Okay so like, I knew the Tusken tribe was eventually going to die. The Book of Boba Fett seems to be playing it very safe narrative wise, and I could see the “hero’s journey“ arc a mile away, and a huge part of that arc is usually the death of the mentor (In this case, the Tuskens)
That doesn’t make it like. Fucking okay though. Star Wars, at it’s heart is a space western, and the problem with westerns if they’re often rooted in deeply racist ideals and tropes, and killing off an entire Indigenous tribe to further character development is something that happens a lot in westerns and it’s something I hate so unbelievably much.
Indigenous peoples rarely get any representation as a an entire tribal group, and almost always, that entire tribe is killed off. I’m just really sick of the “death of the Natives” trope.
Also. So far, all the episodes directed by Robert are the weakest. I had hoped he didn’t direct any more after the weird portrayal of the Tuskens in episode one, and then as soon as this episode started I knew it was him. The difference between last week and this weeks portrayal of Indigenous people is like night and day and I really hate it. And it’s not the storylines, but the execution of the storylines. There was a way for them to have this arc make sense narratively and appropriately. There was a way to make their death work and not be super dismissive and tone deaf, but this wasn’t it.

Saw some people wondering why Asmodeus and Fizz are:
1. Commenting on Moxie's love song when they are clearly in love themselves?
2. Shocked that Stolas is with blitz when they themselves are also a royal and imp couple?
The answer is context.
Ozzy's club is a lustful place.
It's for the sexual and kinky side of a relationship.
Going onstage there and singing a wholesome love song is about the equivalent of going to a punk metal club and singing the My Little Pony theme song.
It's just not the right place.
What's more, Asmodeus and Fizz are a business owner and his main performer respectively.
They are dependent on the club remaining popular and making money in order to stick around.
Moxie's lovey dovey stuff was killing the vibe and therefore a threat to business.
Are Asmodeus and Fizz clearly in love and do their own lovey dovey stuff?
Sure. Completely.
But not when they are trying to work.
Fizz tells his raunchy jokes and Asmodeus sings his sexy songs.
That's their job.
As for their relationship being unusual due to their different species and social classes, Asmodeus's talk with Stolas wasn't really about him dating someone of a different background.
It was about what he threw away in order to get to it.
As far as we know, Asmodeus is not married and has no children. Therefore he can do what he likes with whomever he likes.
But Stolas was different.
Even if his marriage was arranged and unhappy, he still had a duty to it. Or at least to end it in an ethical way.
Instead he threw it away for, what the world sees anyway, a quick fling.
Asmodeus doesn't know Blitz, but between Fizz and Verosika chewing him out he can guess that this isn't a man in a sweet and loving relationship like Moxie and Millie.
So he can then berate Stolas for doing something foolish.
Tossing aside everything "for a thrust".
Whether or not Asmodeus approves or not of Stolas's decision doesn't matter.
What matters is that he needed to point out to Stolas the inherent selfishness of the decision.
Because as a fellow royal, he can do so without retribution.
Even more cruel, he can do it while holding his own imp boyfriend. One who actually returns his affections.
Asmodeus is essentially saying with his actions: "Hey Stolas look at me. I've got everything you want but I didn't have to blow up my life to get here. Maybe take some stock of why your life is fucked right now."
