Just realised I don’t have an intro post.

I AM KHARAK XZA, LOYAL SERVANT OF NAGASH, THE LICH KING.

This is a gimmick blog I made but is also my main blog. It is primarily warhammer content, wizardry and silly skeleton stuff.

Anything written in all caps is in character and lowercase is ooc.

I am also known as @real-british-empire

Should probably also mention I go by he/him.

Stormvermin Eternal?

An idea I've had in my head for awhile is the idea that in Age Of Sigmar, a skaven could - by some stroke of luck - become a Stormcast Eternal. I'm not the most well read on Age Of Sigmar lore, and I'm mostly trying to justify an idea I think is funny, but here me out on this.

Stormcast are made when Sigmar yoinks the soul of someone who defied and fought against Chaos as they die, and reforges them into a magical super warrior. The Great Horned Rat is a Chaos God, so defying him would count, right?

So what if a skaven did just that? They aren't demons, and in Warhammer Fantasy there was an attempted skaven revolt. Said revolt ended in abject failure, but it happened once, so why can't it happen again?

It wouldn't even need to be a case of a skaven somehow becoming a good person. They could just be a lowly slave who's fed up of being abused and used by everyone and says, "Fuck-screw this! I'm fighting The Great Horned Rat to get good-better life! Yes-yes!" Even if the motivation was selfish, it would still be acting against a Chaos god, and based on the circumstances, it could end up saving innocent lives, even if that's not the intent.

That would qualify a skaven for being a Stormcast, and Tornus the Redeemed shows that Sigmar can take souls from Chaos if they renounce it. Why does the renouncment of Chaos have to be because of guilt? Why can't it be simply because someone gets fed up of their living conditions?

Again, I'll admit I'm just clutching at straws because I find the idea of Sigmar taking a skaven from The Great Horned Rat, cladding them in gold, and sending them to fight the foes of Order just to flex on The Chaos Gods funny. I know there's issues here. But tell me it wouldn't be funny to imagine the sight.

An army of golden armoured warriors and heroes, defending the innocent from bloodthirsters or deamonettes. And among them is one large ratman wearing gold and yelling, "For honour-glory! For Sigmar! Yes-yes!" All the while Sigmar is laughing at his enemies, because he managed to steal from them.

I think I know why this wouldn’t work.

Skaven are a creation of chaos. Most theories about skaven’s origin are directly tied to the warp usually being warpstone related.

It’s because of this warp connection that I believe Sigmar wouldn’t be able to resurrect them. They’re bound to the warp. They’re so tainted by it that I don’t believe Sigmar would want to or is able to reforge them.

Probably not the kind of game most people are thinking of but warhammer AoS completely changed my opinion of warhammer 40K when I played it.

At the time I wasn’t really a big 40K fan. I played it lots and loved the lore but the actually tabletop gameplay and the treatment of my armies from Games Workshop was … bad

Then I played AoS.

I realised what good gameplay get like. What fun and interesting rules were.

I had fun and it permanently altered my thoughts of 40K

I hated 10th.

It’s mainly because I play drukhari.

Over a decade of nothing, and you give more models to the second space marine release?

Rumours and leaks look good for drukhari from all I’ve heard so I’m hopeful!

The new charge rules seem nice and it looks like they’re adding back a bit of complexity/narrative.

One of the things I didn’t like about 10th was how cut and paste the rules felt. Get this keyword, get this weapon ability. Lead this lead that. Get a reroll here and there.

I’m hoping it becomes more like AoS in a lot of senses.

AoS has so many fun and unique rules and 40K in comparison feels just so … bland.

And like, either make psychic abilities their own phase again or integrate them with the game better than a shitty keyword.

We haven’t got enough info on it though.

THEY ARENT BONES, NAGASH IS SPLIT INTO SOUL SHARDS THAT, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, POP UP EVERY NOW AND AGAIN AND ASSUME CONTROL OF AN UNDEAD LEGION.

I BELIVE SOME OF THE NIGHTHAUNT (ghosts) HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO SOMEWHAT SUMMON SHARDS.
