars honked and slammed on their brakes. If there had been opposing traffic, Frank would have become part of a real-life game of Pong, volleying from one bumper to another.

Still in pursuit, we followed the ball toward a small lake in Motor World that had been earmarked for a fleet of tiny bumper boats for children. The area wasn’t open yet, but the empty boats were being tested and floated on the surface. The ball soared over the grass and smashed into several of them, scattering the others with rippling waves from the impact, which launched some of the boats several feet in the air.

Charlie and Ken waded into the water looking for the hatch. After some difficulty, they got it open. Charlie pulled Frank out by grabbing him under his armpits like a baby. Frank crawled up the bank, coughing and sputtering. He splayed across the grass as we all stared at the ball, which bobbed in the water like it was attached to a fishing lure.

We did not ask for the inspector’s report, nor did we ever hear of one being filed. Ken Bailey returned to Canada. The snow-makers cleared away the PVC. Told to dispose of the Bailey Ball, they rolled it into the woods, where it remained for many years."

I don't know that this beats the teeth story, but it's pretty great.

It's a 'If I got nothing else to do' kinda ride imho. And the fair didn't have much else to offer, so... I found the hiss of the hydraulic arms kind of unsettling, but I'm sure the technic nerds will disagree. :D

Diablos Residenz (2025) // Hoefnagels jr. Bertazzon 3-story ghost train Karlsruher Mess' June 3, 2026

aka the haunted house where I got sawed in half by a scare actor. 🩷 [Spoilers kinda] For the first half I thought this is kinda boring, because the jump scares were so delayed that I was past them before they even activated. But then it got reeeeeaaal claustrophobic really quick. 😨 If the 'victims of cruel experiments' trope triggers you, don't go on this. It's not a lol monsters and critters ride and it's not a kids ride at all. AND THEN THE SCARE ACTOR(S)----!!!

BUT!

I LOVE that it's barbie pink! 10/10 would scream again!

Petersburger Schlittenfahrt // Burgdorf & Söhne Mack Rides, Matterhorn sleigh ride (1976) Spring fair, Stuttgart, 2026

More from my admittedly disappointing visit to the spring fair! Went on the Schlittenfahrt for nostalgic reasons (my dad used to ride this with me when I was a kid) and it was honestly. SO. LAME. 😅 And I had such high hopes! There are rumours in thoosie circles that you can make the sleigh swing out almost horizontal if you forcibly move from side to side while it's in operation. But when me and some other riders tried this, we got yelled at by the operator. 😅 Can't do anything around here! The ride looks pretty though!

Rock & Roller Coaster // Vorlop Schwarzkopf Wildcat model (1969) Spring fair, Stuttgart, 2026

This cost me 6€ and it was not worth it (discounted price on family day even). The fair was pretty much dead that evening, so one of the operators had to ride with me to balance the car. He was clearly having more fun with it than I had, hooting and hollering in the backseat. 🫠 Co-worker of mine went on it a couple days earlier and showed me a picture of her & friends on the ride, everyone screaming their heads off, and I was like, should I roast her for screaming like that on a rollercoaster like this??? 👀 Nah, the boss won't like it if I bully other people at work. 😅

Der Polyp // Dreßen Schwarzkopf Monster 3 model (1983) Spring fair, Stuttgart, 2026

The GOAT (right with Breakdancer of course) and a must ride at every visit. It has a decent thrill for the people, who don't want to or can't go on the cray-cray rides. Last year I learned involuntarily that it can be stopped mid-ride cycle (bc of course it can) and that ride operators hate to do this. Someone took their whee child onto the ride and it freaked out and had to get off immediately. Please watch the ride before you take your kid on it, because this *gestures* is NOT for your toddler, even if the kraken looks cute and your kid fits the height requirement!
