Hello, kinfolk!

Long time, no see! Life got crazy hectic, my internet got steadily worse, I moved and got a new job, and now I have 10x more free time and faster internet than I did before. Which means I can afford to come back to this blog! I’m very excited about it and I hope y’all are too. The other mods may be sporadically around for a while, but ight now Im the one with the most free time!

I do think we might try and scale back larger posts, scatter them out, and focus on smaller things! Right now our ask box is very full, and for the sake of starting over, we’re going to almost completely clear it out. The huge posts take almost an hour each, and sometimes it’s just not possible! We will still aim to bring you good quality content.

Another very important thing: we will be taking auditions for a new mod. We’re excited to welcome someone new to the crew! To audition, please submit a message telling us about yourself. Tell us your kintypes, how often you’re around, the kind of content you like to provide, what being otherkin means to you, etc! Basically anything you would want us to know. Please don’t take it personally if we don’t choose you! You’re all wonderful. Mod audition will close Sunday, August 2nd.

Peanut Butter dog treats for dogs (and humans!)

INGREDIENTS

2½ cups whole wheat flour (see note below for substitutions)

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup natural peanut butter

1 cup water

2 tablespoons honey

1 egg

INSTRUCTIONS

preheat oven to 350F

In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, and the egg. Add peanut butter, water, honey and stir until you have stiff dough. the dough becomes very firm and sticky. you may need to use your hands, or the paddle attachment on your mixer.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough about ½ inch thick and use a cookie cutter to make fun shapes. the treats barely spread and rise, so get creative with your shapes.

Bake for 20 minutes, until golden.

keep in an airtight container or give as gifts!

dang this is a cute blog. can I get some accessory recommendations for a little orange cat with earthy inclinations?

I know this is ages old, but I hope it’s still relevant for you!

This little cat ring is very cute! It’s a little on the pricey side though at $46.00.

While maybe not an accessory, this little kitten seems like a great little idea to hang in your car or somewhere similar to make you smile, and is only $13.00.

I know this is a black cat on an orange background, but this is a lovely piece of jewelry at $18.00.

I’m sure collars aren’t what you’re looking for, but I found this and thought it fit your orange and earth motif pretty cutely if you ever wanted a collar to wear around at home!

Tiger Eye jewelry in general has an earthy feeling with an orange tone - here’s a lovely piece!

I personally love wearing bandanas, and while I know they’re typically a dog thing, one might look cute on you!

Leather bracelets might also be a good look for you for an earthier approach - you can find them in pleather if you don’t like wearing leather. Autumn leaves are a good way to look for orange ones!

Also, this isn’t an accessory, but when I was searching “orange cat”, I found it, please buy it.

could i get some suggestions for a borzoi kin?

ah yes, the borzoi… my fav breed of horse (i’m kidding)

lemme give this a whirl!

sounds: i would recommend more city-like sounds. Or small town! Anything that really helps with a warm, inviting home or a lazy evening. Such as Traffic Noise, Cafe Restaurant, Fireplace, or maybe even Rain.

smells: borzois are runners, so i think clean and crisp scents are the way to go. perhaps even herbal or woodsy. There’s also some pet scents right here!

sights: whenever i think of borzois i think of creams partnered with pastels. you can go with literal imagery of course, and society6 has a lot of great borzoi art you can get on a lot of different things! you could perhaps look into forest and perhaps seaside stuff as well. 

touch: with a borzoi’s shaggy coat i don’t think you can go wrong with a faux fur blaket or even some pillows!

taste: i imagine jerky would be awesome for dogkin! pepperoni, chicken, and bacon all seem to be very typical flavours for dog things. kinfood has a great dog tag as well!

If anyone knows me knows I love scents and fragrance oils. Hell, most of my hoard is fragrance oils!

So here’s a quick and simple way to experiment with or incorporate different scents into your every day life.

Struggling a lot with my kin type lately, any chance y'all could give me a 5 senses post of something forest related to help? I know I feel safest in forests and sometimes I feel astral wings, but I'm 1000% at a loss for what I could be

Sounds: I would go with Spring Walk, Rain, or perhaps this Waterfall Noise. Here’s 10 hours of Forest and Nature sounds!

Smells: Candles are always a good go to! Yankee Candle has a lot of options that I feel would be great. Including but perhaps not limited to: Green Grass, Greenhouse, Magical Frosted Forest, Meadow Showers, MidSummer’s Night, Mountain Lodge, Picnic in the Park, Silver Birh, Storm Watch, Summer Wish, Treehouse Memories, White Gardenia, Winter Garden. Here are some Woodsy Fragrance Oils for making your own!

Sights: Incorporating a lot of green and brown would definitely be a go to. With sight and touch I feel like it all depends on how literal you wanna go. Here are some super adorable mushroom lamps! And here are some Forest Themed Bedrooms on pinterest. A dark forest would likely warrant darker shades or even blacks and purples. Lighter would be bright shades and maybe even splashes of oranges and yellows! 

Touch: I’d say wooden furniture. These shelves look like a decent and relatively reasonable place to start and you can work your way up from there. 

Taste: This depends. Dishes centered around mushrooms and herbs would be a good vague suggestion, I think. I can’t tell you what you can or can’t be since that’s up for you to decide. Yet with the astral wings and a foresty home I would point you in three directions as simply a place to start and work your way out from there until you find something that clicks. Kinfood has a fantastic birdkin tag, faekin tag, and dragonkin tag. Which are all forest-friendly winged creatures I can think of at the moment!

-Monster: Miss Monster: Tshirts | Bandanas | Main Shop (Masks, dolls, unique jewelery, and various resin all kinds of stuff, though her main shop easily gets pricey since she hand makes everything)

Nishimikan has some cool designs up on their Society6 if you vibe with stomach mouths or spilling guts, just careful since sometimes there’s issues with Society6’s print quality.

There’s no right way to ask! We go off what you give us. Sorry this is so late! I’m not sure if this is for hyenakin AND monsterkin or a monster-shaped-hyenakin so I will try to do have these cater to both!

Sounds: Summer Night, Rainy Riverbank, Dark/Cave Water, Distant Thunder I feel would all be great places to start. 

Smells: I would say something maybe dark and rich. Some thunderstorm candles could be a place to start. Fall/Winter, Halloween, or even Woodsy scents could be awesome! Here is a Reed Stick Diffuser Kit and the Diffuser Base for getting started with experimenting with scents. Note that the kit DOES NOT come with the base or fragrance oil!

Sights: Literal imagery is always good. Like this pillow case, perhaps! Monster comes in a few products. Maybe Miss Hyena t-shirt too?

Touch: Depends greatly upon your personal preference. Right off the bat I would suggest rough fabrics in moderation- Such as a light blanket or maybe a pillow. Such as felt or maybe fleece. The fur route is also another option! 

Taste: Hyenakin Food Tag and Monsterkin Food Tag. Big meaty dishes are likely the way to go. If you happen to be veg, or maybe even have a sensitivity to certain meat, we have a Vegetarian Recipe Post right here!

ooh, a spooky challenge.

okay lets see.

sounds: a toughie. i would recommend going with sounds that feel familiar with you. really slow n sad piano music would probably fit the bill, or perhaps this “deserted” soundspace would be a good place to start.

smells: i’d go with something soft and subtle. vanilla, smoke/tobacco, forest, or even the smell of a fire burning. I asked my friend for help and she even suggested mothballs- I found a mothball fragrance oil and it even got me thinking about an old house. Please do not go smelling straight up mothballs, the chemicals can be harmful! 

sights: loose, flowy fabric scattered around. maybe even old and tattered things sparingly. maybe even this skeleton hoodie? These Happy & Mad pair of t-shirts are super cute too! I feel like obvious ghost imagery could produce a more subtle effect in clothing especially. horror movies playing the background while you do your daily activities could be neat. or watch a few of those ghost hunting shows!

touch: old books, old fabric, old furniture. if this isn’t possible, you could maybe thrift some cheap shelves and age them like this! touch and sight are often linked i find.

taste: perhaps take up vaping! they offer non-nicotine ejuices for your enjoyment. s’mores could be a fun little treat (since they relate back to spooky stories around the campfire?). this tag could help you out (warning for trypophobia). very airy and light foods like roasted seawood could make you feel like you’re eating nothing!

like most, if not all, 5 senses posts these are more generalised suggestions. a place to start you off, if anything. hope it helps!
