I love season 5 quasi-existential crisis Kerry when she sort of does a dry run of the "they will never ever accept or reward me" realization that will hit her like a freight train in seasons seven and eight. Because instead of descending into a depression void and tearing out my heart like she does then, she:

adopts Carter

stops giving a fuck for like an episode and a half

Hmm… Either they were in on it together beforehand, or Romano took this gesture for what it was - a political move - and was kind enough reciprocate. Yes, Romano is Chief of Staff, but Kerry becomes (permanent!) Chief of Emergency Medicine. Not sure I enjoy how this went about.

But what I like even less is her asking Carter to move out?! She was practically her boss before, I don’t see how this makes such a big difference.

I sort of get it about not having enough time to mentor Lucy or playing favourites, but again, other doctors clearly take students or residents under their wings… If she really wanted to she’d find the time, of that I’m sure.

She seems different here at the start of S6 and I’m not so sure I like it so far 😕

Right, so. Start of S5E22, Kerry finds a small boy walking around on his own. She’s obviously concerned, follows him for a bit looking for the parents, sees something is wrong and takes charge of the situation.

And I will recall that early on, despite being stiff towards the staff sometimes, she was shown to have excellent bedside manners and especially being very good with children.

So I need to ask - what the fuck was that all about in S4/early S5 when Doug wanted to be Pedes Attending? Suddenly they showed her having trouble with children patients, and Doug had to swoop in. When clearly she is wonderful with children. Absolute character assassination. Shame on them for doing that!
