What she does is take photos for different products and this just appeared in my Google search for "Pastel photography" but it caught my eye (not only because it was the first picture I saw after blindly scrolling) through its effective use of levels; especially by using some colors cassettes to not only add a couple more hues for a little more variety but to make the short bottle fully visible and allowing a short round one to lean again it to add a fourth level instead of just 3.

So one thing lead to another and I found myself looking at pictures of jellyfish. I’m astounded by jellyfish movement they flow smoother than melted butter and people know not to come in between me and butter.

Movement can be captured through poses, they’re in the middle of an action and you’re like “Oh wow, they’re ____________” so you know they’re moving in some way. It doesn’t necessarily have to be boring, just look at this jellyfish! Are you really gonna tell e this jellyfish is boring? I think not

My favorite part of the wedding day is the reception. After the traditional first dances, and speeches are done, and the wedding party starts to let loose. The party is in full swing and the best man is giving “The Dougie” his best attempt in an effort to win a dance battle against the bride. While capturing these images I want the viewer to feel like they were in there, in the moment. My goal is to not light up the entire room like a Christmas tree. I want to see the light from the DJ and the motion on the dance floor. This is how I do just that.

There are 2 ways of getting light into your photo, the first using ambient lighting that’s affected by your camera settings like shutter speed, aperture, ISO (refer to my other article for more on what that means) and the second being with the flash. These specific effects combine both of them so that you get streaks of light in the background that can pretty much be summed up as elongated blurs while targeting one specific subject.

You can use lights around you to create great blurred effects, but you have to be careful when doing this so your camera isn’t overexposed and you and up with light blob. You can get rid of ambient light by having a higher ISO and start out with about 1/10 shutter speed and change it to be faster or slower depending on how long you want your streaks of light to be. then while you’re taking your picture, swing or rotate your camera hecka fast to get that streak.

After you’ve controlled your ambient light, you’ll want to use the flash to actually see your subject more clearly. However, the flash will add ambient light back into the whole image so you can combat this by making the zoom on your camera closer than the distance between you and the subject. This will create somewhat of a “spotlight” effect on your subject

Now we’re smooshing 2 techniques together so that we can hone in on 1 subject but adding that cool light streak in the background to add interest. However, with longer shutter speeds, the flash can’t stay on for that long so we gotta tell the camera when to flash. there are 2 ways to do it, front or rear curtain sync, but from what l read, front curtain is better for this one. You can read about the differences in the article but basically, it captures the exact moment you want faster instead of there being a slight delay.

Swing the camera in the opposite direction that you want the light to be. l can’t really explain it without sounding bad because l’m really directionally challenged but you can also look on their article for that one but it boils down to shake and hope for the best.

For additional tips, look at the bottom of the article for photo references on what different effects do, but gheez is this one complicated, and l probably would never do it but it’s for the project so.. yeah :)

I love this photo and I'm also really proud of it (especially because I took it by accident) but it just felt so fitting and so perfect for this project because he hair is flowing outwards as she was stepping out of the strange doorless locker and with that smile and oh man is it just a good photo. Believe it or not this was actually a candid so it could just be written off as a pose instead of a shot of movement but I know that's not true and that's

Although I now work in the commercial world, my passion started with documentary photography. I was, and still am, obsessed with Annie Leibowitz’s work with the Rolling Stones and I loved William Egglestone’s color observations of the mundane world he found himself in. When I find a free day, there is nothing that I enjoy more than walking out with my camera to document someone else's life. However, unlike the plethora of studio lighting tutorials available, there seems to be a real lack of articles on documentary photography. Here are six tips on how to improve your images.

Documentaries are great because they’re a great way to learn about things you didn’t know you wanted to learn about.

In each of those documentaries, you probably see a bunch of pictures relating to whatever the topic is, and just like how anime has a certain sound to it, these kinds of photos have a certain look to it. Documentary photography is its own genre of photography and to do it well, there are 6 (ish) tips you can abide by.

Get up close and personal to your subject. This allows the viewer to see the topic from a different point of view.

Use wide lenses, anywhere before 50mm should be good. This allows context and impact to be added to your shots.

Speaking of point of view, change them up! There are millions of photos being added to the interwebs every day. If you want yours to stand out, you gotta think outside a box a bit to grab viewer’s attention

If you have a bunch of images you’re putting in succession of each other, make sure they’re relatively consistent. Distance, color, whatever else l dunno, the article only talked about distance and color but make sure there are no continuity errors between them because that’ll create a disconnect from the pictures and the viewer.

The way your photos are composed can really change the entire image. Elevating your subject from good to great can make a huge difference when trying to make valid and important points about whatever subject you’re photographing. However, being fabulous comes at a price of difficulty so keep practicing and be patient

I’m always a fan of pretty lights, which include the natural lighting of astronomical objects.

The technique used here is really elaborate and complicated something about hecka slow shutter speeds and also takes a really long time- because let’s be real stars aren’t just nyooming across the lens now- so this kind of photo is something l could never do myself, however it looks absolutely beautiful and inspires me to take some more photos with motion blur because it’s examples like these when it’s shown that blurs can be used to your advantage.

I love getting that blurred background where a bike or a person running past is in focus and you literally see the motion in a still image. Mango Street made a video to show how to do it with some great tips I had never even thought of. Keeping the subject at the same distance as it passes by sounds more difficult than it is. Cars, bikers, and people crossing the street are all you need, and the shutter won't be open for too long, so it's long enough to remain the constant distance you need. They recommend closing the aperture to f16 and setting your shutter speed to a 1/30th of a second.

In my last article related post, l covered the fundamentals of what aperture and shutter speed are and how they can be used to create a sense of movement in a photo. This time, we’re honing in on one specific technique to achieve motion in a different way.

First thing’s first make sure your camera is in the right settings. Put the aperture to f16 and the shutter speed between 1/30 to 1/60, you can use trial and error as well as personal preference to get the exact look you’re going for.

Find a location that has subjects constantly going forward such as a busy street, a sporting event or even just having your friend run back and forth on the sidewalk but regardless of what you chose, the best results will come from subjects that are parallel to your camera lens which may require you to get low or high depending on where your subject is.

When you decide on a subject, follow it with your lens (while keeping your feet planted, just turn your body) and take a few pictures, now remember to act fast and take shots. Many of them will be bad but a few of them will turn out not as bad and that’s to be expected. don’t be discouraged because it boils down to practice, practice, practice. something you will have to get the hang of but is really important is that you pan your camera at the same speed your subject is moving.

I took this picture of my friend playing the piano (then made it black and white for the ~aesthetic~) because what I've noticed is that this type of movement is a little different.

Since some of they keys are pressed down, the viewer already knows that notes are being played, and it gives a sense of imagery in their head as they imagine the sounds and fill in the rest of the picture of what the subject is playing.

Of course, none of those thoughts can be answered through a single image but that kind of thinking that stems from one image is great!

Anyone can learn the fundamentals of how a camera works. As you master shutter speed, you should find yourself more equipped to unleash your creativity.

This is the first article l read for my second Digital Scrapbook and it’s really helpful in capturing more of that movement in different ways.

We start out by talking about exposure which is how much light enters the camera and how we can change the exposure is through 2 different ways; aperture and shutter speed.

Aperture changes the size of an opening within the lens that allows light to come through that can be made bigger or smaller. The smaller the opening means that less light will come through causing the image to appear darker and vice versa for larger openings.

Shutter speed focuses more on how long that amount of light will pass through the lens. Shutter speeds are measured in fractions for example, 1/500 captures one five-hundredth of a second; the higher the number, the faster the speed. Faster shutter speeds will result in your photo having almost no blur in the shot because it captures the subject so fast it doesn’t move very far in that small of a timeframe. However, faster shutter speeds come out much darker so it’s good to have a wider aperture to increase the exposure.

Heelo and welcome to the second part of my Digital Scrapbook adventure! Now that I’ve done this one there are more constraints, meaning there’s a t h e m e. We’re looking at motion and how that can be depicted through different iterations.

We’re starting out pretty simple with this one, by having a rather slow shutter speed to show the blurs of the speedy bois to show that they are indeed moving.

The main reason l chose to go to the gym was that this is the more typical and basic form of showing movement by taking photos of subjects moving at a fast pace because not only do their poses and setting show what they’re doing but that can also be inferred by the blurs in the shot.

Also l just thought it was funny seeing Alex look like a running chicken :)

Here’s the million dollar question: How does this photo r e l a t e to the article?

I know, it’s a loaded question. Heck, it’s a loaded word, that one — good. According to whom? By what measure? Who do you think you are to criticize my work? I know. And, I agree. But I suspect there are still a few checks we can make to see if an image is headed in the right direction. Let’s look at five of them!

There are a lot that goes into a single photo to make it good: technique, composition, subject, story and integration. All 5 of these aren’t needed in every single photo to make it good, however if used effectively, can elevate a photo from good to great. Each of these 5 “things” have different effects on the final product, and it may be dependent on the setting, conditions etc. to determine which and how many of them you’d want to use in your photo. The article takes 2 photos and apply each of the 5 “things” to them, by doing this, the writer differentiates that separations in what makes a “good” and “great” photo.

Why these are important to use is because our brains have developed to filter out 99.999% of what we see on a day to day basis unless it’s extremely interesting, amazingly beautiful, highly unusual or about to kill us. Therefore, utilizing these 5 “things” to your advantage can help you achieve being that 0.001% of things your brain will remember that day.

This is tribute to the Untitled Goose Game that released recently, I'm kind of out of cares to put in effort, the second photo uses line with the green strip on the floor, the poses are well photographed, nice use of background with the fallen leaves and great use of values with shadows and lighting. 10/10 would hönk again

This picture is rebloged from Nhi’s account. My first impressions was that l was reminded of the framing composition terminology we talked about in class today. I would wonder what inspired the photographer to take such a deceivingly simple, yet well composed picture. As the title implies, it’s just their backyard window, but what made them stop and want to take a picture of it that day, assuming that they’ve passed by it many times before.

There’s a gradient of values with the lighter part being in the top left right corner, gradually getting darker to the bottom right left corner. There’s also a great balance using both natural and geometric shape. Finally, There’s a great accent color with the metallic handles right in the middle of the picture.

Maybe l’m looking into this too much, and the photographer simply took this photo for the same reasons l would probably take this, which is to do a photography project relating to elements and principals. This picture checks a lot of boxes when including elements like lines, shape value etc. and include principals such as balance. (like using symmetry) I may just be thinking like this because l’m in a school setting, writing this for another project, but the interpretation of simplicity for the sake of analysis still remains valid.

My final thoughts is that this picture includes a lot of complexity through its simplicity, utilizing the elements and principals so well, maybe without even realizing it. I feel as though this would make a good example pgoto for an art teacher to whip out during class to try and teach their sad extremely enthusiastic who really want to be there students about the fundamentals of elements and principals of art. Overall, 13/10 photo, well composed, i enjoy very much. Have a nice day!

I chose to reblog these photos of sunset, as a reminder of some good that exists on this earth. It can be so easy to get caught up in your thoughts of how horrible the world can be with problems like climate change, or insane beauty standards with crazy stupid expectations from everyone around us, and it can leave us wondering what the point of staying here is. But then you’ll hop on tumblr for no good reason and see the beauty of natures, and all the colors it can intale, or how the sun we have can go overlooked. (Because who stares at the sun) However, the sun remaining so bright daily, creates emphasis by cutting through the sky, even from miles away.
