My star-themed Jolteon made from several starry fabrics! The yellow fur and blue minky are star-textured, and his eye twinkles glow in the dark. I really wanted a Jolteon of a good size to match my BaB eons and couldn't find one good enough, so I made my own and I'm really proud of him! Finished on June 1st.

I dont know what it is, but there is just something super comforting about cuddling a really nice pokemon plush thats a perfect size for what the pokemon could be if it were real. These sleeping eeveelutions are some of my favorite because they literally feel like the weight of a cat and rest against you very naturally while looking so esthetically pleasing. It feels like I have actual pokemon companions.

Has anyone done bontail or hyper motion tail covers for eevees / eeveelutions?

I’ve got pink fur so I could do a sylveon cover when my tail comes in… I don’t have white fur for ears though… I do have some black fur and blue plush fabric for umbreon perhaps? Or maybe a different accent color for a sparklemon version… red is always fun. Or green. Hmmm.

I’d love to do a shiny eevee but I don’t have the money to buy the needed fur at the moment.

i definitely agree with the "thing, japan" take, but i do think kemonomimi describes a unique concept and isn't a redundant term, in that it's, afaik, a fashion style involving animal elements like ears & a tail and whatnot. the way i see it, dressing like that, while it may be personally related and they may do so, is not required for any animal alterhuman, and otherpaws, while they might dress in a similar fashion (usually more along the lines of masks, paws, etc.) for the purpose of roleplay, kemonomimis do so for fashion. where otherpaws roleplay as animals, therians identify as animals, and furries identify more with the "anthropomorphic animal" concept than the "humanoid with animal features" concept, i feel that kemonomimi terminologically fills in a gap within these animal-centered subcultures.

i don't know the origin of the term, and don't want to claim anything false about its origin, so i'm not sure if it was popularized first in japan or in the west, but if the latter is the case, i absolutely agree with the "thing, japan"ification of these concepts (and not to even bring it up but selfshipping vs. yumeshipping... i cant even make a case for the rise in popularity of the latter besides a cool japanese sounding word to describe yourself), and i definitely feel as though the "cool-sounding" name is one of the only reasons people are more tolerant of kemonomimi fashion than they are of furries, therians, and such. not even to mention the large, not exaggerating, amount of kemonomimis i have seen on social media publicly bashing these communities, despite kemonomimi being intrinsically related to them.

idk! i feel like it's definitely a complicated topic because kemonomimi does describe a unique thing, but criticisms surrounding the nature of the term itself are completely valid.

Nodding nodding, at both of you. I personally use kemonomimi (and its subterms) for fashion! I don’t personally identify as an alterhuman (or its subterms), though I do like some of the aesthetic overlap in the two subcultures. I would definitely call it a J-fashion movement rather than an identity, though there will always be people that use the label for that too.

I do also identify as a furry, but for me the terms and part of my identity are fully separate. For me, the furry part of my identity centers around characters, roleplays, etc. while “kemonomimi” is just a fashion statement, and it would make me uncomfortable to have people cross the two terms/identities over for me. I think theres a lot of different ways people may be un/comfortable with it though.

Hard agree on the yumeship vs selfship labeling too, as well as “thing, Japan” in general. “Thing, Japan” I feel like can range anywhere from nonharmful to “cringe” (not a word or label I like to use, but is used so often I feel I should add it) to actual outright racism, and I personally think Kemonomimi lands firmly on the nonharmful section simply because Kemonomimi as a term/trope has existed for a long time, to the point that it is an actual fashion subculture that isn’t affiliated with furry or alterhumanism unless an individual person identifies with both labels?

Its super cool to hear another take on what I’ve always taken as my own belief, I don’t think i’ve ever thought about kemonomimi as anything other than fashion/fun, so its neat to look at other understandings of the subculture. /gen /lh

My review:

Packaging is amazing! Came in a smooth purple bag and was wrapped up to stay safe. Bontail gave me express delivery for free making it come in 2 weeks to the U.K! (shipped from Thailand.)

The tail has weight to it, but if you're expecting it feel like it's attached to you like it's your own tail don't get your hopes up too much, but you can somewhat feel it. It wags really well with and without a cover but a cover definitely limits it in a good way, it's a lot more natural! ! added a bit of stuffing to give my own cover a little more volume.

I’d recommend it if you can afford, it cost me £125 including shipping and tax during a sale. They also sell their own custom covers i can’t say anything about them though. They’re are smaller and differently shaped ones too!
