just thinking how post-canon sunday probably thinks they can’t be anything but enemies after what he’d done (he didn’t regret using everything he had against aven nor was bitter about the loss, but thought what he did was too much for any hope of friendship) and since aven must hate the sight of him, he’d just keep a good distance too, but then aven read that as sunday disliking him. aven did feel unnerved after what happened in penacony, but it’s always better to make “friends”… and sunday’s distanced attitude makes him annoyed somehow, like this fugitive doesn’t even want to look at him now ? he’s not the one who ruined the dreamscape… well he did a little bit, but it didn’t matter as much compared to the other fiasco, and sunday was in the ipc’s debt. the table’s turned on this all-powerful head of the oak family, yet he’s still the same acting all put-together, didn’t even look angry seeing aven, only disinterest. so he doubled down on getting sunday’s contacts to the latter’s confusion, and they began this strange not-enemy-not-friend relationship.
aven would start messaging sunday about penacony-related issues, then info on the family, which sunday was reluctant to share then was convinced by aven saying that he could give back info that the astral express didn’t have, even robin’s whereabouts. then sunday would start texting aven for those info, partly bcs he wanted to keep this back-and-forth with aven. they’d sometimes stray into long conversations about economics and different business markets, with sunday commenting on the governance of planets where aven was having projects at (it didn’t make sense to share, and yet sunday was so utterly separate from it all and so easy to talk to - he could follow along aven’s pace and was just as sharp on details, and had a whole different perspective so their views weirdly complemented each other, and they’d talked for long enough that aven knew sunday wouldn’t sabotage him and couldn’t, and though aven would sometimes be reminded of how much sunday knew, the other never seemed interested to use it for anything other than making sure aven was comfortable and well - it was kinda aggravating to admit that he felt remarkably comfortable next to a man who’d looked inside his head).
and sometimes, he’d accidentally call the other while drunk, and those days when it was impossible to sleep sunday would accompany him for long hours on end, talking from random tidbits to philosophical musings that sounded like white noise, but sunday’s voice was like a lullaby - he couldn’t sleep, but it was enough to keep him distracted. times it got so bad that he was reminded of the nihility, of that nothingness… but then he would hear a melody from the piano, sometimes the whisper of a song, that took him back to the present. he’d joke about how the family would come after sunday immediately if he became an idol like robin, but was somehow a bit relieved that only he got to hear such beautiful pieces, of having this man’s attention all to himself.
he’d fallen for sunday, and thought of feeling up those wings and kissing that grievously beautiful face every time he “accidentally” came across the other. but that’s just ridiculous, sunday was only tolerating his presence, they’d come this far to something like friendship now… he couldn’t bear to lose any of it if his feelings were to be known. and yet he wanted sunday to talk to him more, until he was the only one reflected in those beautiful golden eyes.
but he’s not the only one, and one day sunday would let slip just how much he cares for the other, how he wants more from this “friendship” of theirs as well.
some parallels & contrasts & links between sunday and aventurine:
- overcautious, uptight, likely trust issues & low self-opinion & insecure & self-destructive (derived or pointed out in quest)
- put on a facade while dealing with others, heavily performance-themed (sunday with his 3 act play and literally fighting on a stage, aven also boss fight on stage and quest had him reminiscing while running around a stage)
- more performance related (sunday’s choir theme, his trailer & liking for fine music, aven’s pov quest ending with him “going on stage” and putting on a show for his gamble)
- past, present and future (sunday’s history lesson, aven’s “other selves” after being harmony’d, penacony both being a turning point for them to sorta move on from the past)
- sister and family (both love their family more than themselves, both have lost part or all of it and had to cope without actual parental figures in unfriendly environment)
- “blessed” in their own path (sunday being powerful enough in harmony to usurp dominicus and touch ena, aven “never loses”)
- religious theme (aven still practicing gaithra’s rituals, sunday almost-god)
- tangent paths (sunday with his order and divine laws i.e. things must happen this way, aven with his luck and destiny i.e. this will happen)
- caged bird/ captive theme (sunday and his dove, aven and slave + prison theme, both seem as though they control their own fate but not really)
- 2 sides of the same coin (not risking anything and risking everything, control everything vs leaving the final hand in luck, knowing everything vs hiding everything, save everyone vs destroy the world)
- both yapper in a way (charmony dove sunday would probs talk at length about things he knows/ has mulled over, see how aven has much to share about things he knows in his voicelines)
- colors (playable: dark vs bright pants, blue+white coat vs green+black coats, gold theme everywhere; family head vs stoneheart: white suit dark inner shirt vs black suit white inner shirt; sunday’s gold eyes and aven’s blond, aven’s eyes kinda similar to ena’s eye with vibrant shades like sunday’s harmony thingy)
- crazy (one’s a crazed gambler and the other’s been called a lunatic)
- lost (aven seemed lost on what to do before penacony, plus self-destructive methods, then he found resolution after the slash to live on; sunday had it all planned out before penacony, plus self-destructive methods, then he lost it all and now finding new ways to the future)
- their voiceline about the other is slightly off (sunday described aven’s plan as a grand performance - which he is known to like - then giggled before saying he wants to “clash on stage” again; aven is mostly confident/ chill talking about others & their affiliation but complains about sunday’s method - did not mention halovian or The Family - and then wants to observe sunday’s new plan/ game)
- unjust destiny (their past of suffering, but also their shared outlook on life being inherently unfair and assigning “value” to people)
- referencing the other (wonweek mentioned aven as an influence, aven’s past got explored as he got harmony’d by sunday, “inherently unjust destiny” featuring him being questioned by sunday into revealing his past and feelings, sunday’s voiceline to aven about keeping principles when “golden touch” started with “winning 200% but losing all principles”)
My version of fem Sunday just for fun dont take it seriously ough. I try to stick as close to the original as possible but idk, call it an exercise lol. Will I draw her again, idk maybe I made the whole ref so the chance is high
One day, after dinner, while my younger sister and I were lounging about in Mr. Gopher Wood's yard, we spotted a fledgling Charmony Dove all on its own. That baby bird was tiny, it didn't even have all of its feathers, and it couldn't sing. When we found it, it was already on its last breath, having fallen into a shrub — probably abandoned by its parents. We decided to build a nest for it right there and then. However, thinking back, that winter was unusually cold, with fierce winds at night in the yard, not to mention the many poisonous bugs and wild beasts in the vicinity... It was clear that if we left the fledgling in the yard, it stood no chance of surviving until spring. So, I suggested we take it inside, place it on the shelf by the window, and asked the adults to fashion a cage for it. We decided that when it regained its strength enough to spread its wings, we would release it back into the wild. The tragic part — something that we'd never considered — was that this bird's fate had already been determined long before this moment... Its destiny was determined by our momentary whim. Now, I pass the power of choice to you all. Faced with this situation, what choice would you make? Stick to the original plan, and build a nest with soft net where the Charmony Dove fell? Or build a cage for it, and feed it, giving it the utmost care from within the warmth of a home? I eagerly await your answer
