What you are seeing here is an AMV I made back when I was about 12. Before I say anything else, do not bother the reposter, because I thought I had lost this damn thing forever and am happy it exists somewhere.
The year was 2007. I was in the 7th grade, and had started making AMVs for fun and uploaded them on a now defunct account, because my life sucked ass and I desperately needed an outlet. I was editing this while sitting in an uncomfortable wooden dining chair at a flimsy little desk on my first computer, which my dad built for me out of spare parts from the scrapped computers his boss tossed when they upgraded their hardware (he literally went dumpster diving). This PC ran on windows 98 initially, and when we upgraded to windows xp, I ignored the fact that my little guy was slowly dying.
The flashing at the start is, if you'll notice, slightly off-sync with the music. That's not a reupload issue, that was on my original file. Because of how much of my RAM I was using, there was significant lag in windows movie maker while editing. I spent an hour on that opening scene alone, and really didn't feel like going back and fixing it when I saw it rendered off-sync. I just said "good enough, I guess" and uploaded it.
Now, I had a TINY hard drive. And videos took up So Much Of My Space. So, I had to delete video files after they were uploaded to conserve space. Then the first wave of the brand new youtube copyright system hit. And ALL of my AMVs got hit. Back then, it wasn't a "suppress your viewership and give any income to the original creator" thing. It was a "we don't want a lawsuit, so we're taking your video down without warning" thing. I lost all of my work. And this AMV was the one that hurt the most because it was the one I was proudest of.
I had to be content that I would never see it again. I even tried to see if there had been any reuploads at the time of it getting taken down. There wasn't, and I was resigned to the fact that this thing was lost forever.
Except it wasn't. Somebody saved it. Somebody uploaded it in 2009, long after I had already forgotten about it because I was a kid and had other things going on.
If you go to the comments on this video, you'll see a bunch of people saying "this was my childhood" or "I watched this when I was 6" or "this went hard when I was a kid, and it still does." I almost started crying. I am 30 years old. If you ever watched this and connected to it at any point: thank you. That 12yo girl needed this validation. And now I am crying. I didn't know how much I needed this until now.
