He was a cavalry officer in the Polish army who managed to avoid the Soviet execution at Katyn. Once in there, he actually escaped and wrote a report. I think he let himself get captured again too. Not sure. FDR and everyone else KNEW what was happening, but didn’t give a flying shit. Neither about Poles or Jews.

Captain Pilecki survived the war only to be murdered by the communist state for treasonous activities after the war ended.

He was genuinely one of the most badass motherfuckers to have lived. But you can’t have people like that in a good commie state.
