re derek's retconned age: yes we all know the timeline of teen wolf is messed up and difficult to line up, added onto that is that tyler hoechlin is older so despite the pilot establishing that derek is 19[or more specifically only a few years older than scott and stiles], the writers make vague "corrections" that state that derek is older than previously established. however i think this is dumb for several reasons, first being, upon rewatch derek is just a little baby! he's so young! and scared! like yeah actually i can and do believe he could be 19 but just looks like he's older because he's a werewolf! and he's trying to act older/mature bc this other dumbass kid is getting roped into this traumatizing life of his. secondly, im still willing to believe he's younger in s2 and on because the show gives a perfect excuse in the following seasons when they established that natural borm werewolves age differently than humans. what that means, ive still yet to fully figure out other than to be confusing and annoying to stiles. but it could be an explanation as to why (especially after his brief stint as alpha) derek appears to be physically older within a short period of time despite being like 20-21
Something I find really funny, is teens tend to look at s1 Derek and see grown ass man. Adults tend to look at s1 Derek and see a barely adult might as well still be considered a teen.
Derek does not act like an adult because of trauma.
And I also don't get the whole he looks older than he is.
I'm 35, according to society I don't look my age. My husband just turned 37 and it's the same with him, he doesn't look his age.
I see teens looking in their 20's, I see 20's and 30's year olds looking like teens and early 20's. I think the whole 'what a certain age looks like' is bullshit.
I watched the show for the first time a few years ago, in my early thirties. I thought Derek was supposed to be like 19/20 due to how he acts and Stiles' comment about him being only a few years older than them. So I'm thinking ok someone recently out of high school. And he acts like that age.
They should have stuck with his original given age. All the actors for the teen characters didn't look like high schoolers. So why should how Derek looks matter? He doesn't act like a grown ass man.
Derek is still just a kid who is all alone and lost. He has no idea what he's doing and he's in survival mode. And yet Derek is judged harsher than the actual adults in the show.
Yeah just because Hoechlin can grow a beard and it made him look older, a lot of people just accepted that. Although it's funny now that Hoechlin IS the age people say Derek was back then, it's quite clear he *wasn't* 35+ and having a beard doesn't just make someone older.
It's always funny to me because in season 1 Derek does look quite young, he fits for being 19 - and Hoechlin was only 22/23 when season 1 was filmed, so quite young still (and yet people like to act like Derek and Hoechlin were a lot older) and the writers just...kinda vaguely aged him up because Derek got a beard.
And I think that's why Derek's age became something so up in the air, because the writers first messed up with the Kate storyline, but then instead of letting Derek be like 22 with a beard he had to be older, somehow, or some weird hybrid age with that weird werewolf age thing Peter brought up (but was never mentioned again).
Like Derek ages 6 years in just 2 years somehow but everyone ages appropriately. Like it makes no sense. (And antis love to just say Derek. is 30+ when even the actor himself wasn't that old in the first place.)
And yeah, the actors for Lydia, Allison, Malia, Isaac, Kira - all older than Hoechlin and yet they are passed off as high schoolers but not him? (or someone fresh out of high school) All because he could grow a beard? And got more buff when he was an Alpha? Lol okay.
Also there's the fact that it took 6 years to make 6 seasons of the show, but it only takes place over 2 years, so of course all the actors aged more than their characters in that time too. But only Derek catches strays over this? It's so ridiculous and unfair.
Also in later seasons Derek being paired more with the *adult* adults like Chris and the Sheriff when he's closer to the teenagers' ages was totally wild. And probably why people started to have the perception of him being older than he was.
Scott: Can you come collect your freak of a husband, please? He's doing things.
Stiles: No, I set Peter loose on purpose. He needs enrichment.
The Wolf Pack + What They Are Doing At Pride
Sam: Brings the water bottles and makes everyone use tracker apps because most of them have a terrible sense of direction when they're in human form. He drinks a lot of fruity cocktails and starts dancing on table tops while the pack films him.
Jacob: Keeps looking for good Pride merch for Billy because Billy wants to fit in with the cool kids. Finds Edward walking by and instinctively chucks a snowcone at him. Edward dodges, but then Jake calls Bella and asks why her boyfriend is at Pride without her. She simply responds that Edward's gay but she supports his lifestyle and hangs up.
Embry: Meets a cute trans girl and almosts fumbles because the boys keep embarrassing him so he takes her out on a mini date. She wins him a big wolf plushie and he instantly melts. They end up going out and the pack tease him about it endlessly for months.
Paul: Has to be physically restrained from turning to a wolf because he wants to fit in with the furries. He yaps with the gay muscle daddies over bodybuilding and gets invited to join their gym group, which he's excited about because the pack couldn't care less about his workout advice.
Leah: Immediately ditches the guys and meets the online sapphic group she found last year. She brings friendship bracelets she made out of leather to give to her friends. She pretends not to know the rowdy boys wearing jorts doing a backflip competition in the middle of the street.
Quil: Comes across an eccentric nonbinary indigenous individual and assumes they're a trickster god, but obviously can't prove it. Suspicions aside, he does receive good advice that will help him with his own gender identity journey, but since there was no one else around, he's not sure if that interaction was real. Then he sees the person later doing body shots with femme lesbians and it makes him feel better.
Jared: Gets in trouble with kinksters almost immediately and has to lay low for the rest of the day. The boys keep putting accessories on him to give him a disguise and while some people compliment him on his style, other people assume he's on molly and asks him where the plug is.
Seth: Is adopted by the drag queens, gets a makeover, and does competitive voguing, something he always wanted to try after watching Rupaul's Drag Race. He came home wearing a wig and high heels, but it wasn't the first or even second time he did that so it went without comment.
Before I inevitability draw Sterek for this lovely month. I want to draw my other favorite ship...

I shall die on the hill that Kira would be BI and Malia would be PAN!!!
Les dances Ă travers le monde
Stiles (clinking his glass): I want to make a toast for my dad.
Stiles: Who told me I couldn't be gay dressed like I usually do.
Stiles: Now I'm married to an alpha werewolf with abs for days.
Everyone: *clapping awkwardly*
Stiles: Where's Danny? Danny, remember how I kept asking you if I was attractive to gay guys.
Stiles: Well... Seems like I am attractive to guys with biceps bigger than my head.
Isaac (whispering to Derek): Is this how you imagined your wedding?
Derek: Word for word.
Watch what you say Derek, that sassy lost child is about to be the catalyst of an incredible 20-minute character arc for you in a moment.
Time for another meme redraw 𫶠One Punch Man is another of my forever loves so this felt long overdue! (ignore how it doesn't make sense in this setting since Erica literally dragged Stiles there on Derek's command - my brain insisted it'd be funny with the pool scene and who am i to argue)

The incident that prompted the Corps to form their first ever HR department
also i watched Weapons last night finally and i want hunters to spray paint WITCH on Stilesâ jeep because heâs Derekâs emissary or in the process of becoming it and he keeps âabusingâ his new found skill to fuck with them lol
Stiles refuses to wash the jeep for a while. he finds it too hilarious. Derek is like WASH THAT SHIT STILES ITS STRESSING ME OUT THAT MEANS THEY HAVE YOU ON THEIR SHIT LIST.
Derek doesnât like it when hunters focus on anyone other than himself especially Stiles.

revelations
I feel sorry for the old man, but it was stealing. There is no apparently about it. Water is not free, itâs not a right to have it, and people pay must pay for it. If a government gives a thing to you like utilities, its still not free because they take it from somewhere else, like in taxes. Â
my friend visiting my house: hey iâm thirsty can i get a glass of water
me:
Nestle isnât gonna fuck you
Also water IS a human right, itâs classified as one by the UN the only country that really disagrees with this is the United States
I know this post is a few years old, but I stumbled on it and I just want to also point out⌠Even aside from water being free or not, even aside from water being a human right,
the old man wasnât stealing.
He was using a neighborâs water, that the neighbor pays for, with the neighborâs permission. Nothing was stolen. The old man just wasnât the one paying. If someone comes to my house and I let them charge their phone while theyâre there, are they STEALING electricity because Iâm the one who pays the electric bill? If I take someone out to dinner, are they STEALING their meal if I pay for both of us? Get fucked.
I hope that person has become a better kinder person since 2021, but I"m not holding my breath.
