Hi there,
It’s been a while right? I’ve been so busy producing deliverables for class projects and chasing the career lately that I’ve fallen behind in terms of sharing. But Spring Break was a great breather for me; I went home, saw the family, went skiing, and forgot for a short bit about upcoming deadlines and to-do lists. And with this slight reprieve from chasing deadlines, I’d like to share what I’m working on now.
I’m taking a class about getting a product produced through industrial manufacture, and we get to choose what we will produce. I decided to revisit a past project that I felt never reached an acceptable level of completion. You can see my first go at Keeper boxes here.
So right now I’m just in the initial stages of figuring out how they’ll be made, sketching and making informal prototypes to help me make decisions about construction, material, and interaction. Here are some snapshots of my desk right now:
looking at materials, mostly wood and fabrics that I can sew into ribbons to act as joinery.
Foamcore mini model.
So that’s where I’m at right now. I need to try some different sizes and start making stuff out of real materials and see if this idea works in real life now. And hopefully I’ll do a better job of sharing as I go along. It’s good for me to document the process.
Happy Spring!
Kelly
