^^^What you should focus on in this image–is the blood on Zack’s face. It was not shown in the anime. Therefore, the blood on windowsill is actually his.

vvv These 2 images suggests that they indeed jumped out the window. Also if you put the volume up, there’s a whoosh sound effect of them jumping off.
