Emotional Post About Change.
Hey everyone,
I am going to do something I have never done before tomorrow: Live on my own.
Yep, that's right, I am moving. To Columbia, MO. My lease will end on July 31st and who knows what will happen then, but for now, I will be 2 hours away from STL (or hour and a half if you drive like that. Whatever, jerks.) Although I have spent many days in CoMo, having been born there, visiting extended family who live there 5-6 times every year my whole life and what not, but change is change, amirite? It will be so strange to have my own room for only the 3rd time in my life (out of 8 places I've lived, now 9) but I will be in great company there. Excited to become a member of another scene.
Also, I'd like to take this occasion to say that I... am changing my project name. I will start performing as my own name now, Jake Leech. I have gone over and over about this (to the extreme dismay of everyone that knows me) but it was a need for change. Kid Counselor served me well and I loved all that I have done with it. But the name felt old and done. Anytime someone who ask me what my "band" was called, I would say "Kid Counselor" and I would cringe on the inside and they would go "Oh..." with a distant, weird face thinking, "WTF kind of band name is that?" I also just don't see myself performing with that name when I'm 30, and I want so bad to still be doing this when I am at least 30. The music I perform and record from now on isn't going to be all that different, but there will be all new songs when the inspiration comes. I was going to announce this with some new album on deck or a single, but I just felt this this is just a minor thing, and why try to make it bigger than it is? But still, I would like to put some new stuff out. Hopefully soon. Don't want to keep making promises to myself and online to say it's happening. It will. Not now, but it will.
Until then, consider this the end of "Watching the Trees Go By". I will keep it in existense for the memories and I will probably still "<3" things of yours for now, but alas, this be the end of posting here.
Thanks for everything y'all,
Jake Leech
