Happy Birthday, Kidutus!

This comic has meant a lot to me for a very long time. It is the combination of all my favorite things. I’ve met amazing people with amazing ideas through its creation. Having people be so interested in my hobby that they create their own characters and roleplay them- I’m so honored. I’m so thankful for all my readers, especially those who seem to stick around despite the unknowable update schedule. It’s been quite the journey. Thank you.

That being said, I’m going to be officially putting Kidutus on hiatus.

To some, the idea of waiting a year or so for an update is nothing new, and I’m very sorry about that. I love Kidutus so much. I have ALWAYS been thinking about Kidutus. I will sketch out the plot, work through dialogue, brainstorm characters and interactions, take time to write it all down so I don’t forget. I will make a handful of panels and then not get the energy to work on it again for another month. I absolutely think about Kidutus in some way every single day. I always want to update. I’ve just made a rule of keeping my education and mental health first, and that can leave readers hanging for some time.

The difference this time, the first time I’ve ever officially called on a hiatus, is that I recognize what’s ahead of me. My education is coming to an end (graduating in May!) and I’m going to be making a HUGE transition in life. I’ll be switching from school to finding a whole job – with luck, a career – and that takes time and dedication. I’m going to be moving, shuffling apartments with my family… I don’t want to make it too personal. It’s just huge.

I can’t say when I’ll be able to get back into updating. There’s so much in the air, and events could tack on even more time that I’ll need to spend away. I want to say about a year at the very least. In the meantime, I’ll be staying on the edges of this server, as I do. I don’t plan on taking it down or archiving it since people do talk here, but expect the same quiet amount of activity as usual.

Again, thank you to my readers, and an extra dose of espresso for those who’ve been here for years. I love Kidutus, and I hope to get the chance to continue writing it in the future. Thank you.

But in all seriousness, I'm always *wanting* to work on it, so its very hard to "plan" a hiatus. Sorry for the inactivity, but Kidutus is a hobby and life ends up coming first most of the time.

i just wanna say i remember when this comic started out and following it almost religiously for a while lol, and theorising about abby not having a phobia and lucas having panphobia and Kidutus doing something with that. im really happy this comic is coming as far as it is and its so cool to see more and more people like it!! youre a really talented story teller, i hope you continue to do work like this in the future (and i hope i can continue to see & enjoy it!)

5 is nb! they go by they/them. sorry haha i meant nb characters that are alive currently. The other characters who are trans at the moment are......

Hi! I just picked up this comic today and I gotta say I love it! Out of curiosity, is there gonna be more trans+nb rep in the comic? I'm a little bummed out after seeing the only confirmed trans rep die off really quick ;_;

thanks! :D also, yes absolutely. in fact, there are trans characters in the comic right now, just not nb at the moment. We have plenty of characters to meet in the future tho ;)
