Had this theory that Atlas was supposed to kill Mordecai on the train that day. I believe when Mordecai stole that money he robbed from Atlas.

In the flashback of them on the train, when serafine said, "Like he been watching all de time, cause he was," was her stating he knew of Mordecai robbing him.

What Atlas probably didn't expect was some kid in rags for clothing in knee-high pants who stole from him.

Besides offing Mordecai he left the gun behind.

The other men probably knew Atlas and probably worked for him, too.

Mordecai probably did kill them with Atlas's gun.

I don't take Atlas as this sweet, kind, caring boss if you didn't matter to him. Well, you where disposable. Seeing as Mordecai being smart to fool Atlas for so long, robbed him a good sum of money and being able to kill. Atlas took Mordecai in because he was very useful.

Mordecai and Atlas would have this messed up father/son bond.

Mordecai really looked up to Atlas I can see him mirroring him.

Doing anything for Atlas.

I don't think Mordecai knows what Atlas had planned that day on the train.

I don't think Mordecai knows he was mainly a weapon at Atlas disposal.

Wanting to be wanted and useful at everything for Atlas. That faded out over time as Atlas found Mitzi and was much closer with her than him. That made Mordecai bitter and sour about Atlas's and Mitzi's marriage. Always fighting for Atlas's attention.

I have a feeling when Serafine brought up his past like that, not did it scare Mordecai. You can see the guilt on his face.

Like Mordecai truly cared for Atlas, the thing is, did Atlas ever truly care for Mordecai, and would he have gone on a man hunt if Mordecai was killed? I think that's the saddest thing to think of because, more likely not. Mordecai is losing everything and risking it all for a dead man who wouldn't have done the same thing for him.

I'm sure there will be more things about their relationship in the comic as it continues.

Just every time someone brings up Mordecai's past with Atlas and Viktor, you can see him look away. That pain of guilt laying heavily inside his heart.

That would explain how, despite Mordecai leaving New York in a big hurry, Atlas was sitting there on the train with the revolver waiting for him

Even if he had an eye on Mordecai for a while, how would he have known to be there faster than the hit men hunting him down?

Unless he was there for the same reason as the other two but then at the last minute decides this desperate, but number savvy and sharp shooting young man, could be more useful to him alive than dead

What better way to secure his loyalty than to play the hero and fatherly patron who saved him?

Makes the fact Mordecai is now on what is effectively a self-destructive suicide mission, cut ties with Lackadaisy and the closest thing he ever had to a real friend in Viktor (maybe meant even more than that), for a man who saw him as nothing but a tool he picked up on a whim

Mordecai over analyzes a lot of things.

I think that's his biggest downfall, I think the last comic panel speaks for that. He's coming to realize the truth behind a lot of things he thought he knew.

It is probably hard for Mordecai to take in as he always assumed that Atlas was always honest with him. He tells Gracie he was very close to Atlas.

This "private affair" Mordecai thought implies that Atlas didn't tell him everything. The details about this affair were kept away from Mordecai's knowledge.

I assume the affair Mordecai is talking about is between Atlas and someone other than Asa.

This led me to another theory that it was a setup. Someone much bigger than mordecai. Mordecai realized the whole time he was riding the evidence. This would put mordecai in the crossroads for something he's not prepared for.

Agent Dom has Asa's business card, the letters GG stand for Gracie Grombach, the lawyer mordecai mentioned is probably named C. Trumble. Gracie is the mole.

Mordecai was sent out to kill Gracie because he's working with the Feds. In this case, Agent Dom.

How does this tie into Atlas's death? Is Asa warning Atlas to not bring too much attention.

He was killed because the feds are in, and Atlas was a huge liability.

Leads me to also assume that the two men Mordecai killed

Was the start of the fed issue. Atlas got involved.

To "clean up the mess," they, as in the marigolds, killed Atlas.

What a perfect story to add in. Their using mordecai he's being set up. Feds roll in, missing lawyer, then Gracie. Mordecai has his hands soaked in blood already. Perfect for taking the balme for not only the murders but for Atlas murder too. Keeping marigold under the water once the feds caught their man.

Mordecai is alone with his back against the wall.

He thinks he's spying on them, this whole time, they had him and set him up for the balme.

Not only that, but lackadaisy is going to be completely destroyed. Only seer dumb luck can change all that.

I love this theory so much and have never actually thought of this. (If the theory is correct) I wander what Mordecai's reaction will be? To find out that the person that he looked up to so much couldn't care less if Mordecai became useless. I'm tempted to make an au exploring this

2023, November 6 Update:

I don't know if this is still a recurring issue, but I wanted to share anyway:

They have no legal duty to take it down, and they should have some sort of guidelines for posting although you probably cannot read it on there. I doubt you can contact the platform at all given how SHADY it is.

Said posts that were stolen from me, as per usual, are taken off, and of late it seems fixed. I say firsthand that Tumpik is still a riskware filled site and I do not know the goals of the host. Nothing will happen so long as you do not accidentally click a link. However, if this does happen, please delete the cache and clear your data. This should reset Chrome completely. I suggest you wipe off the cookies as well.

Heads up everyone, there is a VERY fishy site going by "Tumpik", if you Google your username, PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE SITE IMMEDIATELY, MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE SITE'S NAME FIRST. At first, I believed this was Tumblr, I anticipated that I would be redirected to my blog, but fortunately, my firewall managed to block it.

So, from what I have heard, this site bombards you with pop ups, blatant, malicious advertisements that installs malware on your device. No information such as the intentions of the host is known. I'd advise you to spread this throughout Tumblr, because this is scummy.

Never knew what it was, and never gave permission to anyone to upload it on there. Very strange indeed.

New update: Something called Tumgik replaced Tumpik, I guess

This is really impotent for everyone to know. I'm not the greatest with computers. But after visiting that bloody site my computer had a threat on it. It's taken care off now. Please be mindful of that scammy site!
