My beloved honey gourami Sunkist passed away. I don't know what happened he looked beautiful and perfect still, it must have just happened in the last few hours. I've had him for at least several years so maybe he was just old. He was normal and ate last night and everything. I adored him he's definitely been one of the most personable fish I've ever had

So we have a 55 gallon tank with a filter rated for a 75 gallon tank, two snails, a bubbler, and a live plant. We intend to introduce more live plants in the future, as long as this one continues to thrive.

We have 4 gold fish - one who is almost 7 inches now and 3 that are under 2 inches.

But we have the WORST algae and water quality issues. We do a 20% water change every two weeks, but it is not nearly enough. It is not in direct sunlight. However, the water temperature stays around 76 degrees (with no heater) and we can't quite figure out how to prevent that.

Any suggestions? We are considering adding the 55 gallon filter to the tank as well, and maybe switching the bulbs?
