Reylo AU Bingo - Y1 - Historical
I had tried to write a little story around this idea of a sweet and simple mid-1930s wedding, but I am emotionally and mentally drained, so I decided to finally just post it. I hope you like it!

Part 20 of Scene VI ‘Poe’
Paterson #3 (written on water)
Adam Driver as Paterson, slumped at his desk in his writing space, a lost expression on his unshaven face, brow faintly furrowed, eyes wide and unseeing, jaw set loosely, mouth almost pouting as he quietly grieves the loss of his poems.
They were just words, written on water, but they meant so very much to him. They were bits of his soul, traced with thought and care in ink on the pages. Sharing something like that is difficult even for those who are confident in their creations, and he just wasn’t ready yet. And now they’re gone.
I love the scene by the falls with the Japanese poet, who so gently leads Paterson to realize that just because the page is empty, just because his earlier works were lost, that there wasn’t more poetry waiting to but written. That he’s living an artistic life, whether he realizes it or not. That, just like so many of the writers and artists Paterson admires, he can be more than one thing. He can be a bus driver. AND a poet, too.
AHA.
Photo used for reference was a promotional still for “Paterson.
About 10 hours of drawing time.
Jesus christ, i would let this man drown me oml
I’ve combined my two passions - Kylo Ren and Depeche Mode, or rather Martin Gore’s eccentric fashion style. I had this idea for ages now, first I planned drawing it with completely different character years ago, but only Adam makes me draw weird shit. Sorry, Adam, it’s your fault.
day 2 - secret
CW // pregnancy
“Ben!” Rey gasps, slipping through the front door. “Ben!”
“Cyar'ika?” He comes barreling into the foyer, hair dripping, and a towel around his waist. “Are you alright? What’s wrong?”
She’s completely forgotten what she came back to tell her husband because water droplets are gliding over his prominent pecs and down the ladder of abs just below. Her eyes follow to the defined valleys carved out along his hips that disappear beneath the rolled towel and form a V right at his-
“Rey?” he asks again, though, he’s not ignorant to her unabashed gaze.
“What time is the Jedi Ceremony tonight?”
“Seven,” Ben replies as she slinks toward him, a hunter stalking its prey, and reaches for his towel.
He stops her by grabbing her wrist and Rey looks up at him, wide-eyed. He takes a massive step toward her, wraps one arm around her thigh from behind and lifts her into the air as he continues toward their bedroom.
“Ben!” she squeals, wrapping her legs around his waist.
Her motions are in vain, however, when he throws her onto the bed as soon as they’re in the room. Her eyes are focused on the dark trail of hair that starts at his belly button and disappears beneath the waistband of his towel.
“I told you: the next time I have you, you’ll be wearing this.” Ben stands over her, reaches for her left hand. Rey gives it willingly and he slides his Nana Padme’s wedding ring onto her finger.
She looks up at him in time to see him remove his own band from the box they keep hidden in her top drawer.
“I wish we could wear them tonight,” she says as he leans down to kiss her, his left hand cupping her face, the tungsten cool against her cheek.
“I know, Cyar’ika, I do, too.” He kisses her again. “Soon.”
“Promise?”
Ben lifts a hand to her stomach and sighs. “They’re going to figure it out for themselves soon enough. We should beat them to it.”
Ben trying to get rid of his shirt before the Force bond opens up: “Stay cool, Kylo, stay cool. You don’t want to make her think you were anticipating…”
Adam Driver & Keri Russel in the promotional material for the 2019 Broadway revival of BURN THIS
I fell in love with this.
I was convinced I had already posted more Reylo stuff in here…oh well🤷🏻♀️
Since Rey never got to touch his fluffy mane, I bring you relaxing hair-touching through the Force!
Yes the Force works that way, yes their Force Bond was made specifically for this purpose, yes this is very, very canon lol 😗
Adam Driver #111 (NYC, 27 Oct 2022)
Adam, shiny waves neatly finger combed away from his face, glasses perched on his nose, crow’s feet gently crinkled in the corners of smiling eyes, the corners of his mouth pulled out and down by the small smile pulling at his lips, the deep valleys of his dimples bracketing his chin, the unbuttoned collar of his shirt framing the column of his neck. In which I imagine what Adam might look like if we ever caught him in those reading glasses. Back from his long sojourn in Reggio-Emilia, Adam’s making the most of his limited time in NYC between projects, participating in a Deadline Contenders panel for “White Noise” , hosting the annual AITAF Broadway event, and, continuing his Patron of the Arts era, he was spotted visiting backstage at Broadway plays not once, but twice. The first, and the one that this reference came from, was an especially sweet thing to see, since he was at “The Piano Lesson,” starring none other than his “BlacKkKlansman” bestie, John David Washington, whose kilowatt smiles at Adam could’ve powered an entire marquee. I just love knowing that he goes to see his friend’s plays, and that they go to see his! He’s in his casually dressed up uniform of a black blazer over a black buttoned-down collared shirt, the first couple of buttons popped open, of course. I found it amusing to notice that Adam wore this exact same shirt to the AITAF Broadway event on 7 Nov– the buttons and the creases by the collar are very distinctive– though I do think it was a different blazer. Our frugal, capsule wardrobe king. The other thing he’s wearing, aside from the glasses we all made such a fuss about, is this small, sweet, almost star-struck smile; he’s wedged between John David and Samuel L Jackson, and I have to think that was a bit of A Moment, even for Adam, who’s found himself rubbing elbows with a lot of Hollywood royalty lately. His expression reminds me a bit of the slightly stunned look I’ve seen on a lot of Rat’s faces when they get a chance to have a photo with him, while still being so very characteristically Adam; where many of us would be grinning like loons, he maintains that midwestern polite aloofness that downplays just how happy he is, but the crinkles and the dimples give away the depth of his delight.
Proof of ongoing bromance aside, what made the Driver Hive swoon the hardest was an afterthought on Adam’s part; he’d tucked what looks like a pair of reading glasses into the V of his shirt collar. He wasn’t even wearing them on his face, but this was the first time we’d ever seen him with glasses on his person (as himself and not in character) AT ALL; a flurry of photomanips shortly followed, someone was pleased to learn they wore the same frames as he does (Boon, by Garrett Leight, in black, in case you were wondering), and then the inevitable speculation as to the prescription of said glasses. I’m betting, based on the fact that the only time I’ve seen evidence of him in contacts was when he was wearing the ones tinted blue for Maurizio, just how far away he tends to hold text he’s reading (seriously, watch him read “This Is To Say” in “Paterson,” the man had it at arm’s length and he was only 32), and the fact that he earned an expert marksman rating while in the military, that he’s a little bit far-sighted, and that being almost 39 means that he just can’t read that tiny type in the Broadway playbills anymore without a little help. Photo used for reference was taken backstage after a performance of “The Piano Lesson” on Broadway in NYC by an unknown photographer on 27 Oct 2022, and was edited by me. The original showed Adam’s glasses tucked into his shirt collar, surrounded by John David Washington on his right and Samuel L. muthafuckin’ Jackson on his left; I cropped the photo closer and actually used PS as it was intended to be used, lol, to put those glasses onto his face instead, which gave me the reference I needed to be able to paint them with a believable amount of detail. The only thing I fret about is that I don’t really know where he sits them on the bridge of his nose, so I just kind of guessed. About 23 hrs of painting time. Glasses are complicated, and the overlay I was using made getting the fine shading on his dark clothes difficult.
