I’m wondering if I should go and watch Solo this weekend...

I just want to watch it because of Emilia and a certain character that shows up as a surprise, but otherwise I’m dreading to go. I do not like Han Solo, not even the original, and I’m not interest in watching a whole movie on his origins with a non-lookalike actor. And after TLJ dissapointment I wary on spending any money on the franchise...I suppose I will just go if we do not find anything more interesting to do in the weekend.

I watched TLJ and I changed my mind a little bit (mild spoilers ahead)

I posted a rant before when I read the spoilers. I was decided to not watch the movie in the cinema (I’m that averse to spend money on something I think I will hate) but last night I ended up watching for free! I received a cinema ticket as compensation because the theatre I went could not show Coco in English due to a malfunction (they also gave me a refund. I don’t speak the local language of the country I’m right now, so I could not watch the dubbed version. I’m sad because I have not been able to watch Coco yet, but that’s another story). So, I watched TLJ waiting to hate it... I did not...not completely at least.

I think is a good movie. Not close to being a masterpiece, but a good movie. Rey is a good protagonist. Ridley, Driver and Hamill acting was great!...T

The problem with TLJ is that it doesn’t exist in a vacuum and at the end of the day, it does not fit into the story of the 7 previous movies in a harmonious way.

In comparison, while TFA was a simple not an outstanding movie (I really liked Rey and Finn as new protagonists, but I disliked the setting with a failed Republic and the bad copy of the Empire), it was ok, it fitted in the overall saga and it ended with a promise of a better follow-up in the future. You still could watch  the eps. 1 to 7 and feel you were on the same path to complete the saga.  In a way,  TLJ is more interesting and better made, but it tries to bring change not with a smooth transition, but with a forceful move that ends up feeling like a foreign attack to the things I loved and the story I have been following. 

I think TLJ tramples over some of the core parts of the Star Wars story that episodes 1-6 told.  By removing the Skywalker family from the center of the story and giving Luke the ending they did I think TLJ breaks the flow of the movies and ends up destroying the continuity of the saga (I believe that Kylo is irredeemable and with him, the Skywalker bloodline will die.  Of course they always can make him redeem himself next movie in some ass pull way, and making someone pregnant with his baby to continue but honestly I’m not sure that will work). While episodes 1-6 still are consistent as parts of the same story.  With TLJ, TFA  was sent to be lost in space since it doesn’t work anymore as a bridge between the old movies and the new ones and TLJ because it .

I just read the spoilers of Star Wars The Last Jedi. I'm so disheartened by them

I want them to be fake, but lot of different people have said they are not.

If true, It's seems to me that Disney is trying to erase the Skywalkers from Star Wars. They want to dissociate the franchise from the family. Rey is a nobody/random which completely confirm her Mary Sue status: She a nobody, with NO training, was/is more powerful than the grandson of the Chosen one who was trained by one of the most powerful Jedi ever!! Come on. I'm all for a strong female lead, I begged for her, but this writing is awful. If they wanted a nobody to be the lead of a new Star Wars franchise they should have started her own story in one of the Star Wars Stories and not as lead of Star Wars Episodes. I would not cry foul for her being so overpowered if she would have started her own story separated from the characters we have known for decades. But now it feels that our beloved characters are just used to hype her up.

And the only Skywalker alive after this movie is emo/spoiled Kylo, who went to the dark side for the lols (he does not have the backstory than Anakin had to justify his evilness) and killed his own father! And this is the end to the Skywalker saga! Ugghhhh

Dont care how beautiful or well-one the movie is if the plot is so shitty. whatever...

I'm travelling right now so I have not booked a ticket for the movie. I'll wait for more confirmation of the spoilers, if true I'm thinking of simply avoiding the movie. It's not worth it to pay for it if I'm just going to rant in the theatre. That money will be better used in one of the Oscar-contender movies that are expanding now.

After hearing the song and learning that Dan’s voice was augmented to fit the Beast, I was curious to hear what this song sounded like in his normal voice. Though I think this is a close estimate, I couldn’t find any of his live vocals to compare.

I Loved it.

It’s a georgeous movie.

Musical scenes were great. Singing was good (I know people critizes Emma but for me she sang well, I’m not an expert musician though)

Belle and Beast had excellent chemistry. I love the Beast song, “Evermore” ;_;

Kong: Skull Island

I just watched this movie.Best part, thankfully, was Kong and the island setting.

I was delighted with the action scenes. Kong and the rest of the local fauna were exciting. Fortunately, Kong is a prominent and visible character, unlike Godzilla, who was hidden for most of its own movie.

Other elements of the movie suffered from some the same problems of the Big Monster movies we have had:

The dialogue was mediocre.

Humour was ineffective; forced in some parts where they made obvious it was a comedy scene and we were supposed to laugh. It did not work, of course.

The story was forgettable Many human characters to follow; no one interesting enough to root for.

Also, they shamelessly put a Chinese actress to grab money. The poor woman barely pronounced a word and her character had zero relevance to the story. If they want to grab new audiences by hiring famous local actors, producers should at least make an effort to give them an interesting participation. It is insulting for the audiences to just put a face without a role there and ask for the money.

Just for the splendid King Kong I rate this 6/10

Weird as it sounds, I feel I’m going to like movie-Shishio more like Mamura! ...he seems to have more chemistry with movie-Suzume than Mamura as opposed to what happened in the manga. =_=...
