I’ll admit it. I have tried to stick to a Ketogenic Diet numerous times. I’ll lose some weight, have one cheat, cheat again, stop Keto, gain some weight back, start Keto, cheat, cheat again… it was a cycle. After telling myself that I’d stick to it this time, I kept finding myself going back to old habits, because that’s exactly what it was… a old habit.
I knew that things kept going wrong when I kept allowing myself just one cheat meal. Why did I cheat? Here are two of my most common excuses:
My friends want to catch up over dinner out in the city – might as well splurge a bit, just for tonight.
I just finished a long day at work – exhausted and starving. I didn’t have anything Keto-friendly ready at home for dinner. I forgot to plan ahead for this meal, so I’ll just do a small cheat, just for tonight.
I loved going out to eat, it was something I always did with my boyfriend, friends, and family — my old habit. I kept buying something easy (e.g. Japanese Curry with Rice) to take home for dinner after a big day at work — another old habit. Then, at the end of each work day, my feet started to ache a lot more than usual; the sluggish feeling I initially just had in the morning began to extend towards the late afternoon; I faced a daily battle with constant cravings for all sorts of high calorie, high carbohydrate foods.
It was time for a change. I wasn’t about to go back to the Ketogenic Diet again, I had to find myself a Ketogenic Lifestyle – rather than try to get rid of my old habits completely, I was determined to change them into new, Ketogenic habits.
After a few days of gradually lowering my carb intake, I challenged myself to go out for meals as often as I normally did while still eating Keto-friendly. I always thought that I could only go to places like Burger Edge for a bunless burger or Beach House Bar & Grill for a plate steak and veggies, but that didn’t feel challenging enough for me… I want Asian food. I want to finish my dinner date with a cold dessert. Instead of seeing only a few Keto options around, I want to see that I can eat Keto nearly anywhere.
It has been nearly 3 weeks now back in the Keto-wagon. I have found so many places that I can go out and eat, I have not felt like I was missing out, I no longer feel like I’m on a diet. This is it, I have formed a Ketogenic Lifestyle for myself by twisting my old habits into Keto-friendly habits — and that’s exactly what I want to share with you.
I will show you the places I can go to eat low carb in Brisbane, Australia. I’ll force myself to discover new places to try and detail my experience there. I’ll also provide information regarding the cost and nutrition where possible. However, I am hoping you find a lot of information here about what sort of low carb options you have in certain types of restaurants (Korean, Indian, etc).
