Mushi no tareginu è«ăźćèĄŁ (travelling attire) by Nadeshiko Rin. This is I think on of the medieval outfit you guys are the most curious about. It is so recognizable, itâs one of my favourite too :D
This travelling outfit was worn by noble women during Kamakura era. Because of the Shogunate was set in this town, people came and go. Despite the inherent dangers of travelling, women were not an unsual sight on the roads. Most of them were pilgrims, visiting shrines and temples.Â
Nowadays, this attire is also named uchikatsugi, though to be precise, katsugi is another type of medieval head covering with a special kimono-like garment put over the head.
The trademark item of this attire is the long veil made from thin karamushi è§éș» (ramie) which over time was transcribed as mushi è« (insect). It was used to shield wearer from the wind/rain/sun, and as protection from insects. It also shielded women from prying eyes, protecting their identity and privacy.

ichimegasa ćžć„łçŹ - a large straw hat worn by womenâ
kakeobi æă枯 - a red ribbon tied around the torso and hanging low on the back, used by women to signal they were on pilgrimage
kakemamori æăćź - amulet box holding sutra or omamori
kazari himo éŁŸăçŽ - decorative strings, also used to hold the veil opened
uchiki èąż - the court clothing of the time. For travel, women would tuck their hems up with a string around their waist
kyahan èç” - gaiters/leg warmers
tsue æ - walking stick, often made from bamboo
obuto no zĂŽri ç·ć€Șăźè汄 - type of shoes worn by the noble class (with thick hanao straps)
