âYou mind if I grab a measurement so I know the changes I need?â Leon asked, trying to be mindful of the fact that he was asking her, cousin or not, for her chest measurement. âAnd Iâd need the coat for a few days, but I certainly could. How much reinforcement are you thinking about?â
The redhead pulled out a small envelope. âI came prepared.â She told him, handing it to him. Inside were a number of notes, measurements and a decent enough up front. âI can also supply you with demonic parts. Goodness knows I come across enough of them.â she offered. âI imagine thatâd be worth a discount if in a large enough amount.â
âWas planning on giving you a break anyways. The parts are always appreciated, though.â He took the envelope and set it on the table before grabbing a small piece of paper and scribbling a number on it. âIâm not expecting you to call just to chat or anything, but here.â He folded the paper in half and held it out to her. âJust so you have help or back up thatâs a call away. I donât care what time it is, or what you might think Iâm doing. You call, and Iâll be there if you need me.â

âThatâs fair enough. And the tip might give me a little bit of a problem, but Iâve got some ideas.â He moved over to the workspace side of the building, moving some things around. âAs for some chainmaile, youâre in luck. I actually have a shirt, might need to modify it some, but I think itâll fit you.â He pulled the shirt out of a cubby box, holding it out to her. âGive it a try. If you need, bathroomâs down the hall.â
âI can fashion the tips if I have access to the right equipment,â Vic told him, taking the offered chainmail. âMy breasts would be the main issue, as I doubt I would even be able to get it all the way on as it currently is. However, it does feel quite well made.â she complimented as she inspected the weld closures. âHmm, I imagine you could reinforce a coat adequately as well.â
âYou mind if I grab a measurement so I know the changes I need?â Leon asked, trying to be mindful of the fact that he was asking her, cousin or not, for her chest measurement. âAnd Iâd need the coat for a few days, but I certainly could. How much reinforcement are you thinking about?â

âYeah, Iâd say that would certainly do a number on a demon.â Leon nodded. âAnd even if thatâs the case, cousins are there to have each otherâs backs. Plus, I feel I owe it to that child to be here now that Iâm actually big enough to help. Maybe I can get to know who you are now.â
âYouâll have to pardon the fact that our blood relation means nothing to me. Itâs difficult to value blood when your blood has caused so much harm.â Vic told him. âAnd yes, the idea is to have it disperse within, a shatter tip made to ensure release internally. Now, I know you do weaponry, what about armor? I need chain mail reinforcements for my coat and an undershirt to be safe.â The truth was she still had a healing stab wound in her abs as well, but that wasnât currently visible.
âThatâs fair enough. And the tip might give me a little bit of a problem, but Iâve got some ideas.â He moved over to the workspace side of the building, moving some things around. âAs for some chainmaile, youâre in luck. âCrossbow, huh?â Leon gave a nod. âI can get started right away, and have it done in a few days. And Iâd started this way looking for answers. When I found them, I was already in too deep.â He tapped a finger by the start of the scars on his face. âBesides, I thought itâd be a good for you to have a safe place to rest where thereâs always hot food. I couldnât ever find signs of you staying in one spot long, so I figured Redgrave was a good place to come to, seeing as itâs hunter and devil central. And the only reason I could see you going to Hell for is to be a part of that bastardâs punishment.â
âI had a feeling I had a tail for a bit.â She remarked sort of glad this one wasnât a demon, at least. âYes, Redgrave tends to be a magnet, but considering whoâs set up shop there, itâs not a surprise. "And yes, while My melee weapons serve me well, there are times when distance has tactical advantages. My intent it to fill those bolts with diluted holy water. Letâs see a devil walk that off.â she said with a bit of a smirk. âAs for reasons I may be going to hell, well, letâs just say you no longer know me, Leon. That scared child died along with her mother.â
âYeah, Iâd say that would certainly do a number on a demon.â Leon nodded. âAnd even if thatâs the case, cousins are there to have each otherâs backs. Plus, I feel I owe it to that child to be here now that Iâm actually big enough to help. Maybe I can get to know who you are now.â

Leonâs eyes widened with surprise at the name, before a huge grin broke out across his face. âVic!â On nature, he threw he arms up and moved as though to hug her, but managed to stop himself after a step as he reminded himself what heâd heard sheâd been through. âI had a feeling Iâd find you eventually, or youâd find me.â His grin widened. âCome on in! Iâve got some leftover gumbo Iâm still working through. Momâs recipe. As for me getting involved, well, I more or less started to get involved after you went missing. I still have your books, by the way. The ones you left under your floor. I kept them in case you wanted them back.â
She just watched as he moved for the hug and stopped himself. âHold on to them, Iâve committed much of the useful information to memory.â she told him as she reached into her coat and pulled out a thumb drive âThere are CAD files on here with a crossbow design meant for loaded bolts. I have more than the materials needed for it and around two hundred bolts if my calculations are correct.â she said, moving right to business. Then she did look him right in the eye as she told him âYouâre also a fucking idiot for chasing after someone whoâs already well on their way to hell.â
âCrossbow, huh?â Leon gave a nod. âI can get started right away, and have it done in a few days. And Iâd started this way looking for answers. Leon looked up as his door opened, a bit surprised at hearing his last name. âYeah. Howâd you know?â He asked curiously, having not been using his last name with this line of work. Setting down his food, he walked a bit closer, but still kept a distance, knowing it was better to not crowed the potentially heavily-armed customer, his head tilted inquisitively.
âBecause my name is Victoria Alexandra Marcus.â She stated, stepping deeper into the shop, though her demeanor didnât really relax. Sure, they were blood, but that had no real value to her. Blood could still be a threat, after all. âI knew you were a brave one, but I never figured you were foolhardy enough to actually get involved with all of this.â

Heâd been settling into Redgrave City well enough after finding a small house with enough room for his workspace, and steadily began growing a name for himself among the demon hunter community. By appearances, he certainly looked as though he belonged out there fighting demons himself, but heâd opted to take a more supporting role by providing weapons and armor infused with demonic energy. On the left side of his face were two long, deep scars that ran from his cheek bone down his neck, pure dumb luck having kept them from becoming fatal. Currently, Leon was taking a break from working, getting some much-needed food and water as he looked over his current project, determining what else might be needed.
The tall, leather-clad redhead had heard good things about this new guy and finally decided to pay him a visit. She was in the market for a projectile anyways. She opened the door to the place with her current weapons in place, figuring this guy used to armed clients. She had a fresh wound on her right cheek, not bandaged really, but it looked like her body was handling it just fine.
Her demeanor was cold, distant, and all business, she simply gave a vibe that told you she was not one to play games with. However, when she saw the man within, she was taken slightly aback. âYouâŠyour name wouldnât happen to be Leon LaVache by chance, would it?â She asked, her voice certainly deeper than most women, a grit lacing certain tones as she spoke. Still, her voice was measured, controlled, as was everything about this womanâs current mannerisms.
