i wonder if this whole Calling Typical Misogyny "Porn Addiction" thing wasn't just a successful psyop to shift feminist critique into a right wing framework i.e. trying to make it about "modern degeneracy" and thus paralyzing discourse on the root issue

a more accurate comparison for what i'm criticizing would be saying "guns invented murder"

what inspired this post in the first place was seeing someone on twitter claim that a video game mod giving a character huge tits was the result of porn addiction. but that's just a standard example of objectification, something porn didn't invent. in fact porn is a tool FOR objectification, not its origin and one certainly does not need to ever view porn to objectify others considering it can be seen all over our every day society

there are hoards of people saying shit like this:

men expected women to be docile and subservient and perform sexual acts for them whenever they please long before contemporary porn. once again, people are taking ordinary misogyny and relabeling it as "porn addiction"

the concept of "porn addiction" itself entered mainstream discourse in no small part through the duggar family, where "porn addiction" was invoked to excuse josh raping his sister, rather than the fact they raised their children to view women as sexual property

this is what my post is about. it's about the flattening of feminist analysis and critique by blaming misogyny that has existed long before anyone was ever able to film two people having sex on the idea of "porn addiction"
