I have a thought, but it's not as nice as the other thoughts I've posted.
It's been hyped up for a month and Robert can't help but feel super excited about it. After beating Shroud, Z-team is closer than ever, so he's absolutely stoked.
I mean, the team is not known for subtlety, so it'll be thoughtful but over the top with a lot of sarcasm. He's never had a birthday party, but he thinks this must be pretty close.
He fully expects his desk to be covered with a bunch of balloons in the most obnoxious colors, probably a cake shaped like a dick. He really doesn't know, but he's excited.
On his way to his desk, he sees his fellow dispatchers and their gifts and their parties, hears snippets of plans made after work.
But at his desk, they'll be nothing, no balloons, no streamers, no weird gifts, not even a card and there's no one waiting for him either.
He's a little disappointed, but he sure they'll be something later. Only there's nothing. Nobody says anything. No one has anything. It's just business as usual, for a second he thinks there might be something after work. Some off handed comments make him realize that there's nothing.
Not even from Flambae, who he thought they were getting a lot closer but, nope.
It's okay though, it's totally Robert's fault for expecting something. He shouldn't be surprised, it's not the first time he thought that he meant more to someone than he actually did. No big deal, he's not sad, it doesn't hurt.
They're his coworkers, just because they joke around at work doesn't mean they actually like him or that they're friends. It's all good.
He'll just, take Beef home and go to bed, it's cool, no biggie. He shouldn't have assumed. It's fine. He's fine.
That's the end of my thought.
