A crimson-sailed ship cuts across the horizon, fleeing the empire, hiding secrets in its hull. Its captain, Miguel—fiery-haired, sharp-eyed, and hunted by dreams—sails west toward a name whispered in his sleep: Achinech.

In his wake trail storms, slave markets, blood, and prophecy. A family boards his ship with gold and desperation. A storm claims their dead. A woman—silent, watching—hides her true name: Aquejata.

Mutiny simmers. Suspicion stirs. And still, the Wraith sails west.

At last, black sands rise from the mist. Home to Aquejata. Hunted by memory. Feared by those who remember the old raids. The sails arrive. And Achinech does not forget.

The Complete and True History of the Dogani Dynasty (878-1453)

Part 1: The Prince Pirate

Sun broke over the beautiful mountains of Tenerife, and the waves crashed loudly against the rocks. Flocks of birds flew overhead, glancing down at the procession which solemly walked up the old dusty trail to the summit. At the head was a 15 year old warrior, and behind him a rag tag tribe of guanaches. Not many warriors, which was why it was fairly easy for this young man to step into the position he found himself in. He didn’t know much about his father. And what he did know he didn’t care repeating. His mother’s story was much more interesting to him, and one he often revisited in his mind, saying the words over and over. From birth he was trained to be a fighter, first as a boy in the dambe fighting pits, next being selected as an elite bow man and training on the usage, to forming his own bow unit which he called the “Bush Hunters” and taking over control of the tribe, to now the day of his coronation ceremony to officially become chieftan of Tenerife. While he wasn’t a tall man, his shoulders and chest were well formed, and pleasing to the eye. He held himself in a different way than the others, and yet was easy to talk to, and had many friends that were regular tribesmen. His hair was a peculiar red, of which had never been seen before by anyone in the area. His eyes were green like a jaguar, and they grew darker if he became angry. All this made for a natural leader. As he walked and reflected on all of the things that had to happen to get him to that point, he wondered what type of man he would be. The world as he knew it was a small place, but he had heard many tales from the strange men who came on boats from the mainland about large cities to the north and to the east. He wanted to see those cities... conquer them. raid them. Make them fall to their knees. But that was for later. As for now.. his people awaited him at the sacred stone to speak the sacred words.

Backstory: Chief Cristobal actually crossed paths with Sarah when she was younger, as he was passing through Spain hunting and scouting for future raids. She saw him, but he didn't see her. So imagine her surprise when her father came to her and told her that she was to be wed to a chief from a far away land, an island in the Magreb region. "They say he has hair like fire and eyes like jade" her father says to her, more in fear than reverence. "He has already amassed many behind him and I fear it won't be long until he becomes more powerful than anything we have ever seen." He turned to her, with genuine love in his eyes. "My love.. you must find a way to calm the beast within him. Help him to be a good leader, to see the right way in doing things. So that he would be friends of ours, not an enemy." Sarah looked up from her plate, speaking for the first time. "Father.. have you not guided me in the way of our ancestors and taught me all things right from wrong? Have you not prepared me to be a good and just woman to someone of noble birth? Why then would I falter now?" Ilyan looked across the table at his wife, and then to his daughter. How he loved them both. And now a piece of him would be leaving to go and live under someone else's rules. It was almost too much for him to stand. But he trusted his instincts. This young upstart chieftan from the Canary Islands might just be something someday.

PRACTICAL CONSEQUENCES OF KARMA

To begin with, I need to understand that I cannot immediately change my present situation, but I should understand that: *  The reason why I am experiencing this is only due to my own actions in the past, my mind filled with delusions or positive thoughts, and the right circumstances for the karma to ripen. *  I can chose to have a selfish reaction to my situation and create my own suffering in the future. *  I can chose to have a reaction considering others’ welfare and create happiness for myself as well in the future. *  If I react without thinking, it is easy to create negative results for the future, and even make that a habit. * The others whom I like to blame for hurting me, are merely the circumstances that make my negative karma ripen. *  Understanding karma means that I have full responsibility for everything that happens to me in the past, present and future. *  Positive thinking and acting will do others and myself much more good than being negative and acting that way.
