Wait lol so Ice and Slider came from the VF-213 squadron, but they wore VFA-25 patch instead of VF-213 patch. And they were assigned to CVW-11 (tailcode NH), and the Air Wing’s ‘home carrier’ was the USS Enterprise (CVN-65). So Mav Goose Slider and Ice were actually serving on the same ship (the Enterprise) this entire time?
Watching the documentary and not the producers trying to explain the gay of the locker room scene in Top Gun away lmaooo that ship has sailed dude

Reworked the recent sketches a little because apparently this week is all about my blorbos praying. (ㅅ´ ˘ `)
Never underestimate the urge of a person (with unmedicated ADHD) to force the world to watch Real Genius.
My friend totally loved the shirts after project hail mary and expressed her curiosity about Real Genius. Unfortunately, I couldn't find Vietnamese subtitles for this movie (but I did for Top Secret!, go figure). So with regret I thought that was it.
Nah, then I figured out making subtitles was not that hard if you didn't have to do it from scratch. I already had subbing program on my computer. All I needed to do was translating the english subtitle to vietnamese, then put it back in line by line. And I did! It took about three days to finish and we watched it together yesterday (April 7th).
It was great lmao. We laughed particularly hard at Kent's radio-head (hah) scene. She found dr hathaway funny because he never blinked (no seriously it was equal part hilarious and creepy). And she loved the slippers. Also she caught onto the laser way faster than I did the first time watching it. Forgot to ask how many stars she would give it though. Maybe tomorrow.
Anyway real proud of myself for making the subtitles lol
This reads like an Austen novel to me
Found Hozier's fave genre me think
I really chose to watch The Island of Dr. Moreau on the day but it was a wild ride for sure lmao. The executives really tried to solely blame the drama and the production mayhems when they literally started the first issue and the script was straight up DOGSHIT to begin with. Changing the setting to be semi-modern took away the gothic horror atmosphere of the book that nothing attempted was really interesting enough to replace. A fully lit and modernly equipped operation room on a deserted island was... a choice.
Side note did not expect how randomly horny it was. Wdym Val Kilmer was half naked feeding drugs to the pig women mouth to mouth?? And the totally not turned on look he gave when the dog boy asked him for a hunt GTFO
Mate you have no idea how much I love the arrogant Juilliard trained son of a bitch attitude Val Kilmer had. The sheer refusal to conform or concede his worth that is so dumb and ballsy and that sets him apart. Man's so distinct and strange and particular it's impossible to look away when he steps into a scene. And the way he enjoys his craft is so fucking fun. The bit in the Spartan commentary when he said Mamet's dialogues are in rhythm with the movement of the characters instead of their thoughts? Chef's kiss bitch. Imagine being able to not just read the words but also see them dance. Imagine experiencing art in such a joyous and beautiful way. The world is so much more interesting because you existed in it.
Ryan Gosling on how he took inspiration from Chris Knight in Real Genius for Ryland Grace's collection of T-shirts. (x)
[fondly] david lynch and val kilmer never worked together because then psychologists would have to invent a new diagnosis for the never-before-seen unhinged behaviour recorded on set. they would not let each other sleep (lovingly). they'd come up with new and inventive ways to out-insane each other. they'd film one scene fifty different ways cuz they feel like it. making the movie took twice as long as the studio allowed. they made like two documentaries on the side. executives added this to the list of reasons why kilmer should never be hired again

As Deep As the Grave, the true story of 1920s archeologists, will bring late actor back with support from his estate
this shit makes me want to throw up but also, please journalists for the love of god learn how to write about AI. "The late actor will play Father Fintan, a Native American spiritualist and Catholic priest." No he won't. His likeness will be digitally reproduced but we have no idea how he would have played Father Fintan because this man is dead. A performance is more than just the face and voice attached to it, it's a whole host of choices an actor makes independent of the supervision of his producers and directors. This news is disgusting and I think Kilmer's estate are vultures for allowing this to go forward.
outside the usual realm of vintage news but! I am steaming mad about this and the other attempts we’ve seen to “borrow” dead actors’ faces and call it a performance. also find it insulting that they didn’t attempt to find a native actor to fill Kilmer’s shoes. “respect an actor’s fucking performance” challenge once again failed
Chiming in because Val is a fixture in the Hot Medieval circle.
This is a travesty. This is beyond a travesty, its a desecration. We aren't even a year out from his untimely death and they're already setting upon his memory with this digital Necromancy.
I didn't know Val Kilmer, but I know he was an EXTREMELY particular actor, and Val Kilmer as the man I understood him to be would never have endorsed this.
Random thoughts cuz brainworm
Seeing it going around that he probably endorsed all uses of AI but that's a bit of a stretch. In tgm when he spoke there was no AI use, as the director clarified. They just enhanced his voice for clarity in production.
The company that generated his voice later on (Sonantic) had publicly stated that they hired voice actors and asked for permission for samples used in their training data
Whether they're telling the truth and to what extent, well... But the same article quoted a voice actor who confirmed she was paid to help them train their models. Notably they also mentioned not having a lot of sound data to work on for Val due to movie licensing.
So tldr: at least up to that point this company was doing everything ethically: permissions for training data, permission for test data, Val was fully involved and gave his permission. And this was also done to create an assistive technology for himself (you know, one of the good things AI could be utilised for instead of grave robbing). That's why saying oh he was okay with this so he gotta be okay with that is ridiculous. Context matters.
Another point is Sonantic couldn't acquire enough samples due to movie licensing, so I do wonder how this "indie" film are gonna be able to ethically acquire enough image, video and voice samples to train their models. Jk they're obviously just using one of those commercial slop generating softwares because they had no integrity.
Also think about it if he had given them the permission to do this they would have bragged about it in the title of the article, not "we received blessings from his kids" somewhere in the body text
Could have employed a native actor, could have left this man alone, could have left his vulnerable grieving family alone, could have tried to make a good movie even but no lol
Resurrected by AI... not in quotation...
