I need more recs of stories where Klaus is absolutely a puppy for Caroline in his wolf form. I've reread The Big, Bad Wolf by Morningstargirl666 and I love the scenes where Ansel and Sam are basically having to manhandle wolf Klaus away from Caroline. I love him being a puppy for her. I need more stories with that energy. Even if it's just a small scene in the story. It's so adorable.
“Barbie, what did you bring into this house?!”
“Chill, Damon, not like he hasn’t been here like a bajillion times before.” Caroline rolled her eyes and kept striding down the hall.
“Is that ..?!” Elena gasps as Damon and Stefan push her behind them.
“Klaus,” Stefan grimly confirmed.
Fangs pulled back in a wolfy grin, the enormous shadowy canid figure trotted down hall, nails clacking merrily against the hardwood underfoot. There was as a small scuffling screech of claws against the centuries old wood as the object of his obsession came back around the corner, bags of blood in her arms.
“We talked about this, Klaus, a little breathing room, okay?”
A fluffy tail whirred into life, a small current that gradually picked up as his muzzle pointed unerringly at the slim blonde vampire. Caroline couldn’t help but melt … so sue her! She was always a sucker for mutts, and there was none so muttley muddled as the Bastard Cub himself … how was his eyes so similar in this form as his other? Care always wanted a dog … secretly she wanted a special friend just for herself, and always rued the “next” birthday promised pup that never came to be as her parents imploded before said promised pup could be delivered.
She would never admit how much she cried when Liz had declined to foster the retired K-9 that Mystic Falls used to have. Liz’s excuse had been that Caroline was too busy being “needlessly social” with all her afternoon activities, despite Caroline having taken on much of these in an effort to prove herself capable of responsibility.
“Klaus!” The rolling eyes and slight huff were all for show; Caroline had to use her free hand to stuff a straw in one of the blood bags and sip before she did something so suicidal as carding her fingers through the thick ruff of fur ringing a deep chest. Not that she thought Klaus would bite her - again - no.
Care took the time to use a convenient side table to toss the remaining blood bags in the insulated tote she brought for this purpose.
“Still no explanation forthcoming, Blondie.”
The guttural growl had everyone freezing in momentary primal solidarity. Every eye unwittingly locked on the origin of the threat.
Where Klaus’s human form was lithe and the power he contained was mostly hidden under layers of Henley and slacks, the same could not be said of his wolf form. Despite having lean lines, there was no hiding the powerful musculature that warned of the power that could and would be brought to the fore at a moment’s need.
His coat was not a single color, and filled with dark browns and golds and tans, even a bit of black or red just as his human coif adorned his body. Pointy ears and a tapered muzzle in the same manner as his wild brethren, and his paws were the size of small salad plates at least tipped with wicked thick claws. He definitely stood taller than the average wolf, not quite as tall as a Great Dane, but at least mastiff sized.
“Look, he was like this when I showed up here, so …” Caroline gestured with her now empty plastic in emphasis before she tucked it neatly into her bag to dispose of later. “If you all didn’t have anything to do with it, then he was either taking his new-old-form out for a spin or been cursed in this form … I mean, if I waited a thousand years to switch forms then I would be in and out of both forms as many times as possible.”
“He’s creepy,” Damon glared but couldn’t quite meet the actual wolf gaze as he could the man version. He was having a very visceral primordial response to the giant wolf in his home and he was not happy at the reminder. Unlike Barbie and Elena, he very well remembered when wolves were a very real and prominent threat.
It was so easy to see the predator hidden within the manly facade.
“You’re creepy!”
“Care!”, “Caroline!” Elena and Stefan tripped over their matching censure and Caroline did roll her eyes again.
“Whatever. I just came to stock up, but I’m going to go now before one of you has to rush about to find some pearls to clutch. See you at school, guys. Damon, never a pleasure.”
Caroline didn’t stop to wait for a response and just grabbed her tote of bounty. She wouldn’t say she was running away per se … she just didn’t have the energy for the lecture that was bound to be launched her way. It was practically science!
Maybe a teensy, tiny bit of Mean Girl!Caroline enjoyed being the one to have the last word for once since the Salvatore’s return.
The sun dappled through the trees as she made her way through the woods at a leisurely pace. Wildlife trilled and she could make out the burble of a creek in the distance.
Warm breath near the hand not keeping the tote close to her body reminded her of her unexpected companion.
“Don’t read anything into this,” she warned those silver and honey orbs set in a furry face.
She was helpless as her hand reached out ( can I pet that dawg?!) and found the soft-coarse fur surrounding the closest black-fur tipped ear and gave into the urge to scritch that velvety spot.
