Bonus Blog

I decided to do this blog about things I do not like. Now in this blog I hope you won’t think that I’m a very negative person, but there are a lot of things I strongly dislike. To start off, I hate it when people are extremely loud in a classroom, public setting or professional setting and can’t compose themselves in the proper manner. They just don’t know how to act around the proper crowd. Like I can admit I’m very loud when I get around my friends and family but you won’t see me screaming and acting crazy when I’m around other people. Some people just don’t get it like… SHUT UP ALREADY. They just love attention. That’s something else I hate, attention seekers. They have to make everything about them and but in everything. Another thing I hate is people that cough or yarn in my face without covering their mouths. They are literally one inch away from me and think that it’s cool. Like I’m not trying to get sick like you. I think it’s just rude and gross. I don’t want to smell your breath because your too lazy to cover your mouth. Oh, and if they sneeze too. I mean occasionally I get you can’t cover your mouth but All’ll the time isn’t right. Something else I hate is when girls don’t do their makeup right and end up looking like clowns. Like their foundation be 10 shades lighter, their eyebrows just look crazy, and contour is just ridiculous. I love seeing girls have fleecy eyebrows like that just makes me so happy. Something else I hate is when I can tell the difference between real hair and fake hair on anyone’s head. Like come on it isn’t that hard. I should not be able to see your hair unblended. If anything, wear a hat or something. I strongly believe that people just don’t care about these kinds of things. When I am on the train, and there isn’t a lot of people, and I am sitting at one end of the cart and someone gets on and sits near me, like across from me or next to me. I just get so tight. Like why? Why would you ever? Or when I am sitting down and someone stands right in front of me so it’s just awkward and all you can do is be on your phone.

Soca Music

For this week’s blog, I must introduce a type of music that you may not be familiar with. The genre that I chose was Soca. Soca music originally comes from the Caribbean and played by musicians from, Antigua & Barbuda, Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, and the Bahamas. It also plays a large role when it comes to Caribbean carnivals and events. Caribbean carnivals are basically a huge parade where people dress up in costumes that are colorful and full of glam, roads are blocked off for those who are in the parade, dancing occurs, music (mainly soca) is being played, drinking occurs and people sell food and drinks. Basically, no matter what Caribbean party you go to, there is guaranteed to be Soca music playing. Soca music is very up-beat and up-lifting. If you are having a bad day, just listen to some Soca music and start dancing. Soca music mainly includes, drums, steel-pan, bongos, guitars, sometimes the piano and many more instruments. If you ever attended any West-Indian island carnival or even the Labor Day parade in the city, you will see many of these instruments being played on top of big trucks. This music isn’t slow at all or sad so you won’t get in your bag about an ex or something, instead it will probably encourage you to dance on someone, forget your troubles and enjoy yourself. A lot of the Soca songs, talk about whining, drinking, partying and just having fun. It can be hard for some people to understand what the singer is saying in the song due to their accents and speed of the songs, trust me I had the same problem. I could learn the lyrics because, one I’m West-Indian, and two, I hear it all the time, so I’m adjusted, but before I didn’t love this genre because I didn’t understand what they were saying half the time. I understood Reggae though because it was much slower. Reggae is a genre that people often confuse Soca with. They also confuse Soca with Dancehall music and Calypso. The song I chose for my example is Mr. Fete by Machel Montano. I listen to this song all the time and it was kind of hard to just choose one. It’s a good example for this genre because you get to hear the type of beat and get a good vibe of what Soca is like. You get to hear what they often talk about in this song and it’s a great song because it just makes you want to get up and dance and sing.

beyond frustrated

Honestly I thought that I already had my scholarly gap and knew what I was doing but I don’t. Its frustrating because I know what I am trying to talk about and have my topic planned but it seems to be incorrect every time. I’m honestly over this whole entire project and haven’t been this frustrated in my life. I’m ready to just take an L for this and give up. I mean eventually I will look back and be like OH that was easy but I’m not there right now. I don’t know why I’m just not getting it and why this scholarly gap is wrong. I’m going to have to visit my professor once again during her office hours to get this down because I’m honestly over it. Yet, when I guess I get a clearer understanding of what my scholarly gap… again, I will conduct data by interviewing people. I will ask a series of questions to people that I know about their experiences with beauty and see what kinds of risks and dangers they encountered. I mainly want to find out (learn) about the risks they already knew about and if they would continue with it. I want too mainly learn about their perspectives and knowledge of what they already know. I will lastly just want a better insight on the topic. I will also collect data from articles of course because I believe it is most reliable and informative. Articles will be able to give me facts and statistics about my scholarly gap. I won’t be doing a survey in class because I feel like an interview would be better. Hopefully I get to learn everything I plan on learning for this project and have a better understanding of it. Writing this blog was even frustrating because I get aggravated thinking about it.

Voting

Yes I did register but since I was in the city but didn't know that I had to register by county. Therefore I found out too late that I need another form to vote. I'm not so angry about it because I don't like any of the candidates and I  don't want to take any part in America becoming a more shitty country. No I don't like Trump nor want him to be president but Hillary doesn't have such a charming history either. New York is a democratic State so I'm sure shell pull through but I just couldn't do it.

Scholarly gap(blog9)

My project is basically the dangers or how harmful looking beautiful is. There are a lot of things that we put our bodies, and mind through to look beautiful of even decent, because we want to please society and appeal to other people’s expectations. It’s way easier for a man to be considered “attractive”, then for a woman to. I don’t see men getting plastic surgery left and right or ordering with makeup in the morning or obsessing over an outfit to look good. Now I’m not saying guys walk out on the streets all the time looking crazy but we all can agree that it is easier for them than woman. For my project two, I showed the different kinds of ways in which acrylic nails are harmful to those who wear it, but I’m kind of going to expand on that idea and discuss more dangers of looking “pretty”. We all don’t know that hair chemicals like perm or hair dye are bad for us, but how? We don’t know how bad a waist-trainer affects us or how makeup breaks out your face. We don’t know how damaging weaves/ hair extensions can be on us or even wearing heels. Basically, there are a lot of things in which we need to learn about and be educated on. The research I propose to do is by interviewing my friends that are male and female to get their perspective on things and looking up some more scholarly articles. Does doing these things make you more attractive? I would consider my scholarly gap to be, how did they feel after experiencing this? Did they regret their decision and would do it again? Also by asking if they felt attractive when they got rid of what made them feel beautiful and why or why not? Now I do need to gather more information on my topic and collect more ideas, but those questions are very important to my project 3. I would also like to focus more on the psychological aspect of my research too and how society plays a major in it. I need more example and include more statistics about my topic. I don’t want my audience to think that I am being hypercritical as well so I need to watch what I say and how I say it. This to me is more informative than bashing people who do these things.

This is by far the most craziest yet most known presidential election ever! The closer we get to November 8th, the more scared I am. I admit, I DO NOT WANT TRUMP AS OUR NEXT PRESIDENT! His views and motives on the world are completely disgusting and his supporters are disgusting as well. I cannot stand looking at the guy. He wants to build this wall, get rid of GOOD immigrants, make dangerous war threats with Isis, and etc. The guy even said he was going to JAIL Hilary if he wins.

Sure, Hilary has some flaws too like the emails but at least she calmly answers all the questions in debates and not being rude unlike Trump. We all seen it.

Also, Trump is completely two-faced. His own WIFE is a immigrant! HIS WIFE. And yet, he wants to “make America great again!” Oh really Mr. Trump? This man is homophobic, dislikes female leadership, hates people that are not like him (rich, white, and snobby), a racist….I can go on forever about this guy but for the sake of our perfect unmelted brains I won’t.

At this point, people are scared to vote at all. People who used to support Trump, now moved to Hilary because of his past actions. I won’t blame them. If you really want to make America great, then don’t vote for him. If you really care about our future, then don’t vote for him.

I probably sound like an ass but it’s the truth. We as a nation, will let our voices be heard!

We are all equals! Not some mindless puppets.

I just wanted to be clear that you feel like we should discuss, in class the presidential election in class? If so, then I agree. I was so hyped to be eighteen finally and vote but now I’m just thinking wtf. This is so unfair. I must wait another four years and hopefully get to choose between two candidates that I feel would be perfect to run this country. I’m not even going to bother voting this year. I do want Trump to lose though but if Hilary ends up being horrible, I don’t want to say “yeah I voted for her”. We should do this because I want to know everyone’s stand point in this election.

Blog #7 “Citing Properly” & discussing current events

Honestly speaking I can say that I’m really comfortable in this course even though I’m a little timid sometimes. But one thing that I feel that should be stressed more often even at this level of English is citing and annotating properly. This can be blamed on my lack of knowledge I this particular area but for some odd reason I feel like I haven’t really mastered to citing to the full degree. I know it’s a little embarrassing that I am still having trouble with citing in different formats but this is how I really feel bluntly speaking. As I mentioned earlier that I feel very comfortable and enriched academically with current format, but since we’re putting in our 2 cents I feel that we should discuss current events and what’s going on in the world around us especially in this day and age. With the Middle East in turmoil and the two major world powers basically having small proxy wars though out much of the Middle East I feel that it’s very important and beneficial for us to discuss current events as often as we can because it’s always good to be fully aware of these things. One of the many reasons that’s it’s extremely beneficial to stay informed with current events is the fact that it may even have a impact on yourself and the community around you. For example with the horrible events that have been plaguing Syria and much of the Midd East this has caused a huge pour of immigrants on Many countries, recently reading the Buffalo news I noticed that some of these immigrants fleeing their homeland have finally settled in the Buffalo area. Reading and following current events can even go all the way where it help you understand the community around you and the people living around you. Apart from situations like this, staying up to date with current events and news always interesting and sometimes even necessary to do well in certain courses and general life lol. Just looking at the current presidential election you can see that there is a lot at stake and it’s very important to vote. Reading a lot of the current news can give you a huge boost of information on the candidates running for the presidency of this country! Some of the stories I’ve read worries me and most importantly gives me a huge boost to get out there and vote, mainly because I feel like a lot is at stake and if I don’t vote my life can take a huge change in direction.

I must say that I agree with both topic. I hate citing because I feel like it’s just an extra step in writing a difficult paper and yes whoever we get information from should get credit, but why put information out there if you don’t want others to use it. There are so many formats=and ways you must put it in that are unnecessary. Annoying in high school was also annoying but it did help me out in college so I don’t feel like that’s a big topic to have to touch base on. I do feel like we should talk about current events as well because we should know what’s going on in the world. But we kind of already do talk about current events like Black Lives Matter and what’s going on, but yes, we should continue talking about more current news so it’s a good idea.

I think that this is a good topic because I have a bit of OCD and hate it. It’s so embarrassing and gets in the way of my daily life. I also think that some people can relate to the pressure of having a lot to do in school, at work, and family. So I think we should focus on that more, than being labeled as a perfectionist because people would say oh yeah all of these things stressful and hard to manage than say that they are a perfectionist. I feel like the class will also have more to say about it too. But yes, I must have things set up a specific way and if it isn’t I get anxiety.

The Dakota AccesS Pipeline

This is a huge problem that many people don’t know anything about.  The Dakota Access Pipeline Project and protesters were not covered by the mainstream media until recently, and the public is still very unaware of the situation unfolding.  It is crucial that the pipeline is stopped from being built because it poses way too many risks to not only the Standing Sioux Tribe, but also the thousand of people who rely on the Missouri River for water.

The Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) Project is a 3.8 billion dollar pipeline proposal that will carry crude oil and extend across North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa to areas in Illinois.  The pipeline was designed to transport about 470,000 barrels of oil per day across 1,172 miles.  As of recently the pipeline is already about 60% complete, even though there are over a thousand people fighting against this hazardous project.

The companies in charge of the construction of the DAPL forgot to take into account the reservation it would be passing through.  The Standing Rock Sioux live on this land and wish to keep it clean and safe for their people.  For months now, protest have been held against the pipeline project.  Protests began in April when the Sioux warned that the pipeline would most likely interfere with their culture and could potentially severely damage their water supply (the Missouri River.)  In November 2015, Bernie Sanders spoke out against the pipeline, while Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton still have not said a word about it yet nor have done anything to address the issue… wow, shocker…

On July 27, 2016 the Sioux tribe filed a lawsuit against the United States Army Corps of Engineers, after finalizing their crude oil pipeline permits, for violating multiple laws, one of which includes the National Historic Preservation Act.  The judge did not grant the injunction, but there were a few agencies that halted construction on the land.

Back in September, journalist Amy Goodman was covering the protests taking place when she was arrested by sheriffs for trespassing.  Later, they changed her charges from trespassing to joining in rioting with protesters.

A few weeks ago, actress Shailene Woodley was also arrested for trespassing.  She joined hundreds of other protesters, but was one of the few arrested that day.

More than 80 peaceful protesters were arrested for trespassing just yesterday, October 22, and some were pepper sprayed for what police called “rioting.”

I find this topic to be interesting and I feel like it should be talked about in class. I heard about this issue as well but didn’t have much insight on it. This blog gave me a bigger picture of why they were protesting and how it affects another culture. Especially being that it is the Sioux tribe, because they can never get a break from getting their land taken. This is a serious issue for them. I think we should discuss this issue in class because we don’t discuss they kind of issues that deals with the environment. Great topic!

Problem we facing during election

I have not been into the election this year. I have never really been into politics like my mother but I know that Donald Trump is a very irrational person and at times very offense towards minorities. Hillary Clinton thinks by saying she has hot Sauce in her bag, that she’ll win all of the black votes but that really isn’t the case. We the people need to vote based on problems that we want to fix and which candidate would be best for the job. In this year’s Presidential campaign, I believe the most important issue would of course be racism and police brutality. Even though this is a typical issue that many students might choose, I strongly believe that this is something that is harming us as a nation. No I don’t think that every single person in America would no longer be racist but I feel as though this thought needs to be obliterated and that police brutality needs to be dealt with in a manner that would force improvement. I think this issue is essential to this election because over the past few years more and more people are talking about it, on social media, the news and in newspapers. We have campaigns and protestors like Black Lives Matter, that is now well known, the amount of exposer that police brutality is getting, is now larger than ever. Voters and/or citizens should know that “at least 385 people shot and killed by police nationwide during the first five months of this year, more than two a day, according to a Washington Post analysis” (Kindy, The Washington Post). This accorded in 2015. “According to the Post database, 991 people were fatally shot by the police last year, and 754 have been so far this year” (Lichtblau, New York Times). As you can see, there is a large increase on minorities being killed by the police. Nobody, especially minorities should want a racist president or a president that doesn’t find this an issue, to run our country. I believe that if this problem isn’t solved, then there would be more bloodshed, but not just from us. There has already been riots in places like Baltimore and Chicago and I fear that more riots will happen and this time be more destructive. Since we the citizens of American, have a voice in who will be our new President of the United States, we should do our research to help decide.

I find it so cool how you guys just got up and drove your friend all the way to Chicago. I kind of know how you felt when your friend left because I had a few friends leave Buff state and it really does suck. Even though we all live in Brooklyn it just sucked because I knew I wasn’t going to see them as much and go chill in their room or go to parties together. I would love to road trip on spring break with my friends because it would be so fun and be a great bonding experience. This was such a cute story and hopefully you guys remain in contact.

High School Story

All my life, I’ve been a good person and an even better student. In the beginning of high school, which was 9th grade, I was getting good grades, getting awarded student of the month almost every month and I was truly happy with my performance and most importantly, my parents were proud of me. I started making more friends and with more friends comes more distraction but I was able to control that and still manage to get my good grades. That all went down hill in 11th grade when I started cutting class to play basketball in the gym. Thinking about it now, it was really stupid because I had 2 gym classes but I just wanted to go and play more instead of going to class. I met a girl named Davena who saw what I was doing and warned me several times to stop cutting class. The class I was cutting was a history class which I need to pass the history state test in order to graduate high school. Sometimes I listened to her and went to class but that wasn’t enough. It wasn’t til later that I realized that all my friends I cut class with had passed all their state tests and I had to get my life together and focus on passing. I went to class from then but I guess it wasn’t enough because I failed the test by 1 point. I was told I couldn’t graduate because I didn’t have that 1 point; that was the worst day of my life, knowing that all my friends I started high school with are graduating and I wasn’t. I went home very disappointed because my brother was coming home all the way from upstate New York for my graduation and now I am not graduating. How do I tell my parents that they took off work for nothing because I am not graduating? I went straight to my room and started crying. I went back to school and talked to my principal and she told me that she knows I am a good student, I never got in trouble and I had already been accepted to college so she is going to help me out by sending an appeal because I only failed by 1 point. I had to get my test appealed in order to graduated that day. That taught me a lesson and I made a promise that I will focus and make sure I do what is needed before I do anything else.

I feel like everyone seems to slack off a little bit only if you have enough time to pick yourself back up. But my question for this post is what year did you take your regents and why you couldn’t take it again since we are able to take it three times a year. Also I was kind of surprised to hear that you can get your regent exam appealed because I never heard of that before. You learn something new every day. But lucky you and maybe now you can take away from that and not play around during your college years.

About a month ago I was able to experience something i’ve never done before, frankly because I was too scared to, and it was the best experience of my life.

Over the course of the summer I had worked two jobs so I rarely had free time to just enjoy the weather and be a “normal college student.”

My boyfriend thought it would be a good idea to just have a little get-away to take my mind off of school, work and my upcoming lacrosse season; he was right.

We decided to go to Ellicottvile, NY for a weekend! While we were there we visited ‘Thunder Rock’ which is a huge area full of boulders that people climb up and down.

To me this had to be one of the coolest experiences just to see how the water had carved out enough of these boulders in order for people to rock climb their way to the tops. It’s amazing how nature works.

We also did the sky high adventure park (if you’ve never done it, it’s highly recommended!) which was one of the best workouts I have ever done. Not only does it challenge you and your abilities but it’s also a fun time to do with anyone.

During the course you’re strapped into a harness (so that you can’t fall because you are doing a ropes course in the trees) the course had different variations of difficulties that range from yellow to black (black being the most difficult.) On your harness there’s two sets of clips, one that’s always locked (to the cable) and one that’s not so you’re able to move throughout the course.

To begin my boyfriend and I started out with the two easiest ones and once I felt comfortable enough we decided to try a black level course. So we get about half way through the course and we’re on an obstacle that extends between two trees and is probably about 40 yards long. There’s just two wires that you have to walk across with 5 logs standing straight up that you have to maneuver yourself around in order to get to land.

My boyfriend decided to go first so I followed. I had gotten about ¾ of the way through the obstacle before my clips stopped working and both of them locked up and I was unable to go anywhere. This was definitely one of the scariest things that’s ever happened to me as I was standing about 30 feet above the ground unable to move. Not only was i stuck, but the course that we were on was separate from where all the staff members were so I had to wait about 10 minutes until someone heard our calls for help and got me off the obstacle.

After the worker changed out my clips I didn’t have any further problems. Even with this mishap I still had the time of my life! It may be a pricey place to go, but it’s definitely worth the experience!

This had to be one of the best vacations I have been on in a while, if you’ve never been to Ellicottville then I highly recommend it, it’s a blast where ever you go!

Awe that’s so sweet that your boyfriend took you knowing you were stressed. I too love going on adventures and exploring new things. I have never been rock climbing before unless it was like the little ones at carnivals. If I were you I probably would have been freaking tf out about being stuck up there and my clips being stuck and not being able to move. I also would have been even more scared if no worker was around but good thing someone was with you. I definitely would look into Ellicottville because I think it would be good to just go with friends.

The vacation I will never forget

Ever since I can remember around the first week in July, my family and I would get up at six o’clock and hit the road. The ride would feel like a week, but it only lasted about six hours. My siblings and I would fight the whole way there. But once we got there, and I could smell the salt water, I would get so excited just to be by the ocean. All the fighting would stop.

I hated when my mom had to check us in for the campsite. Waiting in the hot car would feel like an oven, the sun was beating down on us. Once we got checked in, we would drive around until we could find our site. The first thing I always did was go to seek out the sand and put my feet in it. It would always burn at first, but after a few seconds, I got used to it after a couple of seconds. Before I could go and see the ocean for the first time, I would have to set up, which was the worst part of camping. I remember my mom saying,   “The faster you get done, the faster you can go and swim.” Once the set up was done, I would bolt and get changed.

One memory I have is walking from the campsite past the showers, where there was always around line, the bathrooms as little kids running around to find crabs, to find the hill to take me to the beach. I would go up farther, and finally there, I would begin to see the blue water with that view. I would take a minute and just take it all in. I loved that feeling. My twin brother and I would always race to find the perfect spot to put down the towels, and then we would jump in the ocean for the first time. The water would shock me like ice, but I would get over it. Then we would swim. My brothers, sister and I are like fish. We would never wanted to get out of the water or even leave. But my mom would make us so we could go and eat dinner. It was after dinner when my family and I would sit around the fire and hang out.

The best part of going to the beach in Maryland was the last night. It was the night we would go to Ocean City to the boardwalk. We could see Ocean City from the campsite. I would always look forward to going there. We would play games and go on rides on the boardwalk. The first ride I went on was the slingshot. I was so scared, but I went on the ride with my sister so I felt safer. It was always a good time.

When we got back to the camp site after the long night, we would sit around the campsite. Then we would go around the circle and say what the best and worst part of our vacation was. One memory around the circle was my brother Mat (yes that’s how you spell it) saying that his best part of vacation was going crab hunting the night before. My all-time favorite memory was just being there, as a family, and getting closer in that week.

I really liked your story of camping and going to the beach with your family. I love doing that too. The only thing that maybe be different between us is that I love the long car rides. So much, especially singing with my family the latest songs or just talking about what’s going on. This reminds me of when I would go to Atlantic City with my Mom, brother, and sometimes cousins because it takes a while to go there, we go to the boardwalk all the time and go on rides. Plus, there is a beach that we never want to leave. So your story reminds me of some of my best memories so I think that’s cool.

Being Shy

Okay so if you haven’t noticed, I am a very shy person that keeps to myself unless I get to know you and warm up. I cringe at the word teachers and Professors like to use so often, “presentation”. If you come up to me and be nice, I am going to act the same way and not like a bitch unless I don’t like you. I have always been this way. Coming to college definitely helped me with that, especially not coming with any friends here. The people I “knew” were kids from middle school and friends of a friend. No real relationship. I was open to new people and made great connections with them. I’m not gonna lie, it was hard at first, so I was happy to start classes freshman year. I knew that the first people I met weren’t gonna last cuz it never does but then I began to meet really good people I call my friends today. My roommates were awesome and we still talk. It was great because we were chosen at random and meshed so well. Even though we all bonded and got along I was closer to one of them more than the other and we always went to places and parties together. The beginning of Sophomore year was cool I guess. I’m still meeting people and getting into classes. Even though we are still in the first month, it’s going good so far. I’m trying to join more clubs and be more involved on campus. I want to branch out more and meet more people. It’s also kind of annoying that a lot of people left last year. A lot of my friends stayed in the city so now I kind of have to do the whole process over. Don’t get me wrong a lot stayed but a few I was extremely close to like my old roommate did. This did give me a chance to get closer with my suite mates that I lived on the same floor with last year, and to meet my roommate Kia. We are almost the same person and we first became acquaintances when I took the Amtrak for the first time and started talking. I didn’t see her again till like the end of the year when I wrote on the buff state page that I needed a roommate and she responded. All of went to a party and she came out with us. Now we are so close and its great. I like how this year is starting up and hopefully I can open my shell more.

Project 1

           I believe that I have a great understanding of Multimodal composing and analysis. Multimodal composing is, “texts that are drawn in multiple modes of conveying information’’. This includes words images, sound, numbers, graphics, animations and many more. Multi-modal analyzing consist of genre, features, purpose and audience, and meaning. When analyzing words, sound, images, moving images and others, its best to define them. For example, in genre, you are trying to find out what kind of text it is being used. For features, you are looking for details of the text. For example, if you are using images, you want to describe the colors of it, is it taken from far away or close-up, what’s in the background? For purpose and audience, you want to find the purpose for your text and if there any more modes of communication. You also want to find out who your intended audience is whether it is students, women, men, children, etc. Lastly meaning is how your features, genre, purpose and audience tie together to deliver your message.                      

           From the start, I didn’t like this project, I kind of still don’t. I don’t really know why we have to use only pictures for this project, meaning that, I feel like we should have the option to choose between the type of multi-modal text that we want to use. I also find it frustrating because I don’t have a topic and the instructions are a bit confusing to me.

           What I think is significant to me as I work on project one is finding images that correlate with one another and makes sense. I’m having trouble with coming up with an idea for my project and what kind of images I want to use. My project has to be an important issue that people can learn more about. I don’t want anyone to be confused or feel like my project is dismissive. As I analyze the text I think what is significant is making it easy for people to find the meaning of it. I am considering making my project about the infamous Calios. It’s a fast food restaurant. I have some issues with them that I would like to discuss. I am probably going to need to give them a photo release form which I am nervous about because I don’t like asking people I don’t know for things. Hopefully I do well on this project because I need an A.

Burn Mark

I honestly don’t know what to talk about. I’m a pretty simple person that has never had a crazy addiction or ran away from home and have crazy stories to discuss all the time. I guess I can talk about the huge mark on my hand that people always ask about. So basically when I was in the 1st grade I believe, I was hungry asf. My mom was at work so my older sister Marley had to watch me and my brother. My two cousins were also over my house and they are all Marley’s age. I told my sister that I was hungry and would like some soup. Cup of noodles that is. Being the big sister that she is. she goes and makes it for me. Now she finished putting the water inside of it and it’s in the microwave. I hear the microwave three beeps to indicate that that the soup is done so I yell for her. “Marley the soup is done!” “I know let it cool!” she replied “But it’s done and I’m hungry!” “Ok but it’s hot so let it cool!” I of course, being the stubborn spoiled one, didn’t listen. I went for it. I opened the microwave and stuck my hand out to grab it. I didn’t remember that the soup had water in it all the way to the top, so when I squeezed the cup all the juice spilled out and onto my right hand. I screamed at the top of my lungs and had everyone run in. My skin was boiling and turning pink. My sister was so scared and asked me what happened. I told her as I cried my eyes out. That shit burned so bad. My cousin went down stairs and gave an ice pack. My sister was crying because she was thinking my hand was going to be ugly forever. She called my mother and told her ever thing that went on. When my mom got home she wasn’t mad. she was nonchalant about it. She told me to show her my hand and she babied me about it. which was nice of course. She then told me that I was going to have to pop it. I looked at my hand and there was a huge bubble on it where the burn mark is. I said no because I was scared it was going to hurt. She sat me down and told me it wouldn’t. Being the huge punk I am of needles I refused. She kept telling me it wouldn’t hurt and told me to look away. She grabbed my arm and moved in front of my face so I couldn’t see what was going on. She took the needle, popped it and I quickly looked at it. It didn’t hurt which made me cheese. There was a lot of water coming out. I never went to the doctor for it because my mom is west Indian and they always know what to do and a remedy to use. She did give me a cast to put on my hand so I can go play without it getting infected or anything. A few days later I went to my mother’s job and tried to show one of her co-worker’s children my mark. But I couldn’t get the cast off. It was stuck to my hand, the burn mark. I ran to my mother to show her and she was surprised. She had to literally rip it off my skin which hurt so bad. It hurt as bad as it sounds. I was ok after the pain. From then on I get, “what happened to your hand”, “what is that”, “Is that a birthmark”, “ew what’s on your hand”. Over a course of time the mark did get better but you can still see it of course. I love it now. I think it’s so cool and different. My brother pissed me off because he said maybe I should get a tattoo over it and I’m like never, are you nuts?   Now at 18 years old I can say that I love this mark and its awesome. I still do eat cup of noodles soup, even though you wouldn’t think so.
