A little peice for Arctic fight using the colour pallete winter wolf. Good fun, good angst. Something something child soldiers something something inter generational trauma. Merry christmas!
It wasn't super intentional, but I really like how this version kinda turned into a fusion of the last two versions and how I've utilized this red undertone throughout these different illustrations. Rest assured, I'm nearly always operating on vibes whenever I do these, but I feel like my 2019 self had internalized "cool shadows" and "warm highlight" advice and wanted to play around with the inverse of that and it gave some interesting results. and like in 2021 I got a bit high on the mix and airbrush tool fumes and had difficulty creating clear defined shapes or effectively utilizing painterly stylisation but I wanted to use contrast to convey a more intense energy and draw your eye to Bastien's lightning powers which weren't very prominent in the first iteration. In whatever case I think at the time I had a bit of the 2020's blush blindness going on or maybe an overlay layer doing something interesting because Bastien has all of these interesting red skin tones.
Now, I just thought it'd be fun to lean into this red purple multiply layer over my base colors that I used to up the contrast with the lightning but it ended up carrying over that fun intense red that has been in all these other pieces!
Some of the fun in doing a redraw is seeing the ways you've improved and changed but it's also fun seeing how you've carried the past forward, you can look back and see that past version of yourself and see that they're still with you, they always will be.
deviating from the list because I don't like anime and I just wanted to draw my silly little guys, and using a base is easy and I'm in the middle of a really busy week at uni. I was also completing the color prompt for artfright! using halloween hijinks.
5. Favourite Cliche - who doesn't love a meetcute? I was specificly thinking of the scott pilgrim red solo cup scene. What if scott pilgrim vs the world but scott was also a manic pixie dreamgirl?

ahh cringetober, nothing to get me cranking out my 2000's aesthetic spooky characters for some shannanaganery, I'm making these pieces real big like A5 sized so I can print em out as a zine! I think that'd be neat :) First prompt is overpowered and I've been toying around with Ira becoming one of the most powerful beings in the universe as the true god of death so he's been getting some celestial motifs and the blue screen of death felt like a fun detail for the background.
