{Sorry for the delay, but it seems we've reached a stopping point.}
Huh, didn't see this post since I'm always on my other account ^^ Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I like they way it ended now but that doesn't mean I want to stopcompletely. Justwondering for a good (new) story to start.
"Continue with me…" Hikari’s surprise had reached critical levels. She didn’t usually give guys a second chance, but Ryuu somehow seemed…deserving. He was actually making an effort to fix their relationship and that was more than anyone had ever attempted previously.
"Continuing sounds good." She said quietly. "Unless you’re planning to disappear again anytime soon."
"I will never disappear again. I'm still mad that it took me even once to learn that." Finally some rest came back. With his mind set at ease, Ryuu began to lighten up again. Somewhere deep inside he always thought that it would be impossible to get things bak as they were. Maybe things are different, but that doesn't need to be a bad thing.
Ryuu gave Hikari a kiss on her cheek and hugged her. It felt great to be so close to her again. A feeling he hoped to never forget again.
"Uh…Your welcome, I guess."
She was surely grateful to see him again, but never expected this kind of reaction. Unable to bring herself to look directly at Ryuu, Hikari opted to stare at their entwined hands while he heaped praise upon her. They were softer than she expected and much larger than her own. An image of those hands running across her nude back popped into her mind and Hikari shivered slightly. Now wasn’t the time.
"So, where does that leave us…" She shook head quickly.
"I mean, where does that leave you now?"
"I guess I'm still trying to figure that one out." Ryuu slowly drank the rest of his coffee before continuing. This allowed his to gather his thoghts and to mask his nervousness at the posed question.
"I know I dont have to worry about money for quite some time and I still have enough up my leeve to last a lifetime. I just want that lifetime to be worth living. I lived too long for others and their expectations. Followed and obeyed their rules for too long."
He slowly rose up and came closer to Hikari. "But most of all I don't want to cotinue on my own. I left you once and it quickly made me realize just what I left behind.
"I want to continue with you. Or start anew if that's what it takes."
Hikari listened while preparing Ryuu’s coffee. She didn’t exactly know how to feel. It wasn’t fair for Ryuu’s family to treat him in such a manner and Hikari found herself angry on his behalf. At the same time, she didn’t want him to isolate himself just for her sake.
"I’m really sorry." She said quietly as she placed a steaming mug in front of hm. After waiting for him to continue for a while she added:
"I know I haven’t known you for very long, but I don’t think you’ve changed. Not enough for it to be a problem, anyway."
Feeling the nice aroma tintling his senses Ryuu slwoly took a sip of the coffee. Hikari's words were floating in his brain.
I don't think you've changed
Was she right and was he the same as he always was? Thinking of his old self wasn't that pleasant. He hadn't really been a nice guy. A cutthroat businessman that would destroy anyone foolish enough to oppose him.
"You're wrong" he said. Coming out a little stronger than expected, he saw Hikari letting out an expression of surprise. "I have changed in ways you couldn't even imagine. I guess running back to the seat of power was something I did because it felt natural. Or rather it would've been in the past." Ryuu's eyes lit up as he finally managed to figure himself out.
"I came back because I changed. Because I felt I didn't belong in that place anymore. Or maybe because I just didn't want to anymore. And all of that because of something that made me feel different. Something that made me see things from another persective. Something fiery red colour dancing around."
After pausing a moment he took Hikari's hands between his own.
"I changed because you made me want to. And I could never thank you enough for it. Even if I could I wouldn't"
"No problem, then I’ll wait here. It seems pretty quiet anyway so it’s as good a place to talk as any." Ryuu finally let Hikari go. Not that he really wanted to, but they obviously couldn’t stand like that forever.
”Look, if you want an explanation for why I ‘ve been away for so long I’ll give it to you. If you don’t, then that’s ok too. The choice is up to you.” Ryuu took a seat at the bar. “Oh, and I’ll gues I’ll take that coffee anyway.”
"Okay then." Walking behind the counter quickly, Hikari began blending his drink. It was easier to think if she was farther away from Ryuu.
"You don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to. I can’t force you to do that." Hikari said softly. "Although, I’m willing to listen to anything you have to say."
Ryuu let out a soft sigh. Even though he really wanted to tell the truth and get it over with, it didn't make it any easier to do so.
"As you know I'm destined to take over my family's company. Although it puts me in aplace of immense power and wealth it just never felt like me you know? But still I've been working up in the company and proving myself till this very day." His face started to turn more grim.
"Everyhting was going fine and I had time to think if the direction I was on was the right one. Untill 2 months back when I got the call. Apparently they thought it was time to pick up my rightfull place and become the boss. Only... there were some conditions." Ryuu started to have more and more troubly finding his words and spit out every one of them with despise.
"I had to leave everything behind. It seemed pretty rational at first untill I wanted to call you. Turned out they wanted me to leave everyone behind too. Sometimes I imagine they felt me changing my ways during the time I spent with you and they just got afraid."
"But I thought I had made my choice and had to face the consequences..."
Ryuu felt quiet as he didn't quite knew how to continue.

A tear ran down Ryuu’s face. He couldn’t imagine what he had done to be this lucky but it was a great feeling.
Suddenly he realized that it would look pretty weird if anyone were to come inside right now. Maybe it was time to move the reunion to someplace more appropiate.
"I reckon the café is about to close. Have you eaten anything yet?"
"No, not really." Remembering where she was, Hikari backed out of Ryuu’s embrace. She could feel the flush on her skin and focused on willing it away.
"I’ve still got about an hour to go. The place is empty but I can’t just leave."
"No problem, then I'll wait here. It seems pretty quiet anyway so it's as good a place to talk as any." Ryuu finally let Hikari go. Not that he really wanted to, but they obviously couldn't stand like that forever.

Ryuu’s mind stopped working for a few seconds when he felt the warmth that he missed for so long. That sweet smell that’s been lingering in his memories for what felt like ages filled Ryuu up with happiness.
"I know there’s nothing I can say that makes up for being away so long. But I mean it from the bottom of my heart when I say that I’m sorry"

Ryuu’s coat was still cold from the wind, but his body was radiating warmth that Hikari found herself relaxing into. She could feel a warm blush crawling up her neck while he apologized.
"It’s okay. I understand." She turned her head to rest against his chest. "I’m sure you were busy."

Watching Ryuu walk into the empty restaurant caused Hikari’s heart to function improperly for several seconds. It took a few moments before she registered that he had spoken to her.
"Um, well…"She stammered slightly. "The kitchen’s closed but I can get you some coffee." Hikari managed a shy grin while mentally chastising herself for acting like a space cadet.
"You can sit anywhere you like."
No time to be a coward now. Ryuu took a step closer. "Sitting i the last thing I want to do at this moment and as for that coffee". He hugs Hikari. "I think this is the only thing that's strong enough right now."

It was hardly worth keeping the little café open during the holiday season. Hikari wiped down the already gleaming tables for the fourth time that hour. Although it gave her plenty of paid free time, she needed a distraction from her thoughts of Ryuu.
He had managed to disappear totally since their last date and Hikari was sure he’d given her the cold shoulder intentionally. She had been dumped before, after all. It must have been easier to just stop taking her calls than to have the face to face confrontation.
After being sad for a while, she had regained the normal pace of her life. Including her often quiet, customerless evenings at work. Hikari had just decided to mop the floors one more time when the bells over the front door jangled roughly.
An empty café. There were worse settings for what was about to happen, whatever was going to happen. The shiny red hair he was so familliar with danced around while the person it was attached to kept cleaning the same table over and over again. Ryuu's heart started beating so loud he was afraid that it could be heard by everyone in a mile radius.
What to say, what to say what to say,...
Thinking about it apparently wasn't going to help. There was only one simple and clear option and that was action. Slowly but steady Ryuu started walking untill he stood within 3 feet of Hikari.
"Excuse me, do you have something strong for someone who's been away of way to long?"
The blistering cold tried biting at Ryuu's face when he arrived. A long time passed since he and Hikaru saw each other. To confess your love and then leave on a business trip, it seemed so surreal. Will she be happy to see him again? Or sad, or angy or lost or... He didn't know what to think yet thoughts kept racing through his head.
Ryuu didn't care how she would react towards him as long as he could see her again, even if it were for one last time. A decision was made and he was going to follow through with it:
No more work, no more calls. From now on it was time to start living in the moment. To live for life and for love.

"Sounds good to me." Hikari noticed Ryuu’s small blush and felt her own cheeks heat up in response. She took a drink of the wine to distract herself. It was stronger than anything she was used to and Hikari winced slightly.
Hearing a chuckle coming from beside her, Hikari quickly turned to face Ryuu’s grinning face. “It’s really…robust, isn’t it?”
After a while he felt like he just couldn't do this anymore. Ryuu manned up and felt his face getting more serious. Maybe not the bet face to say this, but it would had to do. Ryuu took Hikari's hand and placed it between his own: Hikari,... I wanted to say this for some timenow but I just never had the guts to do so. When I see you I just feellike the world around me fadesaway tillthere's nothing left but you and me. Nothing else matters to me when you're close. I think I figured out why. Not only do I really like you, but although I never had the feeling before... I think I love you.

"I’m glad too." It took a second or two for the red head for remember to respond to Ryuu’s statement. Just that small amount of physical contact was enough to get her heart fluttering in her chest. She looked away quickly to hide her slip up.
"I’m really sorry about the other night. I hope you didn’t take it the wrong way."
Ryuu’s face looked a little worried “Too be honest, I was afraid it was something I did. How amazing things are going between us, there is just so much we still dond’t know about each other.” A moment of silence passed between them as they both sat there, quietly looking at each other. “Maybe it’s too soon to ask this, but if there are things you’re afraid of or problems you try tokeep secret… you can tell me. Otherwise I’ll keep being afraid to slip up or to do something that hurts you”
Look at their joined hands, Hikari sighed. “That makes sense.” She was sure that she couldn’t tell Ryuu everything right away, but she had to try.
She chewed on her lip nervously before continuing. “It’s not a really long list. I have a hard time with loud noises, especially when I’m surprised. Things like thunder and fireworks.”
She glanced up at him, trying to gauge his reaction to her statement. “I sound like a real head case, don’t I?”
The way she looke at him, almost in desperation, made Ryuu feel bad for pressuring her. But her fears were rather normal. In the end every one had their own fears, some sillier than others.”Being afraid of loud noises is the most normal fear to have, even though it sometimes seems like few people have them. Fear of loud noises is one of the only fears that we are born with. It’s part of our survival instinct since loud noises could indicate danger. But over time people can use their senses much better and quickly check if the noise means danger or not.”
Slowly he saw Hikari’s eyes widened. Wether she was happy or not, he felt like she was satisfied. ‘“Sorry for the rambling. sometimes I read something scientific and when I can use that infirmation I get a little over-enthousiastic.”
Ryuu took his glass and took another sip. The wine moistured his throat that had gotten dry due to all the talking. “I have weird fears too you know. So maybe we’re all a little crazy. But that’s fine, it gives the world some color don’t you think ?”
"Survival instinct indeed." She chuckled darkly to herself.
"I know why it happens. That isn’t the issue. It would be nice if it stopped happening, is all." Hikari shrugged. "It gets old after so long."
Hikari watched Ryuu drinking his wine and pouted. “Don’t I get any? I did make dinner.”
Her glass was indeed empty. Since he got caught up in his speech he stopped paying attention to his guest. "Sorry, I forget things once I start talking like that." Hetook the bottle and poured her a glass. "That reminds me..." Ryuu said while he took off to the kitchen. It was about time to make everything ready. He spiced the rice before boiling it, somthing he always did since the rice absorbs flavor from the water. Then he put the chicken in the oven. Since it was already prepared it would have been better tomicrowave it, but the oven gives most sorts of meat a better taste.
Ryuu sat back in the sofa when he realized he suddenly sat a lot closer than before. "Dinner'll be ready in 15 minutes" he said while blushing.
