1st Class Trio - Social & Interpersonal Abilities
Sephiroth is well-trained in terms of etiquette. He is an important figure of patriotism and inspiration for new SOLDIERs in Midgar, so lots of time is spent in Sephiroth’s education on cultivating a heroic, dignified image. He can converse with people of high class with ease and he is professionally trained to avoid social embarrassment.
His own inherently independence-seeking leader type nature is in its element in the professional setting where he must attend to meetings, train new SOLDIERs and command forces on assignments. While he may be smug about his strength, he has the humility to show interest and kind gestures to those ranking lower than him. He is polite and it’s hardly ever seen losing his cool, - however he will always push back ten times harder if challenged. He gets scary only if you can’t behave yourself.
Sephiroth learned young that most people won’t respond well to him expressing hurt, wants or needs. So he is extremely closed-off from expressing those things to anyone in his adulthood. You won’t ever hear him complain or see him openly seeking solace from another.
He keeps his stoic mask as he silently suffers. His mind is a complex one, like that of a king or a god trying to generate a perfectly meaningful image of the universe he is a part of. A crisis on that mind is a terrible swirling turmoil inside Sephiroth, one he can not express.
There are people that Sephiroth will seek out when he needs someone though. He rarely admits it, but he finds peace and solace in especially his friend Angeal. When Angeal and Genesis go missing, he begins to feel this way about Zack, even though his mind is shattered beyond reasoning with when the Nibelheim incident occurs.
Angeal just seems to get along with almost anyone. Nearly everyone looks up to him they’d look up to a wise parent or older sibling figure. He is truly emotionally mature, being both firm and gentle in guiding others. His natural kindness makes even wild animals trust him on sight. He gladly takes the role of the mentor, protector and healer. At times one could say he’s nearly enlightened when it comes to dealing with problems on his own, - but here we get to his weakness. Angeal, like Sephiroth, doesn’t seek solace from others for himself. He gives solace to others but finds it impossibly difficult to ask or receive help himself.
Because he grew up poor, he grew up with people assuming he’d also be a beggar. His family sometimes got avoided and treated like a burden by wealthier people. So he wanted to make sure to show everyone he is fully self-sustaining and not in need of anyone’s help. Instead of asking of help, even from his best friend, he chose to help people when he noticed how strong he was. He grew up into someone who carried others on his back and took pride in it, - always having to be strong for everyone else and sacrifing himself.
He most likely was one of those kids who had to look after their own dysfunctional families and adopted the strong role, too.
Genesis always knew he had a gift, - both his strength and wealth that put him in a position from which he could help everyone. He was also a lonely only child with somewhat distant parent figures, never fully getting his fill of love in his formative years. Because of this, and because he sees the world from a philosophical and even romanticized angle, Genesis cultivated a self-image of a noble and generous hero that could give and receive love.
Genesis has successfully cultivated a character that was once seen as a good boy, - and later a good man. However, he is a tad bit spoiled and can be reckless in terms of etiquette. Some see this rough edge as admirable honesty and courage, while others just view him as a scandalous figure. Being the extremely competitive thrill-seeker he is, Genesis will often cross the line of being obnoxious. But this in fact just draws even more interest and admiration towards him. He is seen as a person who really stands out.
Genesis is brave and experimental when it comes to expressing wants, needs and feelings to others. Unlike Sephiroth and Angeal who are very restrained, Genesis is the exact opposite. He is always testing what is acceptable! He goes a bit too far… Often. He can throw a fit, pester and annoy people on purpose etc. He is really shy with actual affection though. He often prefers to challenge or provoke people instead, fearing what it would be like to expose his vulnerable side to them. But it must be said that he is still better at doing the latter than ‘Geal and Seph.
