So I got 6 Discus and 1 Royal Farlowella :D
So now I have
4 Royal Alenquer Discus (all wild) 2 Green Tefe Discus (all wild) 1 Blue Diamond Snakeskin Discus 1 Mystery hybrid Discus with a red body and blue fins 1 Yellow Pigeon Blood Discus 1 Snakeskin Eruption Discus 2 Checkerboard Discus Probably gonna get more when a a new shipment of Discus come in, I know I want a white Discus and a couple more that will add some more diversity cause the wild Discus are dominant right now.
As for the rest of the tankmates:
7 Rosaline Sharks (probably gonna get 3 more) 1 Red Tailed Shark 4 Emerald Cory Cats (probably gonna get like 15) 6 Angelfish 2 Albino Bushynose Plecos 1 Rubberlip Pleco
I plan on getting rainbowfish for this tank, maybe like 3 boesemani, 3 red iranians, 3 of another and 3 of another of the really colorful ones that get decently sized.
I am very excited about this tank
I am also very excited about starting my saltwater

Look at these Tefe Greens, ugh, stop. I am so sad. I need them. If I done a one strain only tank I'd have a tank full of these guys and another full of Thunder Snakeskins.
Looking good man, well done :D!

very pretty.
Got Gavin ( furae ) to put a santa hat on Sir for the Chens Discus page, and here he is in all his festive glory.
Merry Christmas from Sir Blue Diamond!
Gavin & I had just went a walk and I have came home to eggs!! Pudding and Teeny are currently blowing on them and fending others off.
Teeny isn't the best for breeding because he's a 'bulldog' discus, but right now, I don't care, haha. I have egggggggggggs!!!
The tools with which I combat poor betta care. I believe these are all my fishcare products.
(Before anyone mentions it, yes, I know the dangers of Melafix; however, this is a picture of my stock, and it is part of my current stock, regardless of the fact that it’s never used anymore.)
What are the dangers of melafix? Is it just a problem for bettas or…? It’s just I’ve used it before for my guppy and goldfish tanks.
Something about it messing with the labrynth organ? I only found this out the other week but not fully looked into it. Hoping for a good explaination :D
There are studies that state Melafix causes damage to a betta’s labyrinth organ, which they use to breath air. If their L.O. is damaged, then it can make breathing either incredibly difficult or even impossible for them. As bettas are air breathers, this is obviously bad. So, the majority ruling is to avoid Melafix, Bettafix, or anything with the ‘fix ending.
Yeah, that was what I was told, wondered if there was anything more to it than that. Interesting. Glad I never used it on Storm when he got battered. Nice to have found out anyway.

I couldnt get a picture of my female krib. So here’s a video of her coloration. Massive red/purple/maroon spot on her tummy c:
This makes me miss my wee kribs. My female always looked like this!
(X)
HOLY
Holy wow I think I need one!
Terrible picture, but this is my red turq, Buzz. First one when I got him a few months back, and the second was taken a few nights ago :)!
He is getting big and coloring up well, he’s pretty much the same size as Teeny yet he doesn’t have all his color yet so I think Teeny has reached his full size the wee soul!
He is really colouring up well. I know my 3 Turqs are colouring the same.. Do you find the quality of food helps?
Yeah, for sure. What do you feed your guys? I get my beefheart mix from my discus supplier :)
My guys start the day off with some live brine shrimp, mid-day they have tetra prima, around 5pm they have beef heart (i make myself) and then an hour before lights out i give them some frozen blood worm… They eat better than i do haha
I would up the feedings of beefheart, and cut way down on the bloodworms, they can carry nasties and have no nutritional value to discus! I would only use BW as a once in a blue moon treat or if you have a fish not eating, it can sometimes entice them into wanting food. Live brine shrimp is okay, but again I’d be more inclined to give as a treat. The more beef heart the better :)
Well im glad you told me that, im not going to give them BW anymore.. Beef heart all the way!!!
It’s okay once in a while as a treat but they can get hooked on it and refuse other foods, it’s not the best for them. Even if you fed them beef heart four times a day, and a wee bit of the live brine shrimp in between those feedings. & maybe once or twice a week throw in a frozen mussel for them :)!
Blackworms are also good, I get mine from this link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aquacibo-Freeze-Dried-California-Blackworms-Blackworm-Cubes-Discus-Fish-Food-/121497750688?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Fish&var=&hash=item1c49d48ca0
Mine go crazzzzzzzzzy for them. One of these wee cubes every few days too wouldn’t go a miss, white worms are good too but I haven’t tried mine with those yet as I don’t want to have a culture of worms laying around lol!
Frozen muscles.. I never thought they would like those but i will def give them a whirl. How often do you think i should feed them then?
Thanks for the link, looks like my babies will be having their very own christmas dinner lol
I’d give them at least four feedings of beefheart daily, and at some point throw in two mussels or some brine shrimp, switch it up every so often, but with the mussels, don’t give them those too often, as again, they can get hooked and refuse the beefheart. I have two currently huffing about the lack of mussels lol!
Asda sell mussels in the frozen isle, they should be pre cooked so all you have to do is throw them in, they might take a while to get used to them but once they do they will go bonkers. You’ll just need to scoop out the bits they don’t eat once they are done :)
Thank you both! Im off to Asda to get them some, just a few now and then alongside the beefheart and i should have me some happy fish :)
Ops, forever forgetting to reblog from my fish blog, way to confuse everyone and myself :P!
I got a pack of mussels for about £2, and there’s looooads in it, so should last you a good while :)
Lol i was a little confused but it doesn’t take a lot!
They love feeding the beef heart from my fingers, they know when its coming and wait for me… Feeding frenzy
Hahah, yeah I forget to switch blogs all the time D:!
Aw, mine are being a little fussy lately as they have had too many mussels but most hand feed, they all take it in turns lol!

Does anyone know how to sex a discus?
What size are your guys? Sometimes you can sex them around the 5” or so mark, others you will have better luck telling if they pair up/spawn! :)
Well they are roughly 4- 4 1/2” i can see a small…
The one is shaking constantly but none of the others. What would you like pics of my friend?
I was just concerned with the other fishing eating the eggs (if they lay eggs at all) but i do want them to grow, would love to see them reach their full potential as i am doing 50% changes each day and feeding 4 times a day :)
Yeah, I’d love to see pics :D!
I had my pigeon and cobalt shaking and dancing at each other a few times, but nothing has came of it so far. They are both around the 5” mark, the cobalt slightly bigger, I was excited but I want them to grow as big as possible lol!
Im not sure if i can add pics to this thread but will find a way of showing you. Im def proud of my kids lol
You could be in luck, maybe it was a touch of the horn and not love lol now they can grow :)
Hahaha, could have been yeah. Teeny and my biggest male were in on the action too, so who knows what was going on that night :P!
I am about to post some comparison pictures, you could post your guys and I’ll check your page to see them :D!
Haha you know what its like, one nibble of beef heart and its ooon :P
All my guys are on my blog, its a new blog so u’ll see them in no time
Ohh, fab. I shall keep my eyes peeled. Mine just got their last feed of the night so almost lights out for them lol!
Mine had lights out a few hours ago as it is 1am in the uk lol but my pics are just a few days old now
Yeah, I'm in the UK too, my guys normally have lights out around this time, as I am always up late, haha. That's all my fish and my cats fed now so lights out, lol!
keepingdiscus these are the two that may mate. I believe my orange is a marlborough and he/she is doing all the shaking plus never lets any other fish near blue
Lovely pair :)! The marlborough is a cutie! The blue looks like a cobalt, I'd say that one could be your male possibly :)
