Happy to announce my first exhibiting opportunity of 2018!
This Untitled painting I made last semester has been accepted into an abstract exhibition called “Order /Chaos” at The Show Gallery in Lowertown, Minneapolis!
The show will be running February 1st-25th. Please go check it out if you’re in the area!
Untitled (2017)
Tree bark, ink, acrylic and oil paint on board
12 x 12 inches
Reclamation (2016) featured upright and upside down creates an interesting diptych
Soliloquy (2017)
Acrylic paint, crushed ceramic pieces, tissue paper, and dried scabiosa seed pods
20 x 24 inches
Here is my 3rd & final installation project of the semester! The assignment was to implement an aspect of the past, present, and/or future.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I chose to construct a vintage television set made entirely of used VHS tapes of children's movies. My goal for this project was to remind viewers of the many nostalgic childhood movies that in this case are destroyed. The cover photos for each movie can be seen as a collage through the broken screen as you approach the work closer. This piece hopefully will remind people of how fleeting their childhood was and how fleeting memories from their childhood were. I also hope the viewers can then contemplate how media is changing for the following generations that will not have the same relationship with VHS tapes or older Disney movies like our generation has.
Second Installation project
The class drew 3 words at random, one color, one mood, and one form. We were then instructed to create an installation based off our words.
Periwinkle, Stubborn, & Wide
My primary focus was to incorporate the use of "stubborn" materials, some of which were chicken wire, zip ties, ripped nylon tights, hot glue and wire.
First installation project from this past semester’s Intro to Installation course!
This assignment was to utilize a mundane material and transform it into a space.
