I neeeeed someone to write this. Queliot.
After the events of 4x05, Eliot spends a lot of time revisiting Quentin memories. He’s pining, yes, but he also finds himself seeing things in a new light. Now, he sees the evidence of Quentin’s feelings and attraction in so many memories. In memories that didn’t even seem important at the time. In memories after the events of 3x05, he sees how clearly dejected Quentin acts. This makes Eliot sad, yes, but also makes him more and more sure that Q really does love him, and he’s just an idiot.
The moment happens. Eliot returns to his body. He has spent weeks, months waiting for his moment. He sees Quentin and they are on each other, hugging like they thought they never would again. Eliot has his face tucked into Q’s neck, breathing him in, and then trails his face, his partially open mouth along Q’s neck, jaw, panting with emotion and pent up longing as he travels to Q’s mouth. He get to Q’s chin and pulls off to finally kiss him again for real. But-
Q, who in all of his own emotional release, doesn’t even realize what Eliot is wanting, grabs Eliots face in both hands, and says, “I’m so fucking glad you’re back.” He pushes Eliot’s head under his own chin, cheek against his chest, and wraps his arms back around Eliot. Eliot thinks nothing of it, just enjoys the embrace. But his need to kiss Q builds, and eventually he can’t hold off any more. He pulls away. And this time he makes it clear what he’s doing.
Quentin kisses him back, but keeps his lips closed. He pulls away, and says “You don’t have to.” Eliot doesn’t understand until Q explains that he’s had a lot of time with his thoughts, and he doesn’t want Eliot to do something he’s not comfortable with because he feels obligated.
See, Quentin remembers Eliot pushing him away after the first time, and that it took years for him to convince Eliot to really believe in and commit to their relationship. It was so worth it. But Q is too scared that this time, when there are other options, Eliot will change his mind again. And Q knows that at this point that would break him. Break them. So Q has spent the last weeks, months, telling himself why he can’t let Eliot do something in a moment of desperation that he’ll regret later. So he tells Eliot “You don’t have to. This is enough for me.”
Eliot is completely taken off guard, and hurt initially. It sure as shit isn’t enough for him. How can Quentin do this right now? But then he looks in Quentins eyes. And sees all the things he saw in all those memories. The love. The tenderness. The rejection. But, newly, the fear. He realizes that he put all of those feelings in Quentin, and that it’s time to be brave. It’s time to prove to Quentin how fucking sure he is. This is it. And he’ll fucking fight for it. Then he smiles.
Isn’t it about time someone fought for the right to love Quentin Coldwater?
Cue all the fucking courting, the emotional confessions, etc..
Quentin Coldwater is always so brave and honest even though he’s a bundle of self doubt and insecurity. He deserves to courted and persued, damn it!!
Someone please!! Make this happen!!!
