my dilemma rn
Hello! Hope youre having a great day! I absolutely love how you draw clothing and how varied the layers and folds are, where do you usually take refs from? I havent found any good resources to reference from sadly, was wondering if you good help. Cheers!
there are like... two basic things to always keep in mind. or at least i keep them in mind...
cheat trick: draw the seams! its basically contour for your clothes. it gives more structure and detail by default. you can do like a simple line, or do like a striped line. or you go the extra mile to do a pattern stich.
Triangles Rule! clothes have a this habit of falling in triangles. like there is a Fix-point that holds the cloth and then it spreads out, usual in a triangular structure. depending how tight it is pulled the triangles get tighter, or wider when the garment is just draped draping over the body. how much into detail you want to do depends on each artist.
fix-points wher most the fold and details happens is usualy where we have our joints. elbow, knees, armpit ect.
my references are more for inspiration as to what the characters are wearing rather then how to draw the fold. though... i struggle lots with hoods but in that case i just google "hoods" and tada! dozen and dozen of references. thick hoods slim hoods. pulled up pulled down.
about layering clothing... i do in fact just... layer them? like i have my thumbs of course where its all like mixed toghether in one. but if i feel like it i take the time to go through each layer and to figure out how the clothing interact. or like... i can like this see the clothes underneath more clearly in case i need them? ha i make my own dress up dolls somehow hahah hm...
which is fun to me. because lets say it it suddenly hot or getting cold the character has some variation? uhm... i have more doodeled out. this are just few i have finished and... urgh one day i will continue figuring these guys out... anyway this was a lot. uhm... thanks for reading this far? hope this helped

I probably just haven't come across it yet, but I cannot wait to read a fic that captures how weird Bokuto and Akaashi are together.
Not weird as in their ship doesn't work. Weird as in: reading their scenes in the manga was like watching aliens from two different planets bond over how hard it is navigating Earth. Like Akaashi referring to Bokuto as a star and no one else is even thinking that yet.
Or THIS FUCKING PAGE:
These weirdos are so strange and so perfect together.
seriously i wish people understood that queerbaiting has almost nothing to do with the actual content of a story. two men can gaze soulfully into each other’s eyes for 45 minutes straight and then at the end be like “oh yes my good pal friend no homo” and its still not anything more than homoerotic and kind of stupid writing.
queerbaiting is a marketing technique to get gay people to buy a ticket. it’s hemming and hawing whenever someone asks about subtext, giving long answers that don’t mean anything to sort of imply “maybe you just need to wait and find out. ;)” it’s interviews where the actors talk about how much they love that particular relationship, and they think they will ~surprise~ you with how it turns out. it’s every single trailer showing these two people almost kissing, even as the creators talk about how offended they are that anyone would think it’s gay. it’s disney’s 65th First Gay Character that they sort of imply might actually be a main character this time but is yet another nameless asshole. it’s evil, because it’s completely deliberately misrepresenting the actual media just to make a buck.
Acceptable use of 'Boys will be boys'.
Years ago, when Tumblr was still owned by Yahoo, Yahoo wanted Tumblr to use their video player, rather than Tumblr's own video player. This was partially to unify analytics, but mostly because Yahoo planned to put pre-roll ads on Tumblr videos. You know those unskippable Youtube ads? That's what was going to happen to Tumblr videos.
The only reason it didn't happen out is because Tumblr staff pushed back on the idea, saying it was absolutely idiotic and would anger users beyond their breaking point.
The next time you're angry at staff for fucking up something a lil bit, or trying to make money in some optional way, keep this in mind.
In my experience, Tumblr staff cares more about their users than the staff of any other social media website. Most staff members are longtime users themselves and care deeply about the culture of this platform. I understand it's become kind of a funny meme to get mad at and tear down tumblr staff, but I would warn against taking them for granted, we all know how much worse it can be. Absolutely call them out on terrible/harmful decisions when warranted, but know that they do care, and they are trying, and maybe it's ok to appreciate that just a little bit, every once in a while.

tomorrow the russian government is gonna add a few new laws in the criminal code:
1) if you’re posting a fake (fake is literally anything that doesn’t say the offical state information) - it’s a crime = you can go to jail
2) if you’re vocally against the war - it’s a crime = you can go to jail
3) if you’re saying the sanctions are good/are justified - it’s a crime = you can go to jail.
today, some of our opposition media sources were blocked for spreading information that was different from the official media.
today facebook and twitter were blocked in russia, god knows what will happen in the morning. maybe they’ll cut the internet for all I know.
please, spread the word. if some of your russian friends фку suddenly disappear from the social media - our government is doing everything for us to rely only on the lies they’re spreading.
i’m not even a gigantic mitski fan but ppl treat her so terribly literally just saw a video of her performing and she’s in the ground during a quiet part of the song like doing performance art and the dumb ass crowd (or atleast a good chunk of the people there) are saying shit like “not mitski dying🤪” “mitski GET up this ISNT YOU!” “mommy wake up 🥺” over and over and it’s just so. disgusting and weird like i hate that she got turned into a “meme” celebrity especially bc of her newest album being about how she hates feeling burnt out by the media / her fans / being turned into some kind of character rather than a regular person im not even touching the cell phone incident thing bc that’s a whole convo of its own but i feel like a lot of you just don’t know how to interact with others and also have trouble with immediately getting parasocial with every public figure u see
Why did this call me out so bad?
If you know someone who speaks dismissively of people working service or retail jobs, please remind them that they are bad.
