The story of Fred happened when I quit a job two years ago. Last week, I quit another job. I'm privileged to be able to just quit something simply because I'm unhappy.
I've had these videos saved for so long to someday make it into... I wasn't quite sure, but I've got plenty of free time now and constant warnings about my photo storage being at capacity.
Whether it be a Kafkaesque creature, or a swallowtail butterfly from the Asian market herbs, metamorphosis is constant.
Unfortunately I doomscroll instagram a lot lately, and unfortunately, one of the reels I saw was this (https://www.instagram.com/p/DYx48dfjryh/).
I need Brazil to enter the godamn chat, because the United States obsession with race has been getting on my nerves. The words "wasian gentrification" nearly gave me an aneurysm. As a biracial person FROM BRAZIL, this take is so fucking weird. I need the opinion of other Brazilians.
Anyway, I went on a shallow rabbit hole and I think this video is pretty damn interesting.
ugh how do I link youtube without it embedding
Fuck it, I'm high and I need a relatively quiet place to put my writings and ramblings in
I love it when a man on the first date is trying to make small talk like, "What's the worst date you've been on" or something, because they're itching to share that one time where "this chick turned out to be fat", and I'm like "hold my beer!"
Actually, don't. That's how I ended up getting roofied.
Everyone Is Cheating Their Way Through College
For anyone unfamiliar with Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed, the entire thesis is that traditional educational models promote oppression by removing students' agency in their own learning. Freire argues that currently education functions as a "banking model" - teachers are the holders of knowledge, and students are empty vessels, waiting to have that knowledge put into their heads like a piggy bank. This reinforces a passive attitude towards information, not seeking and understanding it on your own terms, but waiting for a "banker" to deposit it into your head.
Instead, Freire proposes that teachers and students act as co-creators of knowledge, where students become active participants in their own learning through questions and dialogue. Teachers are also open to changing their understanding of topics in the process of critical dialogue - the goal is not "student learns Fact A and memorizes it as presented," but instead the goal is the knowledge itself, discovered collaboratively by teacher and student, who are acting with empathy and respect towards each other. This also starts the process of the oppressed being able and empowered to question structures of power, take agency, and actively participate in the transformation of society.
So, the irony of writing an AI essay on critical pedagogy is actually insane; because it's essentially the extrapolated endpoint of Freire's arguments that our current educational system creates passive receptacles who not only can't think critically in an educational context, but also become the perfect citizens for a world that doesn't want us questioning structures of power, to view those in power as we viewed our teachers - deliverers of indisputable facts that must be memorized and regurgitated because they command it, and not co-creators of true understanding.
Ask me how having a job is going
I learned how to write Cyrillic backwards
Your unemployed friend on a Thursday afternoon.
Honestly, I will be in shambles when I have a job again. There are so many wonderful things that can be done during the day, or even grocery shopping when it's not busy is a huge difference in how stressed you get.
The 40-hour 9 to 5 is not made for people to live. Y'all are smooth brained corporate drones and we're supposed to be monkey brained swingers. Swinging on trees, or on playgrounds, or sex; you interpret it how you want.
I have a job now and this is fucking bullshit.
I was gonna make a joke how they should've eased me into this new schedule, like an egg that needs to be tempered lest it cracks, but no. No tempering is needed, for this egg has already hatched! I have soft feathers and small wings that are still learning to fly. You can't put me back in the cubicle-shaped shell! What idiot flightless birds created this system? They've bred us like chicken for slaughter in the cramped coop of capitalism.
Fly away, darlings. Peck their eyes out.
Currently here
âThere arenât enough hours in a day.â There are actually. The problem is that we think 40 hour work weeks are an unavoidable fact of life.
The problem is that everyone has to work 8 hours, pretty much no exceptions, and with getting ready time + (unpaid) lunch + commute, â8 hoursâ is actually anywhere between 9 and 12, every single day, with more work to do when you get home because our society and culture was built around having one member of the household home full time and nothing has changed now that almost everyone works.
No wonder Americans are reliant on DoorDash and fast food, thereâs no time or energy to cook. No one wonder mental and physical health are in shambles, many just spent all day sitting in fluorescent lights with little to no stimulation. âJust wake up earlierâ âJust meal prepâ⊠these are ok short-term, individual solutions, but the broader, systemic issue is obvious. We arenât built for this. Thereâs no work-life balance. Genuinely, I think if our culture could normalize a shorter work week, many individualsâ biggest problems would simply evaporate.
Our state isn't like any other! The drivers are terrible, and get this, the weather is unpredictable!
How is this my life
No one talks about how hard it is to be a stoner and an ingredient household
Every morning I pray for a crab rave and every day the empty throne of God disappoints me
I keep initiating a first date with people I don't really want to go on a date with, and sparse messaging with people I actually wanna go on a date with, and not texting people that I'm currently interesting in.
After years of avoidant men... I have become that very thing that plagued me.
Which is also becoming like my dad.
But also like, this dude is 39 years old and looking for a fwb. Like, grow up??
