Something that’s been pointed out to me, not recently, but I was thinking about it again, is that I’ve never liked/dated/made out with a white girl (I’m white btw (and a lesbian)). Is that racist? Like idk the fact that I’m aware of it makes me feel like it’s low key racist. And it isn’t like there’s been any big similarity between any of these women except for the fact they’re not white, like, idk. Is it wierd that I think about it?
I just remember telling my friends I made out with a girl I had just met a concert and I was telling them about her and how beautiful she was, I never thought I had to clarify she was black until like a week later they wanted to see what she looked like and I showed a picture and they were all completely flabbergasted. And then the girl I dated after was Vietnamese, and the girl I have been crushing on all semester is Laos. But even before I was gay one of my close friends was telling me she might be bi and the only thing I was thinking was “for me?” Don’t know how it took me years after that to figure myself the fuck out but like, looking back on it, she was my first gay crush. I mean I was fantasizing about what it would be like to date her. NOBODY knew about that though. So when my guy friend was like “you’d probably date her to cause she’s Korean” like that’s not why but I definitely would have dated her, we got really close again last year and bro, I liked her like that again. She also figured herself out, though, and unfortunately, she’s straight.
And like, none of them have looked the same, different skin tone, different body types, different face shape, we just often have things in common. I.e. fanfic, fandoms, anime, music taste, and the like. But also, I’m not in a very queer or diverse area, like my options for gay girls are very limited, and I AM NOT dating a high schooler. All the girls that happen to be gay so far haven’t been white. I just, i don’t know. I don’t know.
And like the guys that I’ve been with/like(im going through a sexuality crisis AGAIN >:|) have been white. And for part of it I look at who I’m friends with and it’s a lot more diverse on the girls portion than the men so like. But also I’m friends with more girls than guys and that’s because I’m usually involved in more women dominated activities, choir, band, theater, book clubs, art clubs, like not a lot of men there.
Idk, I guess what I’m trying to ask, is it weird that I’m so aware of race when it comes to my dating history?
