“ i know that. ” he begins, gentle fingers reaching out to push a strand of hair behind her shoulder. it was almost like muscle memory, minus the actual memory. “ and i know how much you’ve been there for me through most of it. even if you can be a huge pain in my ass. ” he teases, but the tone of his voice remains faint. “ i’ll try not to let the thirst for greatness ruin any more of our nightly outings. and i’ll definitely get you the fries. ” he agrees, a thankful smile being directed down at her. “ i don’t know what i would do without a friend like you. maybe rip a boat in half again. ” although a joke, he winces at his own comment. “ yeah, never leave me to my own devices, okay ? ”
