A Visit } Kam/Laney

    Walking through the mountains of Bluebell had always given Kam a great feeling of peace, and this feeling had only increased since his move away to Oak Tree, as the walk now brought him each step closer to home. The familiar doors of the cafe brought a smile to the young man’s face and he couldn’t hide the skip in his step as he quickened his pace towards the patio.

   Pushing the front door open and hearing the chime of the bell, Kam heaved a heavy, but happy sigh. He was home. 

  “Hello?” He called out - not even a tone above his normal voice, as his excitement didn’t overpower his quiet nature. “Howard, Laney? Sorry I didn’t visit last weekend -- I was caught up in studies and ah --”

   “I’m back.”

Morning Sickness {open}

      With the morning light brought a quiet, peaceful atmosphere to the clinic. A symphony of occasional clinks of medical equipment being re-arranged and the nurses soft footsteps would accompany her as she hummed along, preparing the room for the upcoming day.

     She enjoyed these brief reprieves of solitude, moments she could sit back and reflect on her surroundings. Indeed, there was something charming about the clinic’s interior when one wasn’t cleaning up vomit stains or blood-spatters.

     A soft clamor of the opening door tears Nancy away from her thoughts, curiously glancing to whomever could be coming in so early.

     “Good morning…” Though surprised, she still smiles sweetly.

     “Is something the matter?”

    Kamil had ended up in Selphia from a tip from one of the many merchants that had traveled through Oak Tree. He was told about a clearing just outside of the Kingdom where the rarest flowers grew - Yokmir Forest, if his memory served him. 

  But within 10 minutes of wandering around the Kingdom, Kamil soon felt very out of place. The people roamed the streets with weapons just hanging by their sides, with talk of monsters and battles taking over almost every conversation, the florist thought he even overheard one local mention a dragon. 

  Needing to clear his head, Kamil rushed into the first building he saw, slamming the door behind him as he caught his breath. Turing his gaze upwards to the kind voice who greeted him, Kam gave an uneasy smile.

  “Hi... Uh, I think there might be something wrong with me?”

AU. 8]

AU: I will write an AU drabble with my character and yours.     

   Kamil heard the door to his dorm creak open, and he watched with a pleasant smile as Gwen crept in, most likely from a late night ride with one of her horses. The barn wasn’t too far from campus, so Kam had become used to his roommates late night and early morning excursions. 

  “It’s okay, I’m still up.” He responded, although his groggy voice seemed to imply otherwise. He pushed himself away from the desk he had been seated at, raising his arms high into the air accompanied with a yawn as he gave his back a much needed stretch.

  Gwen instantly lectured him on still being awake when he had an early morning midterm - and due to his tired nature all Kamil could do was chuckle quietly. That was Gwen, a sisterly figure who had assigned herself the duty as his protector ever since freshman year when she had come across Kam getting picked on -- the butt of a newbie prank. It wasn’t too long after Gwen had stepped in and given them each a good reason to run - red marks from her fist still evident on their faces.

  “Alright, alright.” Kamil new better than to argue with Gwen, and she was right of course, his Botany midterm was bright and early. “You win, I’ll head to bed.”

Night: For the two am text/call

   It was late, sure, but that didn't stop Kamil from picking up the phone and dialing Raegar’s number. His finger hovered above the last digit in a final moment of clarity, but his bad judgement won as he pressed down the button and held the phone to his ear.

    Ringing... Ringing... Pick up - oh goddess what if he’s asleep -- of course he’d be asleep it’s two in the morning what are you do-- click.

   The other man’s voice was groggy but sincere - he seemed worried that Kamil had called so late, and the guilt slowly built up in his stomach. “Raegar... I’m so sorry, but can you talk?” Of course Raegar said yes, he had always been kind to Kamil since the day he set foot in Oak Tree town, and he had always offered his help to the florist no matter what.... including a 2am call.

  And then it all just spilled out, he told Ragear everything, his fears and his anxiety about his career and choices - that he picked something ridiculous, and even though his parents had said they supported their son, could they really? Or were they just saving face? His words and problems gushed out like a waterfall of emotion, and Ragear made sure to reassure him whenever he could fit in a few words. 

  Eventually the sentences blurred together, words slurred into inaudible gibberish as he slowly fell unconscious. Raegar had called out a few times to see if Kamil was still on the line, but the young florist had easily fallen asleep, phone in hand and a wide smile on his face.

[ Turns to face the familiar woman with a soft smile. ] Thank you Reina, that means a lot coming from someone such as yourself.

  Second place?

[Smiles to himself softy as he turns the ribbon over in his hands.]

I’m grateful, but this just means I’ll have to keep working hard.

  Ah well... I’m not quite sure if this counts but vegetables and fruits aren't quite my specialty so I suppose I’ll give this a shot.

  I’ll be entering my own home grown lilium longiflorum, or rather, Easter Lilies. [Smiles slightly, showing off the bouquet he had them presented in. ] They’re really quite the fascinating plant as they can tell time by day length and sun exposure, and by doing this they usually bloom around the time of Easter, hence their name. 

  Now in growing the plant I made sure it had enough exposure to the sun and wasn’t in the shade of anything around it - and I made sure to use fertilizer only when necessary as over fertilizing could rob the soil of nutrients the flower needs. They were watered lightly twice a day and I made sure there was proper drainage so that the extra water wouldn't pull away nutrients for the soil.

  For the display, I mostly used the lilies themselves as they bloom with long stems and bright green foliage is healthy enough but I did add some gysophilia, or ‘baby’s breath’ to fill in some of the space.

Flowers? } Luna/Kamil

Slow, her eyebrows arched upwards as the young man fumbled through his apology. “Uh-huh…” She nodded, blinking expectantly at the taller figure. 

She listened to his explanation, and ran her fingers through her pink curls, glancing once again at the flowers tucked in among them. “Oh, well, in that case, I guess I can forgive you.” 

Luna looked back up at him, mildly surprised that the flowers she wore might be considered rare. “Really? Huh. Well, I think my grandmother said they were called meadowfoam flowers? They mostly grow by the cliffs just outside of town, along the path toward Clarinet Fields?” 

The pinkette paused, bouncing up onto her toes for a second. “I mean, if you know where that is! I don’t think I’ve seen you around here, so that’s kinda up in the air. And I guess the spot is a little tucked away, but I could show you were they are if you want.”

  “Meadowfoam?” Kamil repeated the name, attempting to recall if he’d ever come across the strain himself. He’d certainly heard the name from others as well as his books, but this was certainly the first time he’d seen the beautiful white and yellow flowers in person.

  As she explained the directions to where the flowers grew, Kamil stared blankly, the districts and landmarks sounding completely foreign to him.  “You’d be correct.” Kamil replied with a laugh when she so quickly figured out that he wasn’t from town,“I’m sure I’ve drawn enough attention to myself, but I’m from Bluebell, although currently staying in Oak Tree town.”

  The florist released a sigh of relief when she offered her assistance in finding the fields, but not wanting to bother her, he politely shook his head. “I wouldn't want to inconvenience you more than I already have.”

Yeah! Bees! [He pulls a map of town from the side pocket of his rucksack - one that's been clearly folded and unfolded so many times that there are sections missing from being worn away. The public fields are still visible, however, and Johnny shows the bee and flower field to Kamil.] I wanted to ask you if you knew much about how flowers affect, um-- well, the flavor of the honey in the bee boxes. [Looks to Kamil, eyes wide and slightly worried - wondering if he sounds crazy.]

  [Takes a look at the map and nods slowly in understanding as he finally registers what Johnny was attempting to say. ] So you’re interested in that field? 

  There’s quite a bit to consider in beekeeping... It’s not my forte but when you study flowers you also study the pollinators as well I suppose. [ Nods slowly attempting to recall any information that could help. ] What kind of bees were you thinking of using? The western honey bee is one of the most popular if honey product is what you’re looking for.

Man.. yeah, alright, thanks. [He rubs the back of his neck as he turns to potentially walk away, bummed at himself for having lost the train of thought - before giving a slight start when the memory comes back to him.] Oh! Yes, okay! I remember! [Takes a deep breath, then says simply, too excited at first to get the entire thought out:] Bees!

  [ Nods slowly, he does hope Johnny remembers the question as he’s genuinely curious as to what was so important that it would cause the man to hunt him down. ] I’ll see you then -- 

 [ Eyes widen as he stops and turns back to him but then tilts his head in shock and confusion at what had just left the farmers lips. ] Bees? [He repeated, leaning slightly in. ] What about them, exactly?

Flowers? } Luna/Kamil

Winter was finally gone and Luna sure wasn’t complaining about it. Spring was nice and warm without being unbearably hot (and with less bugs too). Plus, it meant that she could actually take her breaks outside of the shop, and get some nice fresh air. 

She kind of wished she had some ice cream, even. The pinkette reasoned that the Inn must have some, but Maya wasn’t around lately so she’d end up there without much company. Not that that sort of thing ever stopped her from doing something, but it was always nice to chat people up. Socializing was fun. 

While she debated this outside the shop, she noticed someone nearby, but not enough to say anything to them. Or at least, not until they were addressing her directly and pointing. 

Dark lashes blinked rapidly, caught a little off guard by the suddenness of the question. “Huh?” She let out intelligently with one delicate pink eyebrow raising. Instinctively, she reached up to touch the mentioned flowers with the tips of her fingertips. Like she had been reminded they were in her hair in the first place, as if they weren’t there almost everyday without fail.

“Oh! Uh, it’s alright?” Um, strange definitely, but not too much offense was taken. “It’s just not the sort of question I hear everyday, you know?”

   The woman’s startled reaction just made Kamil’s embarrassment worse. If the heat he felt come from his face was any indication, he was sure he must have looked like a red-faced fool. He desperately grasped for words that would fix the situation, turning away as he waited for the warmth to leave his reddened cheeks.

  “I-I’m so sorry.” He finally replied, turning back to the woman with a nervous smile placed upon his features. “I was so lost in thought I - just -- how rude of me.” Kamil clasped a hand over his mouth, shaking his head slowly as he let out an anxious chuckle.  He removed the hand only when he felt like he could properly explain himself and save them both from further embarrassment. 

  “I study flowers... And sometimes the profession comes with a one track mind. I’d never seen the strain you wore in your hair and well...” Another pause and awkward chuckle. “I suppose we both know the rest.”

Misadventure } Kamil/Popuri

Popuri shouted back a cheery goodbye to her brother who was still nagging her about being careful up in the mountains. He mother waved her off calmly as she always does, wishing her daughter a safe and pleasant journey. As she stepped down the porch steps, she slowly began to pull her thick pink locks over to one side. After combing her fingers through it a few times, she started to do a basic braid and was just finishing up when she heard someone call out to her.

“Hm?” The pinkette turned to look up at the stranger, a timid smile on her face. Lost? Well, he must be if he ended up in Mineral Town somehow… At least that’s what she wanted to joke about! But it was a good day today, so she simply nodded her head. “Of course! Where do you need to get to?” Popuri’s smile brightened up a bit, knowing that she’d be able to help him out easily.

  The woman’s gentle nature and cheery reply made Kamil feel instantly relieved by his decision to approach a complete stranger for assistance. At least the stranger he had approached seemed happy to help. “I’m sorry, I should introduce myself first.” He replied, walking up to the woman, outstretching his hand in a polite gesture. 

  “My name’s Kamil... I’m a florist. I came here to study some rare flowers I was told about in this town. They’re supposed to grow up on a hill known as ‘Mother’s Hill’?” He tilted his head to the side curiously, attempting to gauge any reaction from the woman. Has she even heard of this hill, or had he simply been sent on some fool’s errand?

All in a Day’s Work } Kamil / Raegar

“Yes, actually. It’s not at it’s peak yet, of course, but people have been coming in more often.” He knew to keep conversation casual with this particular friend. He’d learned the hard way Kamil was easily startled. “Just give me a moment to get changed and let these customers finish up and then we can go. I’ve got something planned for us so you can open up  a little more.”

Raeger had thought a lot about how to teach Kamil how to run a proper business. Eventually, he came up with how to teach him the first step, which was interaction with people in a relaxed environment. Raeger would slowly turn up the stress level as Kamil got more comfortable.

“We’re going to a flower show! There are going to be some rare ones on display.”

  He nodded along politely as Raegar explained about business, listening to the words with a quiet smile. “Take your time.” He replied, looking off back to the floor of the restaurant where the customers were seated. He was certainly in no rush, after all, he figured this evening would probably lead to potential awkward situations and embarrassment would inevitably follow.

  However, when Raegar announced what it was he had planned, green eyes lit up with excitement. A flower show? Kamil’s grin grew larger and more sincere as he turned his full attention to the chef. “Really?” He looked to the floor briefly, still smiling wide. A situation that he was actually comfortable in wasn't what he was expecting - but he was relieved.

  “Thank you, Raegar. I can’t wait.”

A Trip Home } Lillian/Kamil

Relaxed lilac eyes became somewhat excited as he spoke, smile growing curiously as she listened. “That sounds absolutely lovely- ♪ You have to tell me all about your trip, I’m very curious as to what flowers you studied.” The woman beamed up at the man, setting down her viola beside her as he spoke. “I see- Perhaps I’ll have to take a visit myself.” 

A single hand rose in order to adjust the flowers crowned on her head, before her eyes refocused on the man. “Of course you’re not, I actually just finished my errands for the day. I would love to.”

 Kamil’s eyes widened in surprise - it wasn't often that someone was genuinely interested in his line of work, and it often slipped his mind that Lillian shared his interest in flora. But a gentle and sincere smile crossed his features, and he gave a small nod in response.

  “Well, perfect timing then.” The florist paused in thought, deciding upon where to head for the catch-up. Deciding that it would be more polite to ask his company, he turned his attention to Lillian with yet another smile. “Would you prefer the cafe or the teahouse?”

[After a second of trying to wheeze to catch his breath, he breaks into a series of coughs - having to turn to cough into the crook of his elbow for a second. Finally he finishes, sniffles, then turns back to Kamil with watering eyes.] Huh? Oh, yeah, sorry - I'm good! I saw you walking by and I got excited for a second because I kept forgetting to say something, but I wanted to ask you-- [Suddenly stops talking, his face going blank.] ... Shoot, hold on-- what was it--

[ Stares as the man breaks into a coughing fit. Does he offer help? Does he say something? Blinks as he awkwardly waits for the fit to pass, nervously playing with his hands. ] Ah...?

[ He was excited to see him? Is that what he was trying to say? Kamil’s awkwardness only grew from that point as he stared at his feet checks slightly reddening. ]

You...? [Blinks slowly as he processes all of this information.] I am glad you stopped to say hello at least.
