How would Mordecai dress Benjamin as a child if he was a girl? Yes, this is deliberately inspired off of your most recent - lovely - drawing
Sorry I took so long to answer
I’ve always said that Hannah would have had a very different experience with Mordecai than Benjamin did. Hannah would have made Mordecai feel out of his element, and so he wouldn’t have been so focused on her wardrobe. He’d probably let her make a lot of those decisions because he didn’t have any prior personal opinions on girls clothing. He doesn’t really care about bows and frills and just tells her to choose whatever she wants. She would choose the bows and the frills. As long as she looks put-together and presentable he didn’t really care.
Benjamin on the other hand gets caught in Mordecai’s decisions because Mordecai kind of lives vicariously through Benjamin in that aspect; but maybe doesn’t realize it. He remembers what he wished he had when he was young and feels comfortable that he knows best. I’d say Mordecai genuinely thinks he’s doing a good thing for Benjamin - in his mind he’s making sure Ben is never seen as “less than” based on his clothes. He will begrudgingly let Benjamin choose his own clothes every now and then if Ben sounds really passionate about something in particular, even if he doesn’t understand.
