Long Time No See || Philip & Belle
He followed her past the rows of books, his fingers gliding over the spines hoping the right one would just magically fly into his hand. At her question he nearly choked on air, going a little red. “Uhm, well, that might be a bit premature. But thank you. I’m not preg—I mean we’re not pregnant.” He wanted to add, not yet anyway. The truth was, he was more than ready to be a father. It was all he had dreamed of after he had found Aurora. Even though they weren’t in their palace in their own land, his main desire was to settle down and be a family- to live their Happily Ever After. “I’m hoping soon though. Maybe.”
He smiled back at her, before shrugging. “I think… parenting books might be a good place to start. You know, fail to prepare, prepare to fail and all that.” Parenting was different in Storybrooke. It wasn’t like back home where a child had a wet nurse and team of servants to care for its every whim, it was going to be down to him and Aurora to make sure this child was properly looked after and happy, and the thought terrified him! What if he did something wrong? How did prams work, and nappies, and baby bottles and how did one build a cot?
She winced, embarrassed about her assumption. "Oops. Sorry. My bad. Well, good luck with the family-building later then." she said awkwardly, shifting her weight as she spoke.
"Okay, let's see. We've got Baby Incoming, Preparing with Vigilance. And a couple baby naming books, plus the usual 'Help! My Teenager's a Total Pain!' books. Not really prize-winning stuff, but it'll do." She perched against one of the shelves for a minute, before leaning over and peering at some more spines. "Hey, I meant to ask, I haven't seen you around before. How did you know my name?"
