Do you feel as if his team further puts into this Tristan Styles narrative just because it gets him more clout? Because that's the only thing that honestly makes sense about them, I could not think of a worse way to market someone like Harry, who is the furthest away from who is shown to be

I guess the best way I can put it, is that his team sometimes acts like they are marketing a sexy white Mick Jagger in 1970 and not a white man in 2021.

They are constantly straddling the line, I think, between keeping Harry current and making him seem really problematic.

Every single time he does something that aligns him strongly with the queer community, he is getting backlash. Because queer people who know nothing of him other than his current stuff are sitting there saying ‘is this actually a queer artist or....?’ Queer people want queer representation done by queer people in 2021. Whether or not its fair to expect Harry to come out, that is literally the expectation many people have if he’s going to keep really explicitly aligning himself with queerness.

Back in the day, being overtly queer like Bowie and Elton and not being someone who talks about it a whole lot (although Bowie did openly refer to himself as bisexual in the 70s) was fine. People didn’t want you to talk about it a whole lot. Queer people straddling queerness and ‘plausible deniability’ was perfectly fine. Now though, people want to see queer artists at the forefront who are outspoken, political etc.

Harry’s team are aligning him with people like Elton and Bowie, without fully getting that the world has actually moved on since. Expectations have changed. The culture has shifted. People don’t really want to celebrate a supposedly cis het (or ‘kind of gay when drunk’) white person being subtly queer anymore, when openly queer POC artists don’t get the same opportunities.

Harry’s team are trying to keep his appeal as broad as possible but I don’t think they understand that that’s maybe not what people want or expect anymore. And it makes his branding really quite confused because on the one hand you have ‘fucking Olivia Wilde and making Watermelon Sugar and simping for Bukowski’ and on the other you have ‘gender bending queer man who is very shy and political’, and to some extent those ideas feel incongruous.

I feel like this is very obviously movie promo that his team will also probably use to spin a stupid HS3 narrative, but we will see.
