I read something somewhere about 2017 being the year that encompasses the very best and very worst of what it means to be human, and that sentiment struck me deeply. It has indeed been a year full of so much of both ends of the spectrum. It’s been a year full of hard lessons, of things falling apart so that greater things can come together, a year of collective shadow work, and so much more... • But you know what? We are still here. Learning, changing, growing. We deserve to celebrate that, and ourselves, and each other. Let’s lift each other up as we walk through the energetic portal into 2018. • 2018 is the year we invest our energy into building what we want to see more of in the future. I’m so ready.

A reminder popped up today that five years ago this month, everything changed. Everything changed because I finally woke up to the fact that I wasn't living right by my Soul. Indeed, over the course of my young adulthood I had consistently suppressed vital parts of myself and willed myself into a kind of waking spirit-coma. October delivered the spiritual reckoning and my life turned upside down. • The course correction for my life hurt more than one person I cared for deeply. I abandoned everything I had come to know in my daily life and returned home, humbled. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, only the profound knowing that how I was doing it all before was NOT right. • Five years later, I am thankful to say that I have gotten better at walking this path. Five years later, I am seeing we are at the same kind of Earth-shaking Crossroads as a nation and as a Collective. What's with the name Lume Calumet, anyway? • I began consciously working with past life recall in September of 2015 after crossing paths with a Soul-brother who I'd walked with many times before. During this period of conscious activation, I had a dream about being in my childhood home in the suburbs of St. Louis, MO. Everything in the house was as I remember it from childhood, only instead of being occupied by my family, in the dream it was filled with some of my closest friends, aka my Soul family. Two brothers of mine, including the one who sparked this journey for me, were in what was my parents' bedroom. I visited with them, and then felt called to my bedroom. As I walked into my childhood bedroom my husband (not yet my husband at the time of the dream) greeted me. He told me quite matter-of-fact-ly, "Keely, if you can remember your past lives, you have a lume calumet." Confused, I responded with, "A what?" and he clarified, "A lume calumet." Then he said, "Look it up" as if it was as easy as simply Googling the term. When I awoke from the dream I made sure to write down the closest phonetic spelling to this term I'd never heard of before so as to not forget. • I told Matt about the dream later that morning. He was pivotal in helping me find the correct spelling of the words and hunt down translations online. Clearly this wasn't as simple as he made it out to be in the dream, haha. We figured it out though, and the translation gave me the chills you get in your depths when something resonates profoundly within you. • According to wordsense.eu, "Lume" as a noun means people/world/humanity, and also has the figurative meaning of "the light of life". The word "Calumet" is a more widely known French term for an ornamental Native American peace pipe. I'm feeling the need for some Real Talk and posting a pic of my mug so y'all know if this was taking place in person I'd be looking you dead in the eye. • Righteousness, especially in the form of self righteousness, does not need to be part of any equation let alone the Spiritual path, but Speaking Our Truth does. And Speaking Our Truth sometimes involves speaking out against situations and circumstances that trigger a hard "NO" within us. • There is a lot of horrible shit happening in the world. There is a lot to speak up about and take action to change. I recognize that we all have to exercise discernment in our choices or burnout will be imminent. I honor that. I am also seeing where it is time for me to use my voice to speak up. • We all deserve to be provided for, and as a general rule of my own humble living I do not see it as a "bad thing" or "selling your soul" to charge for energetic or spiritual services (except for Prayer. Don't charge for that, it's just creepy). There are genuine people trying to make a genuine, heartfelt living as intuitives and I applaud them on their journey. But I have also come across some accounts of individuals charging exorbitant amounts of money for their "wisdom" and knowledge. By exorbitant I mean amounts of money that perpetuate a system of exclusivity and privilege. NO ONE needs to pay $5,800 for a five month online course. That is obscene. And I would add that maybe you shouldn't be following anyone who charges that and can sleep at night. Just food for thought, because... • Sisters and Brothers, THE WISDOM YOU SEEK IS WITHIN YOU. It is coded in your DNA and housed in our Collective Consciousness! You need only remember! I beg of you, just give yourself permission to remember. You don't need to pay for this knowledge! Free resources are everywhere: online, in the trees, on the wind, in your own breath and heartbeat, fucking everywhere. And it absolutely ok to seek a teacher or guide or community, or all of the above, but find one that empowers you and sets you free on your own path. Not one that perpetuates the systems of control. This is what Autumn looks like in the southernmost foothills of the Appalachians. Dry grasses mingled with wildflowers and a cacophony of insects. I am so so thankful for the amount of flowers blooming this year, after last summers harsh drought. • This is also a humble reminder that Matt and I are quietly opening an online shop this weekend. It won't be the grandiose launch of offerings that I had originally envisioned, but when you both have day jobs and three dogs and a garden that needs tending you kind of expect a sporadic pace. The shop will certainly grow with time, as do all good things. New Moon blessings to you all. I am beaming green-ray healing heart energies to anyone needing them. ✨💚✨ There is SO much going on in the world right now. The overwhelm is very real, but while I sat in silence at my altar today my Guides assured me that it is safe to Trust this process and open ourselves to the support that is coming through to us, and to offer support where we feel called too. They encourage an open heart attitude and emphasize "being open to receive" AS we give, and I feel that it is so important to pass that message on. I wish I could physically hug everyone needing it right now.
