I close five days a week at, [non descript tex mex fast food restaurant.] And every day before we leave we have to set an alarm before we leave, we have to stick in the back office to set this alarm because it uses sensors to make sure everything is locked and nobody is in the lobby or the bathrooms somehow. It usually goes off with a hitch, lock doors, set alarm, bam.
Its just me and my manager in the building, the silence is deafening. The northwing door shouldnt even be capable of opening, our store just opened recently and our outside tables hadnt arrived yet, so it was SUPPOSED to be locked.
I admit i did make my manager (a slightly older woman) check it herself, while i watched from the cameras in the office. I watched her slowly creep through the dark lobby with her phone flashlight shining infront of her. She reached the door and found it shut and locked, completely.
So she comes back to check, we try the alarm again, same thing. This goes on three more times, scouring the door for anything that xould be disrupting our sensors
Not a thing. Until. The 5th time we tried, when instead of just the usual, the error log read
[Drive through window ajar]
Me and my manager looked at eachother, something must have been wrong with the sensors, some faulty wiring or something, i mean our lights have been going out constantly lately so it wouldnt be a shock.
When we tried it for the last time the alarm quietly set. We left as quick as our 4 legs could carry us. But i noticed as i walked though the lobby, the northwing door was open, i could feel a draft coming in from the crack in the door. And so i shut it, and now im kinda afraid to go back and close alone.
Oh don’t worry, I’m sure you won’t be alone:)
