Riding high off of the finale of Hazbin Hotel season 2... Man, there's a lot of feelings to be had.
Although, as per usual, I have to object to some bad takes that have been circulating.
Specifically, why the hell are people accusing the moment of Abel stopping Lute from needlessly attacking Vaggi of being "sexist"???
Need I remind you all that this is Lute we're talking about here?
Lute, who is so batshit insane that even Adam, Abel's father, was perturbed?
"Rip Vaggie's cunt mouth out of her ass!"
"Chill Lute, fuck."
Yet even so, Adam never objected to Lute's bloodthirsty nature, so long as it meant that the Sinners were the ones who suffer for it.
Compare to Abel, who's much more pacifistic and kind than his dad, especially when it comes to Sinners. In fact, Abel is amicable towards Sir Pentious, the first ever Sinner-turned-Winner, and on a more serious note, Abel is not one to willingly get involved in the conflict down in Hell.
And on that note, Abel succeeding Adam, his father, as leader of the Exorcists instead of Lute, the second-in-command--it's not a nepotism thing. Not 100%, at least.
The Seraphim, or at least Emily, had some fair reasoning behind making Abel the leader.
"Plus, we felt he'd handle this situation more... fairly."
You hear that?
Lute was passed over for a promotion because she's that crazy. Honestly, points to Heaven for recognizing that and not enabling her antics.
Listen, I like Lute too, but she needs to be put in her place!
She needs someone to rein in her worst impulses, not an enabler like Adam!
And that's where Abel comes in.
For extra points, he's the son of Adam, Lute's only friend.
So when he locks in and becomes authoritative towards her, she sees Adam. Her dead, beloved boss.
And her reaction?
She obeys Abel and folds.
Go back and rewatch everything that goes on with Lute and Abel.
It's not "sexism", it's a sweet bean finally growing a spine and successfully commanding his bloodthirsty and mentally-unstable number 2 to back down!
tl;dr Abel rules, I'll forever love him for standing up to Lute, and I hope to see more moments like this in the future.
Also, Fall Out Boy vocalist Patrick Stump voicing Abel and getting to sing his part in the finale FTW!!!
