Thoughts on B.I's departure from iKON
Since WIN and Mix&Match, B.I has been juggling with multiple roles as the team leader, choreographer and composer. Because of this, I admire his passion for music, his leadership and his work ethic. iKON's cohesion and ability to shine is a product of B.I's guidance and ultimately, his sacrifice.
For just a moment, I want to shed light on the burdens and hardships that he had to endure alone as a leader. At the end of the day, B.I is just a human being like all of us and no matter how hard we strive for perfection, no one is perfect. In such highly stressful and suffocating times, one would desperately just want some sort of escape. An outlet. A break from the thoughts and demands of the world.
Although our leader is flawed, he still strived to become the best leader that he could be. Entering the entertainment industry at such a young age, he sacrificed his youth to strive for his passion. Whether this meant countless late nights composing songs for his team; revising rehearsals over and over again until every member has perfected their choreography; or speaking for the whole team during interviews and music award shows. B.I's strong ambition for iKON to succeed and his meticulous nature in itself makes him so admirable as a leader and team member.
Don't forget that this is the man who made history by creating Love Scenario, the revolution of a children's national anthem. This was the same man that wrote and composed I'm OK, Killing Me, Climax and numerous other sentimental songs. He painted emotions and the inner human condition with his lyrics and melody. These songs move, inspire and connect with many people in the youth community.
As someone who has been there and supported them since the early beginning of iKON, it's going to be hard. For now, I'm going to embrace the last memories I have of them as 7 members.
This is the end of a hero, the powerhouse of iKON. With his departure, it's a major loss to YG Ent, to iKON and to all of us, iKONics.
