Tre’von Griffith Making An Impact in Music
A native of the beautiful Saint Louis, Missouri Tre’von Griffith admits that music wasn’t something he chose, it was something that chose him. As cliché as it might sound it is actually a true story. When he was younger he would often attended choir rehearsals with his mom. One day while in church Tre’von decided to just stand up on one of the church pews and direct the choir. From that moment on he knew that music was definitely his calling. Through out his musical journey Tre’von has found much inspiration in listening to legendary artists such as Prince, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Luther Vandross and Kirk Franklin. These artists have proven to be musical foundations in the process of Tre’von discovering his own voice in music. Music has given him so much that he feels like he wants to return the favor. Since entering the music industry Trevon’s goal has always been to help nurture the next generation of artists. He made his first step towards this when he created the G Arts Foundation. The mission behind this organization is to educate and support the next generation of performing artists. The vision for it arose during the summer of 2014. After traveling the world and being able to teach and work with youth around the country, Tre’von wanted to find a way to impact and reach young ones right here at home. Due to many budget cuts in a lot of our school systems children are being left without their music programs so the youth must find alternate ways to study their craft. Trevon says “The arts changed my life and I want to be able to provide those life-changing experiences for the next generation of artists.”
Tre’von just like every musician has his own opinion about the music industry and I must say it is a great one. He says “The music industry is vastly changing— as it should! As the world changes, the industries that drive it should evolve as well. It’s important that we find new ways to reach people and our consumers. Let’s get back to what MUSIC is really about, LOVE! There once was a time where our message was worth spreading. Do it for the love of the music, not money, not stardom, just the pure intention of creating great music that will leave a lasting mark for years to come. The rest will all fall into place. I’m not saying that I hate the industry or some of the artists that are out today, there are many artists who are awesome. I just challenge us all to rethink our value. Just like the famous quote says “Music makes the world go round.”
